"eyewitness news" reporter jan carabao joins us at 69th street terminal to see how commuters are dealing with the deep freeze, jan, good morning. >> reporter: erika and ukee, good morning. i feel like it is warmer out here because sunnies up. but i don't know if that is psychological or not. i'm seeing breath in front of my face this morning. coming to you live from the 69th street terminal in upper darby everyone bundled up trying to rush to and from to get out of the coal weather. it is so-called philadelphia, montgomery county and burlington county of all issued a code blue alert to remind people to bundle up as they helped out the door this

morning. it is a brutal day waiting for a ride. this is the scene a across the delaware valley we are seeing it person after person with the big puffy coat, gloves, and scarves. they are all trying to keep every piece of skin covered here. here in upper darby it had been hovering right around 20 degrees all morning here and felt a whole lot colder i should say, sometimes 10 degrees colder then. that these are numbers not many people want to hear this early in the season but some are still taking it all in stride. lets take a listen. >> i have been bundling up, putting on extra layers. long johns, thermals, as soon as i get in the house i blast my heat to 8o it has been a cold fall, and it is not even winter just yet. >> reporter: back out here live at the 69th street terminal in upper darby, a lot of people i have been speaking to all morning long say that they are just happen that i they are not dealing with snow this morning. we are coming to you live from upper darby, jane carabao for "eyewitness news" at cw

the sunnies up and we get in the later part of the day we will see easing up on that wind and it will mean our feels like values and wind chills are more like the 20's. so yeah, it is still cold but it is harsh to put it that way. expect sunshine to last us all day to day and thinks a quiet pattern but a cold pattern. be ready and bundle up, vittoria. good morning, everyone. good thing is you tune into get ready for your commute outside. you will need prep. traveling on the schuylkill expressway 76 eastbound we are dealing with an accident compromising the ramp from south street to get on the eastbound side of the schuylkill and slowing things down on top of rush hour on top of sun glare. take a look at i-95 into center city southbound is slow out of the northeast down through the vine street expressway. northbound doing okay throughout the northeast but not great in delaware county. approaching the area of 322. expect the usual delays. i-95, schuylkill expressway, and definitely 476 and 422.

as we look at mass transit we are seeing delays manayunk norristown lines, they are having wire problems, 15 minutes there, 101 trolley, 102 trolley, all because of an accident in that area if you are traveling on the northbound side of the new jersey turnpike beyond hightstown still truck lanes are closed during overnight and early morning we had a serious accident involving three tractor trailers, one fatality was reported and they are investigating this accident, and take route 130 let's head back to the desk, erika. we have time lapse video that shows wall of lake effect snow that blanketed western new york. four deaths have been blamed on this storm. as don champion tells us people in the buffalo area are not in the clear just yet. >> reporter: overnight only the heaviest of machinery could get around buffalo, new york. >> plows can no longer plow the snow. there is so much snow it is like plowing a brick wall. >> reporter: paralyzing storm has already dumped more than 4 feet of snow in the area.

time lapse video from tuesday shows massive lake effect snowstorm moving on shore. four people have been killed related to the incident. >> we are stress to go people do not drive unless you absolutely have to. >> reporter: too often people who have ventured out of gotten stuck more than 140 vehicles are stranded on the new york state through way, a 132-mile stretch of the highway has now been shut down. overnight niagara university women's basketball team was rescued after being stuck on their bus for more than a day. >> i was just filling their water bottles up, fill them up with snow so that could melt and we could have water in the morning. >> reporter: even emergency crews are having trouble getting around. overnight fire fighters were forced to carry a patient through several feet of snow to the hospital blocks away. >> if someone calls 91 and there is 6 feet of snow on that street that ambulance will have problems getting there. >> reporter: the snow is expected to ease up today but

another lake effect snowstorm is expected on thursday. don champion for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> 8:06. good news for motorist all north bound lanes of the new jersey turnpike are reopened after that deadly accident in middlesex county. this is cell phone video showing fiery crashing involving three tractor trailer. it happened around 9:00 o'clock last night, in cranberry township. we have learn one person was killed in the crash, state police are still, investigating. now some new video from chopper three showing impact of the massive fire at a new jersey's oldest and largest farmers market. yesterday's blaze destroyed, building four as the columbus farmers market in springfield township burlington county. fire officials say firewalls installed in the 70's prevent it from spreading further. fortunately in one was hurt. produce row opened up as scheduled this morning. happening today, two more candidates have join the crowded democratic field in the race for philadelphia's

mayor. former philadelphia district attorney lynn abraham will officially launch her campaign today at noon. abraham was the the city's first female d.a. and longest serving district attorney in philadelphia's modern history. she has been in private practice since 2009. a few hours after a abraham's announcement state senator anthony williams will also join the race. two other candidates will also campaign, for michael nutter next year. democratic mayoral primary is in may of 2015. we are learning more this morning about the investigation in the death of coupe are health ceo and his wife. >> the courier post reports that john sheridan junior and his wife joyce were attack in their own home, on september 28th. tom wilson a family spokesmen for sheridan's sops released this statement. from the beginning we have said no one wants answers about our parent's death more than us. real answers will only come after a full, thorough investigation. we do not conn down releasing

information in a piecemeal fashion because of frustration with the process. and it is not helpful with getting to the truth about what happened to our parents. we are committed to getting to the truth, and that means we will not comment while the investigation is ongoing. well, tensions have escalated once again in the middle east following a deadly attack on synagogue in jerusalem. president obama is urging palestinian and israelis, to try to remain peaceful as israeli prime minister threatened their strong response, susan mcginnes has details from washington. >> reporter: today israeli security forces are standing guard in jerusalem, police are checking id's at the border, following tuesday's deadly attack on the synagogue in the holy city. >> worshipers return to the scene today to pray for the victim, sitting only steps from window pierced by bullets. >> and, use the meat cleavers,

knives and handgun to target health of morning prayers. police shot and killed the the attackers after they killed five people, including four rabbis, three of them born in the u.s. israelis and palestinians are now trading blame. pennsylvania palestinian president mahmoud abbass condemned the attack but called on israel to stop its provocations. israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu called abbass condemnation insufficient and promised retaliation. here in washington president obama is urging both sides to reject the violence. >> too many israelis have died and too many palestinians have died. >> reporter: in jerusalem israeli police arrested protesters in the gaza strip, dozens celebrated the the killing even handing candy to passers by. all while family members laid victims to rest. susan mcginnes for cbs news, washington. well, coming up at 8:10 new fall out for bill cosby as more explosive allegations are made against the comedian we

a brazen thief is caught in the act stealing a box of toys. "eyewitness news" spoke exclusively with lewis simons the the owner, police say the ups delivery man was only following instructions to leave the package at the front door but moments later, after that package was left a man in a red shirt coming from the right side of the screen carrying a child right there appeared on the same porch and walk off with that delivery. >> just the way it is right now is exactly how it was when i came home. his home was opened and other one down below was open. if i don't stop him and others like him from doing this they will continue to to it to other people. >> police are new trying to identify them and lewis simon has a note on her front door asking delivery drivers not to leave packages if no one is home. sugar house casino is getting some local

not just in atlantic city or anywhere else. we will notice it. it is not as harsh as yesterday was, so it is still there but just easing up here for us. lets go next to the live neighborhood network and show you what it looks like at whitefield elementary school. we have long shadows cast, since sun has basically just come up in the last few hours or so. but with that said if you are in the shadow it will feel very cold. it is cold regardless even in the bright sunlight that solar energy starts to wayne as the the year progresses or as we start to see the tilt of the earth or, you know, just the way the sun's angle hits us throughout the year of course, lets look at locally. we have bright sunshine but off to the northwest you have heard stories about ridiculous amounts of snow falling here across portion s of the great lakes. zero in on one particular community, buffalo, just south of buffalo typically where you see heavier snow bands picking up, a very classic belt area. but over last few hours that

particular band has lifted off to the north. over last hour we have seen three plus inches per hour worth of snow falling in some of these spots, so doing the math here you have seen that over course of two hours we have a half foot on the ground. this is one example of what it looks like out there. tough to tell what you are looking at but you can see shingles off in the distance, pathway carved out between these huge mound of snow, this came in just around that area i just showed you a few miles east of buffalo new york. we will say it again, it could be worse. 33 degrees is our high though back here in philadelphia with that wind starting to kick in as well, it is not as harsh tomorrow looking at sunshine out there and then we will head into friday another cold front comes through dry but will knock temperatures back yet again to the 30's. here we go again, vittoria. >> thanks, katie. good morning everyone w that sun comes sunshine you can see behind me, traveling on the schuylkill expressway making your way in to center

city philadelphia eastbound side is stacked and slow from western suburb all the way to the vine street expressway. westbound it loses up around montgomery drive but you are slow out of university down through the vine and then again throughout western suburbs from approaching the roosevelt boulevard and then all the way out through obviously area of gladwynn and conshohocken. looking at 476, you'll notice, it is not of you travel southbound but north bound we are seeing delays out of the gate of 95 through media, southbound you you are okay here but in the doing so great coming from the mid county tolls and commuting your way down through schuylkill expressway. lets talk mass transit, manayunk norristown lane has been experiencing delays all this morning of 15 minutes having some wire problems there but route 101 and 102 trolley hads been restored so back on time but speed sensors 13 on the schuylkill, one on i-95 southbound in the city, 17 on 476 and watch out for 42

and 95 in new jersey. netflix has scrapped plans to premiere bill cosby's new comedy special as the comedian faces more accusations of rape. latest comes from former super model janice dickinson. she told entertainment tonight that cost which drugged her at a home in lake tahoe back in 1982. when she woke up she said she was in pain and didn't have have her clothes. dickinson becomes third and mess high profile woman to publishly accuse cosby in the last week. cosby's lawyers have previously said they would not comment on the claims. new accusation from his pennsylvania attorney general kathleen cain about the e-mail scandal that brought down several top state officials. she said state workers estrange pornographic e-mails that included children and violent acts against women but she claims she's not allowed to investigate them. >> i'm being stopped from performing my duties as attorney general, my office is being stopped from certain investigations, and we are

good morning erika and ukee. we just to have get used to this weather once again. we have not felt cold like this in quite sometime. because it is so cold philadelphia, montgomery county and burlington county in new jersey have all issued a code blue alert reminding folks to bundle up before heading out. a little more pep in the step for septa ride's cross the delaware valley wednesday morning as the mercury plunged to winter-like levels. >> i have been bundling up, i have been putting on extra layers, long johns, thermals, it feels like in the house i blast my heat to 80, it has been a cold fall and it is not even winter yet. >> reporter: no, not even thanksgiving with people in the parkas, fury hat and scarves nose high we are looking and feeling more like the new year. >> i have a thermal top on, a sweater, a hoodie, my coat. >> reporter: you are still cold. >> no, a ain't cold. >> reporter: folks taking train and bus at 69th street terminal in upper darby were trying to stay positive.

outside working in that extreme cold like our jan. lets get traffic and weather together and latest on this cold, katie. >> that is right, we are sending lots of warm thoughts your way this morning. i know that may not necessarily help very much but with that said we can expect to see some bright sunshine out there today. the problem is what looks to be a gorgeous start of the day, granted, it looks that way but when you tell outside as we have been reporting all morning long it will feel awfully cold. in fact if you look closely it lies like some of that wind is kicking in. the sand blow out towards sea here. so, yes, it is very chilly. the wind is not quite as pronounced as it was yesterday perhaps but it is still noticeable. storm scan three is empty though. we would be seeing snow if we had a system. it is simply cold enough that it would be strictly snow but as obviously that is not the case. however, notice your wind is still out there and it is still a noticeable breeze up to 15 miles an hour after all, up in the mount pocono region. 12 degrees is your current temperature. you hung tough there all morning long. so, no record there.

however, we did officially tie the record low in philadelphia, we hit 20 degrees throughout nine course of the 6:00a m hour. these are values that you need to be dressing for. looking back to what i just showed you here generally in the 20's in most spots it feels like the teens even at this hour. despite the fact that the wind is easing up, however, expect that it will feel no better than 20's across the board here today. so it is just as cold as yesterday although we will keep that sunshine for yet another day, vittoria. >> thanks very much, katie. sunshine for us weather-wise is a good thing but traffic wise it is not that great because it is definitely adding to the rush with that sun glare. so it is slowing things down just a bit, heavier then what we would usually see. traveling on the ben franklin bridge we are seeing delays a approaching mid span as you make your way down toward eighth and vine. once you get to the vine street expressway you'll find delays to and from the schuykill expressway and take a look at this on 76 if you are traveling in the westbound direction between vare and university we do have an accident which is blocking the

left-hand lane, sun glare bouncing off the windshield. adding insult to injure. heading out of south philadelphia, that will affect your commute. is 12 your average on the schuylkill expressway. eleven on i-95. thirty on 476. big delays on 422 out of the area of oaks down to 202. even traveling on the westbound side of the pennsylvania turnpike. traveling man i young norristown line, they were having some earlier wire problems. things are running honor close to schedule. we will continue to keep you updated on those delays, ukee. >> vittoria, thank you. lets look live above columbus market in burlington county where a four alarm fire left one building in ruins. >> "eyewitness news" reporter nicole brewer joins us at that farmers market in springfield township with more on that, nicole, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, ukee and erika, since we last spoke you can see fire crew is a arrived on the scene here. there is smoke coming from that structure. something flammable up a against the wall inside not
