>> ♪ >> now at 10:00 mother nature sure has a way with timing. a winter storm slows down one of the busiest travel days of the year. allentown feeling the brunt of the storm and in bucks county a slow go for both drivers and pedestrians as wet surfaces get more slippery as temperatures drop. >> icy conditions are a concern tonight in chester county. drivers there are being advised to take it slow especially on what are untreated roads. here is storm scan3 at this hour. it shows the storm has now moved up the coast but we are not yet completely in the clear. many parts of the region will see below freezing temperatures tonight. good evening, i'm chris may. >> i'm jessica dean. we have all angles of this storm covered with our winter weather team spread out across the area. we'll start with meteorologist kathy orr who is tracking the next weather concern. >> right now we're talking about a few random snow showers. you can see right here through the pine barrens of new jersey moving towards the northeast, everywhere else we're looking at dry conditions. right now 37 in philadelphia,

wilmington and wildwood. temperatures above freezing with the exception of the poconos but that will change. we have northwesterly winds between 10 and 15 miles an hour. they will slowly be diminishing. the big story is tomorrow morning. here's what we'll wake up to, around freezing at the atlantic city airport and dover but many temperatures below freezing and that will lead to some icy concerns. here's a look at some of those snow amounts around the philadelphia area and our suburbs. the poconos 8-inches of snow, our highest accumulation. new tripoli 6-inches, new castle delaware .3 of an inch of snow. kate bilo is out and about in collegeville with the live mobile weather lab to talk more about what comes next. good evening, kate. >> reporter: good evening kathy. near collegeville one of the hardest hit areas with this storm we still are dealing with the slush and the slop although the snow has finally stopped falling.

take a look at what we're dealing with. you can see melting here. look at the heavy snow on this i wasn'ting in downtown collegeville. notice the dripping. it is starting to melt, temperatures still above freezing but everything is going to freeze up tonight as we go below freezing. take a look at the slush on the ground. this is all going to be super slippery. walk this way and you can see how slushy the ground is here. look at this slush next to the cbs3 mobile weather lab. when temperatures drop below freezing this could turn into an eyes rink. let's take a look at the temperature. we're seeing some melting right now. it's actually 35 degrees now that the snow has stopped here in collegeville but like i said this was one of the hardest hit areas. let's take a look at our snow amounts map. a trace in philadelphia, around 3-inches in collegeville, allentown with over 4-inches. everyone we talked to in this area tonight was impacted in some way by today's winter

weather. heavy, wet sloppy snow blanket north and west sections of our region on wednesday. in collegeville the snow prompted prethanksgiving cleanup and led to travel slowdowns. >> we were coming in from philadelphia. we just went into to visits some friends. can coming home took a bit longer than it would have. >> reduced my speed and played it safe. >> reporter: the snow didn't stop shoppers like devon wilson who was trying to score preblack friday deals. >> it was snowing real bad when i was on my way here but it stopped now. i can get home safe. >> reporter: lindsey estimates the area got -- >> definitely 3-inches maybe, probably more. everything is probably going to freeze overnight so it's just going to get worse. >> reporter: while the grownups among us may not be ready for this early blast of winter weather. >> no, i'm over it. doesn't need to happen right now. it's november. >> reporter: for the kids already off from school for the holiday this perfect snow man making snow was just the ticket on thanksgiving eve and

the dogs liked it, too. now as you heard lindsey mention earlier everything is going to freeze overnight, driving concerns out there. if you're heading before early on your thanksgiving morning be careful, black ice is expected all across the region. reporting live in collegeville tonight, i'm cbs3 meteorologist kate bilo for "eyewitness news" on the cw philly kate thank you. new tonight weather might have played a role in a crash on the pennsylvania turnpike. a tractor-trailer and a car collided along the northeast extension in worcester township montgomery county. the crash happened in the southbound lanes just before 6:30. there were no serious injuries "eyewitness news" reporter todd quinones has his eye on road conditions tonight along with many other drivers in chester county. >> reporter: late into the evening the snow still continue to do fall in paoli. as far as roads are concerned, take a look. they are wet but they certainly are clear. it was a snowy slushy mess

that kept contractors busy throughout the night in chester county. most of the accumulation into the evening hours here was in the parking lot and driveways. >> it's been snowing since about 1 o'clock. hasn't stopped since and we constantly trying to keep up with it. we're kind of falling behind imcaylee had the pressure of brushing off the snow off her car after working all day when she drove to work from elkton maryland she worried about the ride home. >> when i first crossed the border into pennsylvania is when it first started to snow into snow from rain and it was mostly sleet at that point. >> reporter: much of the coverage area became primarily a salting operation. plowing was limited to secondary roads in the upper regions of chester county. the concern now turns to the late evening and overnight hours as the temperatures drop. >> i really thought it will be a little slippery in places. advising motorists to be careful. drive slow ill. >> reporter: you came up from that florida? >> uh-huh. >> reporter: welcome to pennsylvania.

>> thank you. >> reporter: robin drove up all day from the sunshine state. but for locals this snowstorm was a singe. >> no problem in the morning. >> reporter: penndot crews will remain on area roadways spreading salt when needed to try and prevent roadways from freezing over. reporting in paoli chester county, todd quinones for "eyewitness news" on the cw philly. >> the storm has caused plenty of air travel issues. philadelphia international airport tells "eyewitness news" they've had about 20 cancellations tonight, 10 outbound and 10 inbound. in all today, flight aware.com says the storm caused more than 250 delays and 170 cancellations here in philadelphia. plenty of other people catching trains out of philadelphia for the holiday. this is a look at 30th street station where riders dealt with delays throughout the day. though not all of them were weather related. amtrak will have extra trains on the tracks throughout the holiday weekend. and you can stay one step ahead of winter storms by

"eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers is live in northampton with more. matt. >> reporter: chris, 53-year-old gregory graf was arraigned on champs earlier this evening. he is charged with killing a woman who had been his stepdaughter for nearly two decades. jessica padgett disappeared last friday. ler alleged killer, her stepfather was charged with her murder five days later. >> he did admit that he intentionally and knowingly caused the death of the victim. >> reporter: gregory graf was at his northampton home when padgett arrived friday morning to send a fax. a confrontation began ending

with graf shooting padgett in the back of the head. as to why. >> there's clearly some motive that involves a sexual assault. >> reporter: during his confession he also told investigators he buried her body behind a shed on his property. that's where police found her wednesday morning. >> it's just been -- you know, i really have a hard time putting words to it. >> reporter: jim wilkins lived across the street from padgett a woman he called kind hearted. he organized search parties in the days following his disappearance groups that he says included gregory graf. >> to keep up this facade, you know, is just -- it's unreal. >> reporter: thousands of people had joined the search joining a facebook page dedicated to finding her. tonight, the comments on that page turned from hopeful to tearful remembering jessica padgett. >> unfortunately there's three children now that are left -- left behind without a mom, you

know. >> reporter: and the padgett family did release a statement to "eyewitness news" not long ago saying in part "we have did he have state by the loss of jessica. she was a beautiful vibrant young woman who was beloved by her family and friends. "the district attorney in northampton county also tells us he's considering the possibility of seeking the death penalty in this case. we're live in northampton tonight, matt rivers, "eyewitness news" at 10:00 on the cw philly. >> matt thank you. devastating news there. devastating news in this other family tragedy in tabernacle burlington county. the final remaining victim of a murder-suicide last week, 11-year-old alexander herman died at cooper hospital today. investigators say her man's mother 44-year-old jeanine la page shot and killed her three children. lepage died last weekend. in ferguson missouri they're bracing for more probable trouble overnight following two days of violence and protests. some business owners spent this day cleaning up damage

from protests and trying to get back to normal. meantime some who continue to be upset with the grand jury's decision not to indict the officer, darren wilson, in the shooting death of michael brown rushed into saint louis city hall. police locked down that building and called in more than 100 officers. in the end three people were arrested. well, tomorrow so many will come together, eat a great meal and then of course go shopping. >> thanksgiving is transforming into a busy shopping day but what are the best deals if you're venturing out after the big dinner. consumer reporter jim donovan has the rundown. >> the presidential pardon. a couple birds breathe a sigh of relief. >> getting last minute items for last minute feasts but icy conditions are a big concern this evening. kathy. >> we'll show was to expect come tomorrow morning and as we head through the holiday weekend, will we have better weather on the return sunday?

>> fantastic. >> the storm is gone. now we're talking about icy concerns for the morning and our weather watchers are showing us a variety of weather across the region. first let's start off with reviewing some of the time lapse pictures we have here. great one from kevin wilson. take a look at this. here's the backyard. you can see the fire pit, not much there. little snow on the ground. more snow. the most snow. about three to 4-inches where he lives north and west of the city of philadelphia. as we look a little bit further into some of our wonderful weather watcher totals you can see temperatures in the 30's but the snow accumulations continue. i'm going to take you to the south first where it's 39 degrees. greg is saying ocean view it's comfortable and then over to the north and west where it is 34 degrees and gary is saying, yes, the snow came and it went but he has a total for us, 2-inchs in avondale pa. winds right now to the northwest at 10 miles an hour. thank you gary.

in delaware we picked up a inch in greenville, hockessin white clay. 37 right now in the city, 35 in millville, 29 in the poconos with temperatures falling very quickly overnight. quakertown 32. doylestown 33 and right now in willow grove, it is 35 degrees. so, as our storm pulls away the cold will continue for your thursday, thanksgiving day, 40 degrees for the turkey bowls and the turkey trots. a stray shower or sprinkle possible with this low sinking to our south in the afternoon. friday it's cold, temperatures in the 30's, some sunshine and breezy conditions. saturday we bump it up into the 40's. so overnight look for a low temperature of 32. watch for black ice. the high tomorrow 40 degrees and as we look ahead we have a big football game tomorrow but no weather worries in dallas where the eagles take on the cowboys. 61 degrees. and if you're planning on
