good morning, family. if you are getting ready to head out a bitter blast, a awaits you. we could be seeing record breaking cold, today. it is wednesday, november 19th i'm ukee washington. i'm erika von tiehl. we will start off with traffic and weather together on this cold, cold morning katie and vittoria keeping an eye on things for us, good morning, ladies. >> good morning. >> we can expect to see bright blue skies here today, vittoria but this is another cold one much like what we saw yesterday. thermometer readings will in the break above freezing in a lot of spots. we should just exceed it in philly but storm scan three is nice and quiet, nice and empty and it will stay that way today but there is still that wind to contend with. this is what it does here, the feels like rally with yous, where it currently feels like

at minimum to 0 degrees in mount pocono, more like 10 degrees up through wilmington, philadelphia and trenton area 95 corridor feels like 10 degrees right now. the here's where we stan. notice, it is cold obviously lower 20's from philadelphia down toward the shore but in the mount pocono area in the lower teens right now. that wind, however is starting to turn down to the shore, a little more southeasterly. now that doesn't mean it is a warm wind but it does help easing up at least of the worst of the wind chill. i don't want to minimize the message. it is not as harsh but still pretty brutal. we will hit 33 at best and then factor in a more modest wind and we are talking about wind chill values in better than the 20's. it is still cold obviously. it is just not as bad as yesterday, vittoria. >> thanks, very much katie. well, traffic is not, yeah, it is kind of.

traffic is a little bit bad out there traveling on i-95 southbound we have delays at the betsy ross bridge down through the vine street expressway. that has to do with rush hour traffic but also because of the construction zones. traveling on the schuylkill expressway we have some delays as well. seventy-six commuting east and westbound within your western suburbs. we will get to that in a second. lets talk about the new jersey turnpike north bound beyond hightstown truck lanes are closed. best alternate toys use route 130. we have a very serious three tractor trailer crash that was three of those tractor trailers were in flames with fire as well. they have been working on that all morning as well as throughout the night as well. as we take a look at the the vine street expressway we have remnant of the earlier situation westbound approaching the area of the schuylkill but not causing a problem. heavier delay will be as you make your way at 76, those ramps, from the vine. 422, eastbound 422 delayed out of the area of oaks down to 202, that usual eastbound traffic. manayunk norristown line is

still experiencing 15 minute delays. they are having wire problems there. good news, new jersey transit back to normal, they were doing busing around 30th street station to head out toward cherry hill. taking a look at our wide, 11 is your average on 95, 23 on the schuylkill, we had an earlier accident on 76 right around the area of 476, and then move to the shoulder. and also traveling on 476 we will drop down to 24 miles an hour, ukee. people in the philadelphia area are used to bitter cold but not in mid-november. now they are bundling up blanket in mid-january. i have to find out how commuters are dealing with our frigid temperatures. hi jan, good morning. >> reporter: ukee, good morning. we are trying our best with our gloves, scarves, heavy coats. it is so cold out here this morning that the city of philadelphia, montgomery county and burlington county in new jersey issued code blue alerts to remine people to bundle up heading out the

door. we are coming to you live from the 69th street terminal in upper darby a and people are husseling to and from trying on get out of the cold and into some warmth and buses and on to the trains. that is same site all across the delaware valley this morning, person after person bunled up with puffy coats, gloves, scarves trying to keep every piece of skin covered. here in upper darby according to my cbs philly weather app we are around 20 degrees but feels worse than that. about 10 degrees colder when we factor in the wind chill. these are numbers many people just don't want to hear this early not season especially like many of these folks catching several buses and trains to work and school. it is a brutal morning to be standing and waiting for a ride. >> i just waiting in my dad's car but he dropped me early. i'm waiting. i don't have that long maybe five more minutes left so it is not that bad. >> reporter: long five in minutes though right. >> yes, it is cold out here.

in storm related incidents. >> we are stress to go people do not drive unless you abs a lieutenantly have to. >> reporter: too often people who have ventured out of gotten stuck. more than 140 vehicles are stranded on the new york state through way, a 132-mile stretch of the highway is now shut down. overnight niagara university women's basketball team was rescued after being stuck on your bus for more than a day. >> we were just filling our gator aid water bottles that we use during games up with snow so that could melt and we could have water in the morning. >> reporter: even emergency crews are having trouble getting around. every night fire fighters were forced to carry a patient to several feet of snow to a hospital blocks away. >> if someone calls 911 and there is 6 feet of snow on that street, that ambulance will have problems getting there. >> reporter: the snow is expect to ease up today but another lake effect snow storm is expected on thursday. don champion for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". you know as vittoria

mentioned earlier problems continue this morning on the new jersey turnpike following a fiery crash last night. all outer truck lanes remain closed just north of exit number eight in cranberry township, cell phone video, showing fiery crash involving three tractor trailer. it happened around 9:00 o'clock last night. we have learn one person was killed in the crash. state police continue their investigation. we have some brand new video just in of burlington county of a land mark there damaged by a massive four alarm blaze. you can see utter destruction there as chopper three is hovering above. yesterday's fire broke out in building number four at columbus farmers market in springfield township. produce row which just opened up moments ago under the parts of the market were spared thanks to firewalls they started to install in the 1970's. no one was hurt. officials are still investigating what may have spark that fire. new this morning, warrington police in bucks county need help finding a missing teenager who has autism. here's the boy, who they are looking for right here 13

year-old steven seder last seen at greens worth south monday afternoon wearing a black jacket and jeans. if you have seen steven you are asked to give warrington police a call. well, happening today two more candidates for mayor of philadelphia will join the crowded field. former philadelphia district attorney lynn abraham will officially launch her campaign today at noon time. abraham was the city's first female d.a. and longest serving district attorney of all. she has been in private practice since not running for reelection in 2009. a few hours after abraham's announcement state senator anthony williams will declare his candidacy. so far three other candidates have started to campaign to replace mayor michael nutter next year. primary is in may of 2015. we're learning more about this investigation in the death of cooper health ceo and his wife. >> courier post reports that john sheridan junior and his wife, joyce, were attack in their own home before a fire

season camera captured this thief walking up on a upper cash i porch and finding baggagees left by a delivery man. police say the ups delivery man was following homeowners instructions. we spoke exclusively with the home owner and we have the story. >> when i first saw it, i was angry. >> reporter: this camera was watching when a crook stole a box of toys off lewis simons porch minutes after a ups delivery but what is more disturbing than a holiday package snapper. >> he used baby as a cover to steel. >> reporter: simon installed cameras around her home last year after someone tried to break in. when she a arrived home last monday night and saw her gate opened and package missing, she went right to the footage. >> this is actually gate in the front that you saw was left opened. >> just the way it is right now is how it was when i came home. this one was opened and the other one down below was opened. i have asked the ups man to leave the package to the right of the front door.

>> reporter: you see ups driver follow the instructions, he dropped the package in view of the camera and then leaves. minutes later a man walks from the porch carrying a child. he stands there until the cozies clear and then makes off with the box full of toys. a panning age meant for lewis simons system. >> that has got to make you man mad that someone you don't know stealing from you and standing on your front porch. >> pretending that they live here. >> yeah, i have a problem with that. >> if i don't stop him and others like him from doing this they will continue to do it to other people. >> reporter: police are now trying to identify the crook and lewis simon is taking precautions of her own. she left a note on her mailbox and door for drivers not to leave packages if no one is home. >> you know, with the holidays, christmas, no one wants their stuff stolen. >> reporter: ups say rather than leaving packages on their front porch you been attended you can change delivery dates and times or even addresses, to a place where someone will be there, to receive it. in south philadelphia, i'm diana rocco for "eyewitness

news" on the cw philly. we have learned that netflix is postponing their launch of bill cosby's new stand up comedy special bill cosby: seventy-seven. that follows a growing number of allegations that the famed entertainer sexually assaulted woman. janice dickinson now claims that she was one of his victims. the former super model told "eyewitness news" -- or entertainment tonight, cosby drugged and raped her in 198 two. dickinson is most high profile accuser in the series of sexual assault claims against the comedian. cost bit's lawyer has previously said they will not comment about these allegations. new accusations from pennsylvania attorney general kathleen cain about the e-mail scandal that brought down several top state officials. she said state workers exchange pornographic e-mails that included children and violent acts against women. but she claims she's not allowed to investigate them. >> i am being stopped from performing my duties as attorney general, my office is being stopped from certain

investigations, and we are being stopped even from telling why. >> reporter: kane says four staffers have been fired and a state supreme court justice resigned after an earlier batch of e-mails was released. our time is 7:16. lets get traffic and weather about our cold. here's katie. >> that is really the story of the day for us and story for the rest of the week for our area in fact. but we want to focus on is what going on portions of the rest of the north east. it is all of the lake effect snow. the winds we have been feeling in parties what you are finding up here to kick that late effect snow machine in high gear. you can see heavy band. i want to zero in on the buffalo area and specifically due east here by about 7 miles where we have seen some incredibly heavy snow. at this hour if you notice how that, band was north, we are seeing precipitation rates of 3.2 inches per hour. as you translate that from the rain to snowfall amounts, doing that ten to one ratio in your head.

they are picking up still extensive snow. lets look at this picture that we found on facebook here. a friend of the friend was commenting on this here. christine hazard, somewhat of an appropriate last name here look at this, this is her doorway. snow busted through paynes of the glass and outer rims of the doorway. unbelievable the amount of snow this region has been seeing. as i mentioned though the wind that we felt was in part what helped cause some of that lake effect snow. is there other factors that go in to it obviously but now we're starting to see that wind ease up a little bit. we will go outside to a live look back here at home at outside middletown ship high school. beautiful view. nothing more than a few little puffy clouds here but it is coal. we have a modest breeze but it is still 23 degrees. 23 degrees. you still have to be bundling up for. that meanwhile in philadelphia a we expect to climb on the thermometer back up to 33 degrees at best here, still obviously very cold, and it is looking forward to tomorrow, this little modest rebound on that thermometer, that is still about ten below the average but we will take what

we can get at this point and we will keep the sun. problem is there is another little cold front that is sweeping through and nothing more than just clouds but it noxious right back in the 30's then by friday and i do think that wind will kickback in. so there is a break in the site down the road but you for now the rest of this week is way colder than average. >> our doors are not getting busted down by snow. >> it could be so much worse. >> that is truth. >> good morning, vittoria. >> good morning everyone. unfortunately i do not have better news to follow-up with that. in just a moment we will show you video of a very serious crash that we had throughout the overnight into this early morning. we are still dealing with the remnants of that crash on the northbound side of the new jersey turnpike. as we look at video from chopper three on the northbound side of the new jersey turnpike, just beyond hightstown the truck lanes are still closed as a result of the earlier accident. three tractor trailers involved. one fatality. as a result of this accident

three of those tractor trailers were engulfed in flames. they have been investigating this situation all morning long. they have extinguish the fires but still the truck lanes are still closed, on the northbound side of the new jersey turnpike, if you are traveling beyond heights crime. so if you are using car lanes, we are not seeing a problem. moving beyond the incident scene before we get there we are seeing delays. keep that in mind f you want to use ab alternate best alternate is to take route 130 in the meantime. as we look at ben franklin bridge you'll notice it is not awful out there we are seeing a touch of, slowing at eighth and vine traveling on the westbound side of the ben but all bridges are moving at a nice pace. cannot say the same for the majors. traveling northbound side of i-95 # approaching 322, we are definitely seeing delays there southbound on the of the northeast down through vine street expressway is another slow point. as it usually is. we are experiencing 15 minute delays, for the manayunk norristown regional rail lines. they are having some wire problems. expecting the usual on 76 and

422. ukee and erika. a new casino is copping to south philadelphia. developers of the proposed live hotel and casino win the cities second casino license. the casino is going to be built near the stadium complex, at packer and darren. the holiday inn at that at will not be torn down but rather refurbish. some south philadelphia residents were already deeply divided over the possibility of a casino in their neighborhood. >> i'm not -- i'm very outraged. if they had not had censorship i would have made that outrage very public. >> we have had a lot of community support. so there is other ones we have to win over. we will win them over. >> there is no timetable on when work on the 425 million-dollar project will begin. we have seen what does the fox say and gotham style. >> stick nothing your head. >> we are seeing latest crazy music video called chick, chick and chances are thihis will be stuck in your head too before you know it. we will she you this and also

good morning, everyone. i'm ukee washington. we have dangerously cold temperatures in the region. here's katie in the the weather center this just in it is confirmed we have officially tied the record low this morning of 20 degrees at philly international. so that gives you a sense of how cold it really is outside. we will send you out to storm scan three which is not showing any signs of life here locally but rather we have beautiful blue skies, sunrise currently underway but thinks an example of a slew of observations in the live neighborhood network where we are in the lower 20's or teens at this hour. very, very cold obviously and we only expect thermometer to reach lower 30's today despite that sunshine but won't feel better than 20's even still with this wind in place here. over next four days no worries

like the 20's as opposed to yesterday where they could not break out of the teens. it could be worth. vittoria. >> thanks very much, katie. good morning, everyone. we will start first with earlier footage of a very serious accident in new jersey on the northbound side of the new jersey turnpike, just beyond hightstown. as you will notice behind me here's mergecy crews were on the scene earlier this morning, to attend to a three vehicle crash. we have had one fatality, being reported and three of those tractor trailers, that were involved had engulfed into flames. so it was quite a sight earlier this morning, and there is still a closing of the truck lanes on the northbound side of the turnpike and what happened overnight. we have an alternate route 130. northbound new jersey turnpike beyond hightstown truck lanes still closed route 130 is your best bet. we are seeing delays even where car lane is as well. if you are traveling on i-95 in the northbound direction of washington avenue we're experiencing police activity which is blocking the left-hand lane. watch out for delays as you make your way in to center

city as well as on the south wide side as you make your way down through the vine. look at the schuylkill expressway, sun glare is a factor in your rush hour commute but westbound and eastbound on the cue kill expressway will not be fun within your western suburbs, ukee. let me show you brand new aerial video of the damage left behind after flames tore through the roof of the burlington county landmark. >> a four alarm fire destroyed a portion of the historic columbus farmers market. "eyewitness news" reporter nicole brewer joins us live from springfield touch ship where an untouched part of the market just reopened, nicole good morning. >> reporter: that is right, produce row as they call it opened around 7:00 o'clock this morning as scheduled but if you take a look at the extensive damage to building number four behind me you can see it will be a while before this portion of the complex is opened for business. right now you can see police are on the scene securing the location until the fire marshall arrives to begin the investigation. as smoke billowed out of

air bag recall could be expanding if the national traffic highway safety administration gets their way. they want takata corporation to recall more air bags to cover the entire country. as cbs news correspondent danielle nottingham shows us that could mean 20 million more vehicles could ab affect. >> reporter: the government now wants a nationwide recall

in flames. everything has been extinguish but they are still investigating there was a fatality with that accident. this occurred on the northbound side of the new jersey turnpike, just beyond the hightstown area. it was a very serious situation, still in the active investigation seen. the truck lanes closed on the northbound side of the turnpike beyond hightstown. traveling in that area your best alternate is route 130. as we talk about the schuylkill expressway, traveling on 76 in the eastbound direction making your way beyond the area of south street we are dealing with the crash blocking the left-hand lane only adding insult to injure for anyone traveling on the eastbound side of 76, trying to get into center city. we have westbound delays in that same area as well and both sides of the schuylkill within your western suburbs are not great on top of. that lets take a look at 422. eastbound jammed approaching the area of oaks down to 202. we have 15 minute delays foreman i young norristown regional rail lines. they have been having some wire problems. and just briefly look at these speed sensors. fourteen on i-95 in and out of the center city and throughout
