three deductions many people often forget. are you leaving money on t table? good evening. and it's great to have you with us. a make or break night. could donald trump wrap up the nomination? could hillary clinton close the deal? or will bernie sanders supporters decide otherwise? already, the exit polls coming in. voters lining up across five states. this church in cincinnati. outside a polling site in orlando tonight. donald trump telling voters, we can make this happen tonight. but if he doesn't win ohio, will this be a contested convention? and hillary clinton, is she nearly there? what she told our team when asked if she was confident. but right now, the first exit polls. and from ohio tonight, republican voters asked, would they be satisfied if this ends up being a race between donald trump and hillary clinton? more than half, 53% say they'd be satisfied with trump. in florida, even more, 60% say
6:31 pm
trump taking on clinton. that's from preliminary exit poll data right now. so, let's get to it tonight. our team standing by. abc's tom llamas in florida with donald trump. >> reporter: tonight, donald trump trying to barrel his way asking voters for one more big boost. >> tell your friends, vote for trump. i promise you, i am going to do such a great job. single greatest vote i ever cast. state's popular governor, standing in trump's way. john kasich, voting today in westerville. >> what do you have totoay to donald trump today? >> you're not going to ruin my day afr i voted myself for president. i have nothing to say to him. >> reporter: but if kasich wins ohio, trump's chances of locking up theepublican nomination are greatly diminied. potentially forcing the battle to a rare contested convention. kasich today turning up the heat.

6:37 pm
>> david, it's a presidential election, it is always up to ohio, no question about that. and tonight is no exception. if donald trump wins tonight, winner take all in ohio, he has a big lead in florida, as well. he will have the argument that he's won the biggest states, got the most delegates and the momentum. he'll have a real shot of wrapping this up before the convention in cleveland. if he loses, if he doesn't get the 66 delegates, he is going to need to get 60% of the delegates going forward in order to wrapp up this before the convention. the olds of a contested convention go way up. it will be hard to see how any of the candidatesemain in this race can get the delegates they need before cleveland. >> in the meantime, on the democratic side, george, how important is ohio for hillary clinton? >> if she wins ohio tonight on top of north carolina and florida, s'll have a huge delegate lead. almost insurmountable. if she loses, even though she may still add to her lead tonight, she will be signaling weakness in a state that democrats need to win come november.
