this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news". well the rain has moved on but the colds is sticking around. out in university city tonight, folks are bundled up against a bit of a chill. and you might want to keep that cold weather gear handy, as well. at least for a little bit longer. good evening, i'm natasha brown, thanks for joining us, feels a lot more like december out there than november. let's get right over to meteorologist, justin drabick, here to hell you -- tell us how cold and chill at this will get? >> temperatures stay well below average the weekends and into next week, will feel more like december, still not early november. still tracking rain on storm scan 36789 developing storm system off the coast, moving away from the coast, but still, half of new jersey seeing steady rain, ban of some heavier showers breaking out across parts of

burlington, camden, atlantic county, new jersey, and you can see eventually these showers will start to pull away to the north and east. we're dry from philadelphia on points north and west. but here's the estimate of doppler radar so far today from the storm system. couple of bull's eye areas, toward new castle county, cecil county, maryland, then parts of burlington county down atlantic city, two, maybe 3 inches every rain, from the storm system, so far. but the good news is we will start to dry out for the rest of the weekends. temperatures chilly, mid, upper 40's at this hour, factor in the winds, feels colder than that. these are sustained winds out of the north at about 20 miles per hour with higher gusts, we do have windchills values down to the 30's, of course tonight, want to is he the clock back one hour, daylight saving time ends at 2:00 a.m. sunday morning, sunset tomorrow coming in at 4:57 in the afternoon, so getting dark little bit earlier. temperatures wake up tomorrow morning are going to be chilly, many spots, in the 30's, so dress warm. i'll let you know how long the cold temperatures last coming up in the seven day forecast?

traffic. it happened just before 6:00 this morning at bore beck avenue in rhawnhurst. the vehicle did stop. the unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene. the woman died about an hour later at the hospital. >> a woman is fighting for her life after being struck by two cars overnight. right outside of temple university hospital. the first car that hit her stopped. the second just kept ongoing. philadelphia police are looking to see if there is some casino of surveillance video that may have caught a glimpse of the fleeing vehicle. >> and there is new information tonight. police arrest the long time mummer and his daughter in connection with attack on man in queen village. detective believe carman and rita de mat owe are the suspects seen in this surveillance video. the suspect approached the victim at second and carpenter last saturdayment woman hit the victim in the chest with a baseball bat. the man shot the victim in the leg, as he tried to get away. carman dematto, fancy brigade

back in 2006. local k9 officers who took place in the hunt for eric frein, back home sharing their experiences. frein captured at abandoned airport hang hangar thursday after spending 48 days on the run, charging him with first degree murder in the september 12th ambush in which corporal brian dixon was shot and killed. and trooper alex douglas was wounded. officers say frein's capture was a team effort. >> when there were sitings, we brought the dogs out, go from the last possible spot that he was seen, sends the dog on a track, see if he pick up on anything. >> always back of your mind that he could pick you off from anywhere, you wouldn't even see him, plus his traps he had set up, so two things you had to worry about. >> the officers were a part of septa's iron dog challenge. >> this event raises money to help support the family of plymouth township police officer brad fox, who was killed in a line of duty in

subway operations, and mechanics in the city division, as well. >> ♪ >> on the campaign trail tonight, the final weekend of campaigning before election day. in the race for pennsylvania governor, democratic challenger tom wolf made several stops in the philadelphia area today. "eyewitness news", here, catching up with him at cheltenham mall. on sunday, he will join president barack obama, at a rally at temple university. wolf apparently leading in the polls. meantime republican incumbent governor tom corbett rallied supporters in northeastern pennsylvania today. corbett will be in the philadelphia area sunday. he'll be joined by new jersey governor, chris christie, at a rally in bucks county. >> and there is a new place to play poker in philadelphia. players couldn't be happier. take a look. handshakes, applause all around, as the first customers enter the temporary 24 table poker room at sugarhouse,

>> five people were killed early this morning when flames ripped through apartment building in port lan, maine. one person critically injured. he jumped from second floor window, seven others were able to escape. police are still trying to account for several people who had been at a halloween party inside that same building the night before. investigators are still searching for the cause of this blaze. also, los angeles area police are looking for the driver who crashed into and killed three teenage girls who were trick-or-treating at the time. the girls were in a crosswalk near an elementary school in

santa ana when the suv struck them. two men inside abandoned the vehicle, and ran away. police say two of the victims were sisters. the other girl was one of their friends. >> after seven months in a mexican prison, us marine back home in florida now. judge in mexico ordered the release of retired marine sergeant, andrew tamreesei. former new mexico governor bill richard son urged mexican officials to release him on humanitarian grounds. sergeant suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. and tried to kill himself, while in jail. the judge in his order will make it simple, withdrew the charges. it is worth emphasizing entirely consistent with mexican law that their system focuses itself on rehabilitation. >> his attorney claims the

ptsd may have contributed to the marine becoming lost. >> well, medical expert say that we should expect more ebola cases in the u.s. before the ends of the year. meantime, new york doctor craig spencer has been upgraded from serious to stable condition. he's been in quarantine at bellevue for the last nine days. doctor center had been working with doctors without borders in guinea. nurse nina pham meantime, finally reunited when her beloved dog, bently this morning. she was discharged after testing negative for ebola on the 24th. officials quarantine her dog for 21 days, so he never tested positive. wild weather across the country, in southern california, several homes were evacuated after heavy downpours caused mudslides. one man trapped inside his home, he was rescued, no reports of injuries. well, this is the start of california's wet season.

meanwhile, it is to snowed down south, record setting columbia south carolina, first time it has snowed there before november 1st. the previous record was set over 100 years ago. it is also very cold, temperatures expected to fall near or below freezing in part of the south tonight and tomorrow night. how about that? looks like southern temperatures will be colder than what we're dealing here in the delaware valley. check in with weather watch ers, see what's happening outside right now, and generally looking at temperatures in the low to mid 40's, from our weather watchers, and that's what we're seeing across the region, because of the storm system developing off shore. clouds, northerly wind. so let's check on down south near the chore, see what's happening from gregg wood, he checks in at 45 degrees right now, and we actually do see a lot of rain showing up on the shore camera right nowment check it out, the camera is shaking, strong gusty winds, and still raining, we'll show

this on storm scan3. check this out. back edge of the rain kind of pushing a little bit further westward, right now, as storm scan3 does show some heavier rain bands moving into southern new jersey, right now, and eventually these showers will start to come to an end through the overnight hours. but that storm is really developing off shore. but pushing some of the rain to the west. so still under the gun here across southern and eastern new jersey, even parts of delaware, could see some showers. but, pretty much from philadelphia north and west, some clouds, drier conditions, but it is cool. 45 degrees, in allentown, 45 reading, 49 in philadelphia this hour. thirty-seven in mount pocono, and it gets colder north and west. check it out. mid 30's, buffalo, 38 degrees in state college, so that northerly push wind will draw in the colder air, behind the storm system. so yes, actually dealing with little bit of windchill outside right now, so this is what it feels like on exposed skin. low 40's around philadelphia, upper 30s lehigh valley. bone chilling 25 degrees in mount pocono. that's what it feels like this hour with the winds.

and new strong winds will continue during the day sunday, out of the north to northwest sustained 20 to 25 miles per hour. we could have gusts to 30 to maybe even 40 miles per hour tomorrow. the good news is at least the sunshine won't be out. we'll get rid of the rain. fowl foliage report, pretty much at peak across philadelphia and surrounding suburbs, close to peak, extreme southern new jersey, delaware. but the winds will really blow a lot of the leaves off the trees probably in the next 24 hours. enjoy tomorrow, it will be dry, sun, clouds, breezy, cool, temperatures struggle to get to 50 degrees. winds relaxes little bit monday. high pressure builds over us, keeping our skies sunny, still cool this time of year in the 50's. if you want the 60s to return, wait until tuesday. we'll get more of southerly breeze, temperatures actually go above average for the middle of the week. there is the core of the cold air, jet stream, taking big dip to the south. that's allowing those temperatures to really fall across the south, and allowing the snow to develop across south carolina that jet eventually moves up to the north. so we get rid of the colder air by the middle of the week.

tuesday big ridge in the jet stream, allows some warmth to return to the delaware valley. showers do pull away from the coast overnight. looks like by early tomorrow morning dry all across the region, more sunshine through the afternoon, that will be the trend, into monday, and tuesday, you may find few more clouds rolling on in, that's actually a sign of the warmer temperatures that will return to the region. chilly tonight, temperatures down to the 30's, but we rebound to near 50 tomorrow, won't feel like that because of the winds. winds dice down a bit for monday. back into the mid 50's, looks like, for many spots to kick off the new work week. windy, chilly overnight, any showers will come to ends, 39 for center city, little cooler in some suburbs, still windy on sunday sunshine and clouds, temperatures investigate toll 50 degrees, winds again could gust to up 40 miles per hour. extended forecast again, turn the clocks back one hour tonight, a lot of sunshine, in our forecast for monday, tuesday, back to the upper 50's, monday, mid 60s, tuesday, and we keep it on the warmer side for wednesday.

thursday could be few showers around, cold front moves through. then once that front pushes through, we are talking about temperatures back into the low 50's, by next weekend. so, classic november stuff. temperatures all over the place. what it is. >> i have the coat handy, don't worry, and my scar every, too. thanks, justin. rob has the sports? >> probably won't need a coat in houston tomorrow. sixers after rough halloween in milwaukee look to go give the home fans a little treat with the win tonight. steve mason returns to the net for the flyers. they battle the panthers. you want sole college football. we got it including temple making history, penn state pre-game fireworks, don't move. sports is next.
