wind speeds between 11 and 20 miles per hour. very breezy start. we are expecting the winds to continue throughout the mornini and into the afternoon. that has elevated the risk for rip currents nor you beach-goers. temperatures will continue in the low to mid 70s and we'll gradually warm up to the low 80s. feels-like temperatures will be into t low 80s just like what we saw yesterday. a loto you flocked to the beach yesterday because we're elevating that risk of rip currents. be safe out there. thth only thing the kids are going to need is the sunglasses because we're expecting a very sunny day. i'll have the detailscoming up. we're following a developing story this morning out of southwest miami-dade. >> two men recovering in the hospital after a violent armed carjacking. it happened l lt night at 135th court. police say the victims drove to m mt three men at an abandoned home. one of the victims shot. the other pistol whipped. both are expected to survive. the carjackers got away in the victim's car.

a 2015 dark blue sebring. a pilot and passenger crash off the coast of haulover beach. >> both men surviving with barely a scratch on them. schwarzenegger has -- carlos suarez has the latest. >>reporter: the wreckage of the single-engine pla. you can see what little was left of the plane. one of the wings was broken off and the engine now exposed. >> s swly but surely we got it in safe, pretty much in tact t t way i found it in the waters. >>reporter: the piper crashed shortly before noon on tuesday. >> lost a lot of altitude within the last 1,000 feet and they just kind of landed on the water. >>reporter: the captain was out on the water when he spotted the plane going down. >> i plane just went down outside banger's haulover. >> i saw him bobbing out

>>reporter: with debris floating the plane was sinking fast. the two student pilots struggled in the rough surf but the pilot was on board to help. >> i help my partner because he doesn't swim very well so i give the board to one guy, secure the other guy. >>reporter: the rescue played out as people laid out on the beach enjoying the gorgeous weather. a day at the beach they ll not soon forget. >> it was horrible. >>reporter: the student pilots are from ecuador and chile. both are doing fine this morning. we're told the pair took off from marathon but it's up clear where they with going. i'm carlos suarez, local 10 news. three women ambushed in their car at a burger king drive-thru leaving two of them injured.

details. >>reporter: you hear the screams for help and then the sirens in the distance. the chaotic scene unfolding live on facebook moments after donisha and her mom wore shot several time. the two were ambushed by gunman while they were sitting in their car. the three women targeted say police along northwest 138th street. >> y'all will be caughgh and dealt with. >>reporter: conservatives stand by p pying at jackson memorial hospital. >> i just remember falling to my knees. that's my mom. that's my sister. >>reporter: their ambush was caught on nearby surveillance cameras.

it's a little bit of a roroer-coaster for our winter here in south florida as another cold front moves in by the end of the week. if you have some outdoor activities,,o them today because it will stay dry. we are 13 degrees above where we should be this time of year. you're going to feel it with an east southeast breeze between 11 and 13 miles per hour. 73 in kendall. 74 in homestead. 75 muggy degrees in palmetto. if you're along the coastline it feels pretty nice because thewind are so strong, anywhere between nine and 17 miles per hour. wind gusts have b bn reported in the 20s down by the keys. so let's talk about january because we all had to deal with the shower and thunderstorm activity. i dealt with a lot of severe weather live here on local 10 news. believe it or not it was the wettest month or hialeah receiving over seven inches of rain. it's nice to see a surplus. the last few years we've always talked about

miami it was a surplus with almost six inches of rain. it was an amazing january starting off our quote up quote dry season that's been very wet. the wettest january since 1932. we had six storm systems that developed. out of those six storms we had three tornadoes. we covered all of it live on local 10 news. our high temperature were one to two degrees above normal. you need the sunglasses. it's going to be a very warm, humid day as we wait for the storm system producing weather over the mississippi valley. a tornado watch box for parts of alabama this morning. check out the temperatures ahead of the front, the 60s. behind the front temperatures in the30s. the clash of those two air masses provide for the severe weather threat. we will see that possibility of some strong storms moving into our area by thursday night and into friday. rain will return, that
