degrees is the temperature in pompano beach, 56 in miami. good morning to you in ft. lauderdale, 55. 53 in homestead. i wouldn't be surprised if our temperatures drop a few more degrees as we get to sunrise. eight and 14 degrees cooler than what we woke up to yesterday. a northwest wind continuing to fililr in that cooler, drier weather. kids are going to need a light sweater or jacket as we'll stay in the 50s until about 8:00. highs today only reaching the low to mid 70s. it will be a great way to start the weekend. i'll have more coming up. a gunman shooting rampage leaving several people dead, many more injured last night in kansas. >> we know the shooter has a south florida connection. four people are dead and 14 more injured in the town of heston, kansas. the shooter got into a car there and started driving around shooting at will.

and reportedly chased his co-workers shooting en more people before being shot to death by police. he has been identied as 38-yeyr-old cedric ford. looking into his past, we found the facebook page where he's shooting a gun out in a field. there are pictures of weapons and songs about revenge. witnesses say this man caused pure chaos. >> i thought i was hearing explosions from something blowing up i saw people running out say run, run, run, runand then i started herring pop, pop, pop, pop. >> he has relatives here in south florida. there's a lengthy criminal record for cedric ford down here. he racked up drug and weapons charges in broward county. authorities say so far a motive is unclear but ey havee ruled out

meanwhile right here in south florida gun violence continues to plague the streets of south florida. derek shore has more. it's time to start caring again. >>reporter: marching through the streets demanding change to praying for it, the community coming together after three young people are gunned down in three separate shootings in just five days' time. the latest yesterday 17-year-old david goldldrn shot and killed in this liberty city apartment complex, the spot of this day's shooting. goldbarn's mother too upset to speak but the teen's family is devastated. >> they took another person from my family and i hate him for it. >>reporter: the parents of 16-year-old dekwan gord who is

in the leg just minutes before david goldbarn was hit in the same area. they came to pay their respects >> we feel her pain. >> we feel her pain because that could have been our child. >>reporter: police confirm they have made one arrest in the attempted murder of gordon. 20 aroundntione gilbert is behind bars with more arrests likely. >> are you willing to do that, sir? >> yes. >> mean 18-year-old leonard adams and 17-year-old irwin presley appeared in front of a judge today answering charges related to the saturday shooting death of the -- of king carter. >> they need to take some responsibility as well. >>reporter: so arrests have been announced in two of those cases, but as for the killing of 17-year-old david goldbarn, no

pompano beach home. police iestigating after they found a man shot to death. victor oquendo has more on the investigation. >>reporter: medical examiners removing a man's body f fm inside a pompano beach home. >> it's just very shocking. >>reporter: around 2:00 p.m. broward sheriff's office received calls at 1 0 . when they arrived on scene, they discovered a body and a homicide investigation was under way. neighbors nevadaly looking on as investigators swarm. >> i see a lot of males hanging out around the clock, but not -- i personally. >>reporter: we're told the man didn't live there but other people were inside the home at the time and they are cooperating. >> we live across the street from a ghetto so. it's not the safest place on the planet but all the neighbors are nice people. >>reportrt: so far no official cause of death has beenreleased. this investigation is ongoing. in pompano beach, victor

the south beach wine and food festival finally began last night. >> the festival now in its 15th year. the food network and cooking channel will also be holding events in ft. lauderdale for the very first te. but the main event, yes, miami beach. that's where there's a little something for everywne.

comfortable@ conditions. temperatures are in the 40s. the 40s as far south as orlando. we've got the 50s in west palm beach as well. this is just the beginning of the cooldown. yesterday we saw it in thth 60s. today we're waking up in the 50s. totorrow spots of south florida inland will be waking up to the 40s. you're going to need those sweaters and jackets as we go into the weekend. dry conditions and clear skies. no rain expected in our forecast as we go into the weekend as well. all thanks to high pressure. this is our fair weather friend a where it's located over the southeast, where we see a clockwise wind pattern, so it's pulling into very cool air, arc stick care across parts of the midatlantic mainly the worst of the weather is going to be situated over the northeast and the mid feels-like temperatures will be in the teens for tomorrow. for us we'll enj the cool air pulling into south florida as our temperatures w wl be in the 40s tomorrow morning and low 50s.
