yoplait. smooth, creamy, and craved by the whole family. >> ♪ >> from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia, this is cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> developing now at 10 o'clock, one of temple's most famous alums is parting ways with the university. the comedian bill cosby resigned from the board of trustees amid a recent wave of sexual assaults allegations. good evening, i'm chris may. >> i'm jessica dean. though he's never been criminally charged the sheer number of allegations has been hard to ignore. "eyewitness news" reporter todd quinones is live at temple university with details of today's announcement and also reaction from campus. todd. >> reporter: jessica, the weight of the mounting firestorm apparently was just

too much. it collapsed an iconic philadelphia connection. he was a face of temple university. cosby's ties here run deep. speaking at graduations, motivating future generations. >> a lot of people look up to him. so, he does have a great impact on the students. >> reporter: cosby's legendary relationship with temple came to an abrupt end monday. numerous old allegations have resurfaced and new claims too. now more than a dozen women claiming to have been drugged and or sexually assaulted by cosby overt past several decades. the 77-year-old philadelphia native resigned from the board of trustees of temple university writing in a statement i have always been proud of my association with temple university. have i always wanted to do what would be in the best interests of the university and its students. as a result, i have tendered my resignation from the temple university board of trustees. cosby has never faced criminal charges and he has denied all the allegations but the move further complicates how students we talked to feel about the scandal and cosby himself.

>> when everything was coming out i was like that is not true. it can can't be. seeing him resign from temple i'm like zero is this true. >> understandable vealed to resign from temple. you know, bring all the attention towards this university. >> reporter: according to temple's web site cosby was a member of the board of trustees for academics. he had served on the board for 32 years for its part temple release add statement saying the board of trustees accepts dr. cosby's resignation from the board and thanked him for his service to the university. a change.org petition drew more than a thousand signatures urging temple to cut ties with cosby. the petition was created last week by 2005 temple graduate terry potter mccormack. >> i'm happy it doesn't seem like he's going to have a continuing relationship with temple. >> reporter: cosby is also a graduate here of temple university. reporting live tonight in north philadelphia, todd quinones for "eyewitness news" at 10:00 on the cw philly all right, todd, thank you very

much. we are following a couple of breaking stories right now. the first from west philadelphia. two people have been taken to the hospital after a row home fire on media street. we're told that a 16-year-old was taken to chop after breathing smoke. a second victim has been transported in unknown condition. also breaking right now, investigators are on the scene of a hit and run in southwest philadelphia. a young man was taken to the hospital tonight with serious head and internal injuries and we have just learned that man is in critical condition. police are looking for the driver of a volvo station wagon that they say fled that scene. >> new tonight, we are hearing from the man who accidentally drove his car into his townhome triggering a big fire. "eyewitness news" reporter david spunt is live in newark new castle county with the man who caused this mess. david, what's the latest tonight? >> reporter: jess, today crews are still on the scene. they've been here since about 1 o'clock this afternoon. people are devastated.

they've lost everything. we're talking about a lot of damage here according to the fire marshal and the man i spoke to tonight says he's sorry but he's lucky to be alive. the video tells a terrifying story. and now the man who says he accidentally started it all told "eyewitness news" he's sorry about what happened and he's lucky to be alive. >> we lost everything. it's all gone. >> reporter: he still had ashes on his hands as he told us he intended to back the car up to go shopping but instead, he drove forward. >> this car hit the gas tank outside, gas meter and it exploded. >> reporter: the fire quickly spread next door. that's where brian archie's family lives. >> hopefully westerly able to salvage some of the stuff in the house. >> reporter: crews were still cleaning up late into the evening. police say another resident suffered minor smoke inhalation.

>> more than 30 years. all our good memories. he says losing everything he owns is painful enough but to know others lost their homes hurts him even more. >> it's very sad but luckily nobody is injured. everybody is safe, me my wife and all the neighbors. >> reporter: the state fire marshal say the damages are about $300,000. police announced tonight they are charging him with inattentive driving. we're live in new castle county delaware, david spu in. t "eyewitness news" at 10:00 on the cw philly. >> we are closely watching the weather tonight. it was an unusually first night -- unusually warm first night of december. "eyewitness news" in university city as the rain started falling this evening. got a little bit of everything going on. meteorologist kathy orr is back with us after a great holiday tree lighting in moorestown. kathy, some wintry weather right around the corner maybe? >> yeah, boy did it change really fast, chris. this afternoon temperatures were 15 degrees above normal in the 60's now we're tracking

rain, a little bit of a wintry mix as well. you can see on storm scan3 where you see the yellow that's pockets of moderate rain. elsewhere just some scattered showers and sprinkles. we'll put it into snow mode and you can see a little bit of a wintry mix or a few flurries up through the lehigh valley. we're going to be seeing the precipitation special to the north and west of philadelphia getting a little wintry during the day tomorrow. right now look at these numbers. 44 in philadelphia, 40 in trenton, 39 in allentown. cold enough for snow in the poconos. here's a look at what we expect during the day tomorrow. snow and sleet as you head towards the poconos, snow and rain in allentown and the lehigh valley, rain for philadelphia and its suburbs south jersey and delaware. we'll be seeing a light coating on the grassy surfaces in the poconos by late afternoon. lehigh valley snow to rain, just some wet roads and of course in the city just a chilly rain during the day. delaware and south jersey light rain with wet roads. precipitation will start during the day tomorrow, so right now i'm not concerned about the morning rush.

we'll talk about the evening commute coming up and plus the seven-day forecast later in the broadcast. chris and jess, we'll send it back to you. >> all right, kathy, thank you. a big responsibility for philadelphia's top cop. police commissioner charles ramsey has been chosen to chough chair a washington task force on 21st century policing. >> cbs correspondent mark albert tells us more about president obama's hopes to build trust between the public and police. >> reporter: president obama brought together young civil rights leaders elected officials, community and faith leaders along with law enforcement to talk about building trust between police and the communities they serve. >> this is not a problem simply of ferguson, missouri. this is a problem that is national. >> reporter: the president is proposing a three-year, $263 million package to expand training for law enforcement agencies and provide more resources for police department reform. the plan includes $75 million

to buy 50,000 body cameras for officers nationwide. >> we believe that body cameras will make a substantial difference. >> reporter:. >> a body camera is not going to stop someone from shooting somebody. it's going to tell you the fuller story. >> reporter: the president is also using an executive order to create a task force on 21st century policing that will look at how to reduce crime while building public trust. >> i'm convinced that if we work hard, that we can make sure that police officers and the communities they serve are partners. >> reporter: in a meeting with cabinet members monday, the president focused on federal programs that give military gear to police. a three-month white house review found a lack of consistency in how those programs are run. at the white house, mark albert for "eyewitness news" on the cw philly. >> well, commissioner charles ramsey will be live on "eyewitness news" tomorrow morning at 6:30. make sure you join ukee washington and diana rocco as they discuss the work that of task force with the

commissioner. >> new details emerging tonight about the night west chester university student shane montgomery disappeared. as the frantic search for him continues, the reward in that case could grow even higher. police searched from the sky late into the afternoon on day five of the search for shane montgomery who disappeared early thanksgiving morning after last being seen at a manayunk bar. >> what we really need is someone to give us a tip so that we can start heading in the direction that will lead to us shane. >> in roxborough shane's aunt. management at kildare's irish pub clarified details from the >> nonto the best indicated when he left the restaurant. that nervous is consistent with those statements. >> it was originally reported shane stumbled into a dj booth

shooting. we're told in the end no one was injured. >> hollywood studio trying to solve a real life mystery. sony pictures entertainment was the target of a cyber invasion. north korea is one of the suspects. hackers released five unreleased sony movies to file sharing web sites. >> we've been together for a thousand episodes. >> reporter: in sony's up coming comedy the interview tv journalist played by seth rogen and james franco are recruited to assassinate north koreaian leader kim jong un. >> would live it if you could take him out. >> hm? >> him out. >> for drinks? for dinner. >> on the town. >> no, take him out. >> reporter: the film has become a source of international controversy. when north korea vowing merciless retaliation for its release and calling it an act of war. last week cyber attackers identifying themselves as

guardians of peace hacked into sony pictures' computer system. this repeated screen shot is what popped up on employees' computers prompting the company to initiate a widespread system shut down. according to technology news site recode sony is investigating whether the hackers had ties to north korea. >> it looks like this is going to continue to get bigger before it ends and if i were sony i would be prepared if they come out with the movie the interview on december twenty fiveth to expect stronger attacks from north korea through their operatives around the globe. >> ♪ >> reporter: over the last few days, five unreleased sony films have been leaked on the web. annie, mr. turner, still alice, to write love in her arms and the new brad pitt movie fury can be which has been down leaded more than a million times through piracy web sites. so far sony is remaining tight lipped about whether the leaked movies are related to

you can see during the day tomorrow we have high pressure to the north keeping that northerly flow and the cooler air over us. the temperature only around 40. so as we watch this front move back northward, we will see precipitation overspreading the region. tomorrow morning in south jersey, yes, a little bit of precipitation during the late morning hours it moves back toward the north and we'll see a little bit of a wintry mix and then by wednesday, the warmth is really through the region. temperatures are back in the 50's. thursday we cool it back down with this second cool area of high pressure but at least it's sunny and temperatures will be back into the 40's. little bit below average but not too bad. so, this is what our future weather is setting up for tomorrow morning. maybe even a little bit of wet snow through south jersey and also delaware as the cold air is still in place early in the morning but that quickly goes away over the course of the morning hours and then you can see the clouds right here over philadelphia for the early morning but as the afternoon progresses, conditions will also continue to improve. high pressure to the north and

west will keep cold air locked in and you can see the radar until in during the during the n and then by the evening a lot of warm air and everyone is seeing the precipitation falling as rain. it's completely out of the region by early wednesday morning. as we continue to look at the possibility of snow with this, maybe a grassy coating, that's just about it through the leaf and heading toward the poconos. for the rest of us it will be just mainly rain. overnight cloudy with a few showers possible especially through south jersey and delaware, the low 35. tomorrow a chilly rain for philadelphia, a wintry mix to start to the north and west and on the exclusive eyewitness weather seven-day forecast, wednesday 52 with some showers. cooler but at least the sun comes out thursday. then a chance of rain friday, saturday, even sunday and then some sun on monday. so, keeping eight little bit damp but 50 is seasonable for this time of year. so, so far december looking a little bit better than november. >> it was a chilly november, no doubt about it. >> yes. >> all right, kathy thanks. >> go december. >> beasley is here now, g
