now, a deadldl rampage in kansas killing four people and now we know the gunman responsible from right here in south florida. more than a dozen people are hurt and now investigators are trying totfigure out why this scene happened in kansas. reporter layron livingston is live inthe news room. >>reporter: the shooter lived in kansas but on his facebook page he writes he's from miami. here's a look at that man we're talking about. this is 38-year-old cedric ford when heas ultimately shot and killed by police. that was after ford said he shot and killed three people in heston, kansas. that's just north of wichita. 14 more were injured.investigators say ford hopped into a car, started driving around and shooting at random, injuring two people and he later pulled into the parking lot of excel industries where he workededs a painter. the company makes equipment there in kansas. he chased and shot down his co-workers before he

single police officer. that officer being call a hero this morning. >> decided t t look down shot. we were all just taking off running because that's what you do when you think there's a fire in the building. >> i started seeing woundedeople coming out. some close people, friends, you know, i mean it's never in a million years something you imagine would happen. people you work side by side with every day just in a panic, you know, and what do you do. >> we did some digging into his south florida background and found an old addressn miramar. no one answered when we dropped by thursday evening and records show he lived there unt some time in 2011. he also has a criminal record in broward county including drugs, weapons and theft c crges. authorities say this was not an act of terrorism but rightow they are not clear or releasing

that's something we're working to learn and anything we learn about e situation we'll bring it to you here on local 10 and local10.com. layron livingston, local 10 news. a lot of police activity is taking place in one neighborhood. ben kennedy just arrived on the scene. ben, wha can you tell us about what's going on behind you? >>reporter: good morning, jacey. first iave very few details to share. this is lejeune road and northwest ninth street. a lot f police officers here in the area, they are focusing their attention on the hyundai out there in the distance. it apprs they are talking to the driver and passengers of that car. at this point northwest 42nd avenue, that is lejeune road is completely blocked off going northbound for about i would say a block or two. that just happened in the past ten minutes or so. traffic is being diverted around this area.

burglaries in the area all without wearing any shoes. he stood on a chaha, removed a ceiling tile, pulled himself up. two armed men wearing ski masks burst right in. police say the men went into home's homes and jewelry. one of the robbers tried to fire his gun but it did not go off. a legal setback on thursday. the deputy claims he was in the right when he shot and killed jermaine mcbean who was carrying an unloaded air rifle. a judge sided with the state. his attorney says he wants to know if the grand juror helped indict the officer. >> his daughter was arrested by an bso deputy for d.w.i. and asked to determine the

the cool air all the way down here to south florida. 55or you in pembroke pines as well as kendall. 52s our coolest spot in homestead. the wind moving in from the northwest between 7 and 14 miles per hour down by the keys. we'll continue to see the wind speeds 10 to 15 miles per hour by the afternoon. that has kept the small craft advisory in effect until 10:00 a.m. for you this morning for you beach-goers, a slight risk of a rip current. cooler than what we woke up to yesterday and tomorrow we're expecting even colder conditions so keep that in mind. you're going to need to be bundled up. temperatures in the 40s across the pan and handle. with high pressure in place that's drying up the mid to upper levels of the atmosphere and the surface, that's why we are seeing all of the cloud cover wetl offshore and another system that's going to pull in some cooler air bringing them for snow in parts of ohio up towards the northeast. our high pressure is

accident in miami-dade county. broward county good news. nothing to talk about. miami-dade county bear with me. if you're traveling off the don schula expressway, we're seeing heavy delays for our drivers there. those speeds at 10 miles an hour. traveling off of u.s.-1 southbound, we have reports of a fender-bender. with this one we're not seng any delays at all as you can see those speeds at about 38 miles per hour. not too bad but you're going to see some police out there slowing things down. on the approach to u.s.-1 at southwest 61st street. we have crash there as well. half -- have to get back to the palmetto. fender-bender rhere as you get to the exit ramp. those speeds a little slow but not much to worry about. we have a crash there and then the police activity, lejeune road northbound between fourth and ninthth street. instead take 27th avenue.
