>> the death of 6-year-old king carter causing unimaginable pain. and then it's hurt. i miss my grandchild! i miss him! >> reporter: through tears and with passion, king's family begged for justice, for someone to step forward. the 6-year-old first grader was killed in a drive-by shooting. simply playing outside his apartment northwest 103 lane in northwest miami-dade. the family and area residents fear they have a crisis on their hands after dealing with shooting after shooting and many with children in way. >> and now it's getting to be twice a week. who is next? who are they going to do it to next? >> there are some people broken in miami. >> even school superintendant alberto carvalho acknowledging this issue greeting king's classmates who arrive at blanton elementary school with grief counselors.

suarez with the latest. carlos? >> neighbors paint the man of the picture who loves his wife and his family. in fact we're told loved ones were behind me when that 911 call was made. tonight that man that lives in the house was recovering in the hospital and facing some serious charges. detectives worked into the night trying to figure out what would lead the man to the 3-hour standoff that ended in gunfire and the 71-year-old man shot. >> there's 3 shots fired and actually came out when we look down the street and seen that ambulance. >> and drama unfolding and it springs. they say the family of richard bueller was state of mind and then it's for the winner that didn't want to talk. >> and refused toome out and

the wrong way wreck discussing deep depssion on facebook. >> laurie: in fact one of his posts discussed a previous suicide attempt. now more from that man's rabbi joining us live from miami beach. victor? >> and laurie and calvin, they tell me the funeral is set for tomorrow where the rabbi said he's struggling to make sense of what happened earlier this morning. this mangled meas of metal, he drove the wrong way crashing head on with ththsemi truck. the impact killed the 26-year-old. the man n and woman in the semi survived. that's s w his life came to an end but only begins to tell the story. >> still have trouble breathing. >> reporter: rabbi mark philippe said for a year he's tried to help the man who battled depression and tried to take his life in the past.

death filled wi warning signs. on friday he wrote about a possssle suicide attempt on facebook eerily similar to monday's crash.quote, i started drive north on i-95 with plans to get on the florida turnpike, drive the wrong way and crash head on into a truck and kill myself. then he wrote pulled over in tears. >> i am devastated. i am still shaking. i am still crying.>> then on saturday temple security called police after he caused a disturbances and congregation members had complained about m. another facebook post. saying "a jew should always be welcomed to pray." the rabbi said he was not permanently banned. earlier today into the night, the fami gathering at his miami beach home coping with the loss. and they're aware of the facebook posts and his history. again, the funeral set for tomorrow.

local 10 news. >> victor, thank you. let's have the follow up file because the judge is upholding a life sentence from michael hernandez who is kikted for fatally stabbing his friend in middle school. hernandez now 26 first received a mandatory life sentence without parole for the 2004 stabbing death in the bathroom at southwood middle school. after the judge upheld hernandez's sentence, the family called it a relief. >> i had asked myself how is someone not sickened by a song about cutting sosoone's throat and watching them die. >> it took us like 2 years back and forth and back and forth and i think that it was fair

and he feels hernandez still poses a that to society. >> calvin: a woman recovering after a roommate she found on craigs list beat d stabbed her repeatedly days after moving in. now learning more about the man behind the vicious attack. we're live at jackson memorial hospital with the update for us. janine? >> reporterercalvin, that 23-year-old is showing some signs of provement. her alleged attacker is behind bars and ordered to stay away. >> sir,r,you have to stay away from danielle. >> reporter: we' told he seemed like a good roommate and successful person. but 2 weeks after 23-year-old danielle jones reportedly found byron mitchell on craigslist to live with her in a miami apartment, cops say he lashed out slashing her and beating her so badly valentine's day she went into a coma. >> i can't -- i can't comprehend how it's popoible that somebody can be so cruel and do such a thing to somebody and try to kill them. >> reporter: while jones is

hospital, we're learning more about 35-year-old mitchell. care industry. >> reporter: this realtor says he met him at a miami networking event, pictured here days before the alleged attack and mitchell said he sold supplements. >> he wasn't all there and the way he would look at you was a little -- a little creepy. >> but mitchell has no record of a violent past. local 10 checked court records from jackson county mississippi, his last known address. no criminal history. in south florida no criminal record either. the military confirms he served in the air force. >> yes, sir. >> reporter: mitchell tells police he acted in self-defense, but what actually happened inside that apartment? detectives are still working to find out. there are still so many questions about this case. mitchellnow faces a charge of attempted murder. we're in miami tonight. i'm janine stanwood, local 10 news. >> we hope she pulls through. janine, thank you. police now know the type of car they're searching for after a teenager was struck in the

northwesesmiami-dade. miami-dade police have released surveillance video of the car actually striking that teenager. the video shows a figure runnnng across the street when he's struck by a silver mercedes sending him flying into the air. 15-year-old javier valdez was on his way to school with his younger brother when he was hit. witnesses say the driver ad the green light but left that scene before police arrived. >> if they would have remained on the scene they would not have been at fault for the crash. they had the green light and the right of way but unfortunately once they leave e scene it becomes more difficult for them as far as the punishment that could be handed to them. >> reporter: police say valdez sat for head injuries in the crash. he was taken to jackson memorial hospital in critical but stable condition. >> calvin: the uber driver accused of going on a killing spree kalmazoo, michigan, made his first court appearance earlier today. jason dalton was arraigned on several charges including 6 counts of murder. police say dalton picked up passengers in between his killings.

and i know you don't want to hear th, but 100 days from today we start our hurricane season in south florida. and get back to the gorgeous stuff and that was today. and picture perfect radar and that's the false return over broward. we're watching some low lying clouds here moving across the area. so mostly cloudy over e next few hours and look at wind speed. it's out of the east/southeast. 12 mph in fort lauderdale. 16 in key west. 9 in marathon. so right now we're still sitting in the mid to low sevens here across south florida. key west here at 73 tonight. we will settle in around 70. as a matter of fact near 70 across dade and broward with the cocler locations such as kendall and right around 68. this is the storm system we're watching here over the next few days over the southeast. several areas of low pressure will develop along this frontal system and the second one will give us enough of a kick here as the jet stream digs on the eastern seaboard to bring us an increased chance of showers and thunderstorms and a pretty big change.

more out of the south so we're looking at tuesday. warm, humid. about a 30-40% chance of some isolated showers around and mainly in the afternooon the southerly wind. here's that second area of w pressure trailing cold front starting to move through our area and bringing us a better chance of showers and thunderstorms. right now the timing looks to be between about 5 and 8:00 on wednesday. and d en eventually clearing out as we go through thursday moing and evening so we're going to watch this timing because if it gets he in the afternoon hours, the atmosphere is a little more primed and unstable. and behind it, that's the big change. we'll see the winds come back out of the north as it's really going to cool us off as we go later on in the week. 2 days here with the increased rain chance. wednesday we'll have more widespread impacts here with that possibility of a line of thunderstorms moving through uth florida. let's talk to the extended forecast here. breezy, warm, clouds early on thursday. notice the temperature difference of almost 10 . by the time from and saturday roll around, breezy conditions.

don't forget >> it was turbulence on the ground that landed on the street. the plane partially broke apart after landing in the neighborod near los angeles and hit several cars as well. amazingly no one on e grou was injured and the pilot was able to walk away unhurt as well. and a miracle in missouri after a tour bus is torn apart after a crash. all 10 people survived. one person had critical injuries. it happened outside of kansas city. the bus had pulled over to fix a flat tire when sipeswiped. 9 passengers and the driver were on board at the time. >> reporter: it's deposition day in massachusetts as the wife of bill cosby answered questions related to the defamation case and it wasn't the last time. camille cosby's attorneys
