7:01 am
hours through the spine of the appalachian across virginia state line there but we are beginning to see signs of the mixing. if you look really closely around williamsport area pinks are starting to show up. there is an indication that there is colder air working its way in. just a matter of time before we see that mixing take place across northwestern counties. outside to the beach patrol headquarters where surf looks rough and we will see a lot have of clouds and certainly rain falling and somewhat heavily in spots at this point but eventually winter storm alerts will take effect. they have just begun, winter storm warnings have begun now in the pink as of a minute ago, winter weather advisories in the purple go into effect at 9:00 a.m. but we will be seeing that rain/snow line shift south as time progresses here. eventually especially through southeastern pennsylvania we are looking at mainly snow and there will be accumulation to track as a result of that. you want to stay a step ahead by down loading our weather app to help you track what is

7:09 am
yet again. the tensions led to looting, a lone police vehicle was attacked and set on fire. authorities rushed into the crowd and released tear gas. compared to one night ago the national guard is a larger, much more visible presence here tonight, protesters are ordered to disperse or face arrest. >> get out of the street. >> reporter: threats did little to ease the overwhelming sense of up justice expressed by some demonstrators. >> darren wilson murdered someone. unaidable. >> reporter: following monday's grand injury a announcement office are wilson broke his silence n an interview with george steponapolus, wilson describe firing a series of shots at brown after a foot chase and initial altercation in his squad car. >> he gets about eight to 10 feet. as he does that he liens for like he will tackle me. i looked down the barrel of my gun and i fired at what i saw was his head and that is where it went on the top of his led.

plane. that plane touched down in ac around midnight. black friday bargains that make people do the strangest things, they found one determined would be shopper spending the night outside best buy store in cherry hill all by itself in the tent. another 36 hearst or so before that store opens up at 5:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. really, wants that deal. >> yes. all right. lets get the latest on the storm, katie, still rain. >> still rain but i wanted to show you poconos where if you look closely do you you see flakes flying out there, you can tell there is mixing taking place and if i step on this side of the camera there is light dusting that started to accumulate over the course of the last 20 minutes or so. so, it is a sign of things to come, further south you reside and not just poconos but basically the entire southeastern portion of pennsylvania, all of the northern half of new jersey, we're looking at some snow. lets get to it. storm scan three we will see pretty colors we have available out there, red,
7:15 am
orange, greens, all indicating rain but then pinks and purple showing up through the spine of the appalachian. even though it is hard to detect we have it looking closely at williamsport some mixing that is starting to take place. nice wide zoom shows we have more of this storm to get through. as storm rides up basically, a stalled frontal boundary not only intensifying and gathering strength and moisture but it is also going to be gathering and generating its own cold air. that is why we are expecting change over from rain to snow. currently in most spots say for poconos as we just showed you it is too warm for anything but chilly rain, you will see these temperatures decline. in fact we were at 50 degrees when we went on the air at 4:00 a.m. on cbs-3. temperatures have already seen a deficit of 7 degrees now in just a matter of hours. core of the cold, backup towards say, you know, nashville, columbus region. that will join forces with this storm system and that
7:16 am
will help us get that snow. lets walk you through northeast traveling future weather with the mobil weather lab here and all of your different major highways. once that change over happens it is like a switch get flip. we will see that rain turn over to snow, heavy slushy wet variety that makes it just sloppy outside. meanwhile as we go to the southeastern half of the region thinks primarily a heavy rain maker. but that will will slow you down too. we know that very well. heavier snow looks to be mainly through the midday hearst before you we will still have on snow, even into tonight but storm will quickly, retreat, and as it does so, we will have a about half foot to contend with here back through lehigh valley and as far south as up are bucks, chester county, poconos dot best, in philadelphia we are talking a slushy 2 inches or so because we are starting off with the rain. it will really fall to accumulate much more than that. outwards in the forecast it looks like it is so much more quieter but we have to get through today with so many
7:17 am
people outside on the roads trying to fly and take the train. we want to continue our team three weather coverage with meteorologist carol erickson live with the cbs-3 mobil weather lab, good morning, carol. >> we have left the airport and now at other travel hub and that is around 30th street station. i want to show you to see what you will encounter picking up someone or taking yourself to the train station, and heading to other parts. amtrak at this point is not reporting any delays whatsoever and it is not a problem at all, getting into the 30th street station area. you can see we are taking a loop in and find out exactly what is going on but you can generally expect, let me show you a graphic. this is day of travel on the rails, wet rails, and depending on where you go if you go up and down i-95 corridor or where ever the train tracks take you on that northeast corridor you will fine these wet roads and some cases you'll find some snow
7:18 am
depending on what time of the daze you're leaving. on the roads poor visibility is already the sunnies up but you can hardly tell, very glummy looking out here and rain on the roads, slick travel there and also suspect ponding because we could be finding heavier amounts. on the airplanes, well, it doesn't look bad, runways at this point are just wet. there was a flight, that came in from the tampa area, or left from the tampa area supposed to leave at 7:05 and it is long gone up in the air. they are really husseling outside the airport trying to get these planes out and keep to the minimum any kind of travel delays that anybody may encounter and they have the opportunity now. this is window of opportunity, not just for us here at the train station where we are find ago lieutenant of cars park but also at the airport and on the roads as people make their way out this morning and finding not a problem at all. our temperatures mobile weather lab 43 degrees. anything that is falling not
7:19 am
undercover or you the inside it will be coming down in the form of rain but katie is noticing we are seeing that change of as colder air gets in here. not a problem, so far this morning which is good and if you have early travel plans that would probably be a very great move and if you had to have move your plans to make them early, i think you'll be glad did you because later on it will be getting more... but right new not a problem around 30th street. we will head out to the schuylkill to feigned out how those roads are because many people stay in the area so not a bad start, not a great finish to this unless you you go much later on in the day, lets check on the roads right now with vittoria. >> thanks very much, carol. traveling on the schuylkill expressway i know that is where carol is heading right now. it will be bad news bears once you get there. seventy-six is just swarmed with traffic. we will talk about that in a second. let talk about i-95 in delaware county in the northbound direction approaching 322. we are starting to see those
7:20 am
brake light being hit. that is not the only spot on i-95 where you'll fine traffic. southbound i-95 out of the northeast down through the vine swarmed with volume. here's the schuylkill expressway. if carol is jumping on the schuylkill, maybe you are heading down from the airport to the platt bridge and then jump on 76, you will run into this but this is coming from 30th street she will jump on the vine or do maneuver to get on the eastbound side of the schuylkill anyhow it will look like this in short that is what i was trying to say the whole time. head bound direction in university approaching the vine you are jam. then continues to be slow making your way throughout western suburbs at 22 miles an hour. thirteen is your average on 95. thirty-seven on the blue route. traveling from the pennsylvania turnpike 422 eastbound is a bit slow as you make your way out of the trooper. traveling the lansdale doylestown line we are experiencing delays, new jersey transit, dart, amtrak running pretty smooth, ukee. thanks very much. just in time for the holidays it is a new world record for largest gathering or santa a he will l ves.

>> we will show you coming up. >> but first here's what is coming up tonight on the cw philly. a man who doesn't stand still. but jim has afib, atrial fibrillation an irregular heartbeat, not caused by a heart valve problem. that puts jim at a greater risk of stroke. for years, jim's medicine tied him to a monthly trip to the clinic to get his blood tested. but now, with once-a-day xarelto®, jim's on the move.
7:22 am
jim's doctor recommended xarelto®. like warfarin, xarelto® is proven effective to reduce afib-related stroke risk. but xarelto® is the first and only once-a-day prescription blood thinner for patients with afib not caused by a heart valve problem, that doesn't require regular blood monitoring. so jim's not tied to that monitoring routine. gps: proceed to the designated route. not today. for patients currently well managed on warfarin, there is limited information on how xarelto® and warfarin compare in reducing the risk of stroke. xarelto® is just one pill a day taken with the evening meal. plus, with no known dietary restrictions, jim can eat the healthy foods he likes. don't stop taking xarelto®, rivaroxaban, unless your doctor tells you to. while taking xarelto®, you may bruise more easily and it may take longer for bleeding to stop. xarelto® may increase your risk of bleeding if you take certain medicines. xarelto® can cause serious bleeding, and in rare cases, may be fatal. get help right away if you develop unexpected bleeding,

unusual bruising, or tingling. if you have had spinal anesthesia while on xarelto®, watch for back pain or any nerve or muscle related signs or symptoms. do not take xarelto® if you have an artificial heart valve or abnormal bleeding. tell your doctor before all planned medical or dental procedures. before starting xarelto®, tell your doctor about any conditions such as kidney, liver, or bleeding problems. jim changed his routine. ask your doctor about xarelto®. once-a-day xarelto® means no regular blood monitoring, no known dietary restrictions. for information and savings options, download the xarelto® patient center app, call 1-888-xarelto, or visit goxarelto.com. the staff at st. christopher's helped family get in the thanksgiving spirit. though gave out meals to 300 families as part of their fifth annual turkey dinner

crews started prepping roads for many drivers expected to travel on this thanksgiving eve. >> "eyewitness news" reporter nicole brewer joins us from norristown where those penndot workers are already outside on those roads, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. i was remarking ukee and erika that it is pretty quiet here in the penndot yard because much of the preparations got underway last night, and many of those vehicles more than 400 of them by the way already out on the roadways but mother nature certainly has impeccable timing. so before you head out this thanksgiving holiday to get where you are going you might just want to take into consideration penndot's plan of action, in montgomery, chester and bucks counties we are told crews were out by midnight in philadelphia, and delaware counties, those trucks will be in full force, by this morning. so probably in the next couple of hours. we have been hearing that the heavier snow fall will be happening this afternoon. that is when most of the trucks will be outside on the

dot and penndot. >> we are still looking good, katie. >> good in the relative sense is exactly it. if you do have to leave as we have been hearing from jan and nicole and carol from the mobile weather lab, it had has been basically been rain. change over is getting underway. we have been looking at our poconos camera, snow is starting to mix n it is still too warm for anything but chilly rain in reading where west lawn, pennsylvania about you where we have that rain coming down, it is coming down and slow you down naturally but nothing more than then it was, would do. here's a look where we have brighter shades of the yellow, orange, that indicates heavier moisture is falling but here we go a snapshot of the poconos indicates that it is getting cold enough to support that change over at least in a few spots. so it is a matter of time, folks. we have winter storm warnings in effect looking for hazardous travel from the rain but also the snow as the day goes on. winter weather advisories go into effect as of 9:00 a.m.
7:35 am
