>> ♪ >> from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia, this is cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> a die-in demonstration in south philadelphia. protesters set up at the sports complex as 70,000 eagles fans exit lincoln financial field. good evening everyone, i'm natasha brown. thanks for joining us tonight. many are still looking for an outlet to vent their frustrations over grand jury decisions not to indict police officers for deaths in ferguson, missouri and in new york city and tonight hundreds gathered at broad and pattison for a die-in. matt rivers is live with more on this developing story. matt. >> reporter: natasha, the protest tonight was calm and peaceful. there were no injuries or arrests throughout this process as hundreds of protesters lied down in that intersection behind me

rerouting traffic for tens of thousands of eagles fans leaving the game. the game ended and hundreds laid down. a die-in protesters called it in the shadow of lincoln financial field. moments earlier they aired their concerns. >> city has for years and years has been involved in brutality. >> reporter: they lay in the street for four and a half minutes in honor of michael brown the unarmed teen killed by police who lay dead on a ferguson, missouri street for four and a half hours after being shot. tonight's gathering focused broadly on what organizers called police brutality. >> who take the lives of black children for granted and who say those lives don't matter. >> reporter: chanting as they rose from the ground protesters blocked traffic onto 76 for a few more minutes before heading back to the sidewalk. but other streets remained closed shut down by police as they steered tens of thousands of fans leaving the game around the protest. officials were pleased at how it turned outer.

>> people have the right to their opinions and they have the right to protest, that's what this country is founded on and we have the obligation to protect everybody. >> reporter: there was some anger amidst people leaving the stadium. eagles postgame traffic isn't good on its best day and the protests did make congestion worse. still there was patience among those we spoke too. >> for the most part everybody knew what was coming. >> reporter: protesters say the die-in at a major event is a way to create broader awareness. >> we got to make sure this voice keeps getting heard and the voice of justice in this world keeps getting heard. >> reporter: the group that led tonight's protest is called power an interfaith group of clergy men from across philadelphia. their leaders say they plan on holding similar events in the near future. we're live in south philadelphia tonight, matt rivers for "eyewitness news" at 10:00 on the cw philly. >> matt thank you very much. family and friends of

shane montgomery are hoping eagles fans can help in the search for the missing college student. they handed out fliers to tailgaters before the eagles game today. it's day 11 and still no sign of montgomery. he was last seen leaving kildare's pub in manayunk early thanksgiving morning. the reward has increased to $50,000. turning to our weather now, it wasn't a bad day out that, not at all today. "eyewitness news" on walnut street earlier where plenty of folks were out doing a little holiday shopping. justin drabick is here with more on the work week forecast. i guess we should get that shopping in while we can, justin. >> that's right, natasha, get in it tomorrow because we're going to see steady rains moving in late tomorrow night into tuesday with our next coastal storm. little chilly outside dan the winds still kicking up out of the north and that's going to be a continuing over the next 24 to 48 hours. these are sustained winds around 15 miles per hour in philadelphia but notice the arrows coming out of the northeast and that persistent on shore flow will start backing up the water along the coast and delaware bay so

watch out for tidal flooding for tomorrow morning and that should be the trend into tuesday with the next storm so coastal flood watch continues for new jersey and delaware. temperatures getting cold with clear skies already widespread 20's in many suburbs, 30 at the airport. clear at the moment. clouds moving in from the west. few clouds around overnight. temperatures tomorrow morning near 30 for the city and the suburbs going to be well into the 20's, even low 20's up in allentown and teens in the poconos. with the cold air in place as moisture moves in from our next storm we could be dealing with snow especially in the mountains. coming up in the full forecast we'll talk about the dry conditions tomorrow. then uricases we'll mention the impacts coming up in the full forecast in a few minutes. natasha. >> thank you justin. we'll see you soon. there were demonstrations outside the sports complex today. inside lincoln financial field the eagles lost a critical game to the seattle seahawks.

let's can check in with beasley reece in the sat center with more on this game and what happened out there beas. >> the eagles had a chance to show that they are an upper echelon team but it was a seahawks showing why they are still the champs. let's take a look at it. eagles knew they had to contain russell wilson. easier said than done. second quarter trent cole bit and 26 yards later it's a touchdown. the super bowl m.v.p. wilson threw for 263 yards and two touchdowns and seattle's defense held the eagles offense to a chip kelly career low of 139 yards the final score 24 to 14 and still the champs seattle. >> establish the run. thought we could do a better job up front. didn't get that starter the way we wanted to get it started. we had a couple shots there. we got them with our one play but besides that there wasn't a lot to write home about offensively today. >> they have a sound system. they have great players in every spot so like i say we

just didn't really give our best showing out there and that was unfortunate 'cause that would have been a good one for us. >> no problem. three divisional games left. we'll win those and win the division. lesley van arsdale will have more highlights from this game and locker room reaction coming up in sports. natasha. >> beas thanks so much. good samaritan is in critical condition after being hit while rendering aid to another motorist on the highway. those who know him aren't surprised. he's an emt and volunteer firefighter and that's why they say he would stop to help. our traffic camera captured the scene near exit nine in tinicum township. police say daniel calaway of wilmington delaware got out of his car just before 5 o'clock this morning to help another driver that had hit a guardrail. an suv hit the disabled car sending it crashing into the 31-year-old. one person is dead, another is hospitalized after a fiery crash on i-78 in union township, new jersey.

investigators tell us a driver of an audi entered the westbound lanes from the garden state parkway yesterday driving into the pathway of a fuel tanker. the tanker burst into flames spewing black smoke. the driver of the audi was killed. the tanker driver burned through the windshield of the burning truck and he's listed in critical condition. police are investigating a homicide in southwest philadelphia tonight. investigators say a 67-year-old man was found tied up with bruises on his face inside a van at a storage facility. he was found shortly after 3 o'clock this afternoon at locker room self storage in the 2200 block of 62nd street. he died at the scene. no word on his identity just yet. a present for you at the pumps, even lower gas prices is always good news. gas prices dropped another 12 cents over the past two weeks. the lundberg survey says the current national average is $2.72 for a gallon of regular.

drivers in san francisco pay the most. those in albuquerque pay the least. let's check our prices. according to aaa pennsylvaniaians are paying $2.88 on average for a gallon of regular. into jersey and you'll pay closer to $2.58 while to exin delaware they can top off their tanks for about $2.74. now, philadelphia parking authority kiosks around the city they're having some technical issues right now. the machines are having trouble reading credit cards. "eyewitness news" reporter steve patterson tells you what you should do if you received a ticket near a kiosk this weekend. >> reporter: here is is an opening line nobody wants to hear, parking problems in philadelphia. >> i would like to apologize for this and ask the general public to be patient. >> reporter: that is the voice of philadelphia parking authority executive director vince fe mdr-tb. officials discovered a technical problem at those green parking kiosks

preventing the machines from accepted credit card payments. without cash a lot of people parked anyway hadn't tickets written. >> yeah. >> reporter: philly's lauren benjamin says she's one of those people. we asked if she was going dispute the ticket but she says well in her case she also double-parked. >> i already paid the ticket. i was -- yeah, the sign was a little bit more clear than i thought it was. >> reporter: ppa officials aren't sure how many laurens there are out there. as part of sunday's mea culpa offering a free day at any credit card based machine and asking anyone with app ticket to send in a complaint on the ppa web site unless of course you've double-parked. >> customer card information is absolutely safe. that has all been checked. it's not a hacking incident whatsoever. it is totally a communications failure. >> reporter: so, monday, if you are parking, bring cash. this free day ends sunday but the ppa says they are working with vendors to try and fix the problem once and for all. if they don't have it solved

hess was with him for the ceremony. in the wake of the protests meantime all across the country for the police-involved deaths of michael brown and eric garner everyone is weighing in on the topic of race. in a recent interview former president george w. bush said he found the grand jury decision in the garner case hard to understand. >> very disturbing to me and yeah, i mean, it calls into question what needs to be done to heal -- to get the country united again but no question -- this incident shows there needs to be more. >> six men held hostage for more than a decade at a u.s. military prison at guantanamo bay cuba were released today. cbs news correspondent omar villafranca tells us they're the first from the base to be sent to south america. >> reporter: the six suspected militants with possible ties to al-qaeda were examined at a military hospital in uruguay. the men four syrians a

tunisian an palestinian were cleared for refleas 2009 but could not be sent home. the u.s. struggled to find a place for them until uruguay's president agreed to accept the prisoners as a humanitarian gesture. he promised to help the men get established in a nation that has a tiny muslim population. one of the men has been on a prolonged hunger strike and is suing the government for use of videotape showing forced feeding of detainees. >> he wants to see -- of course he wants to see his wife and kids again. >> reporter: the men were never charged during more than 12 years at guantanamo bay. president obama has vowed to close the prison but congress blocked the move and put restrictions on where the prisoners can be sent. zinn's developments come ahead of the expected release this week of a senate report on cia interrogation methods. the report is believed to detail cia waterboarding and

sleep deprivation practices on al-qaeda prisoners in secret locations following 9/11. >> i think this is a terrible idea. our foreign partners are telling us this will cause violence and deaths. >> reporter: obama administration officials have supported making the report public. omar villafranca for "eyewitness news" on the cw philly. >> all right, good sunday night everyone, hope you're having a great weekend. temperatures of course tonight on the chilly side. we have clear skies and pretty strong winds dealing with wind chill values down to the 20's but actual air temperatures still in the low 30's and 20's showing up from our weather watchers but still the wind kind of the story outside right now. out in avondale gary checks in with the wind at 22 miles per hour coming out of the northeast and it's that northerly wind that's bringing in the cool at least dry air as we finish off the weekend. james in ocean city coming in at 20 miles per hour and those gusty winds will continue especially along the coast over the next couple days. douglas in vincent town new jersey has got a lighter wind coming in at 11 miles per hour

this hour. now, if you love weather you can join the eyewitness weather watchers and be featured on "eyewitness news." just check it out at cbsphilly.com/watchers for the details. and let's take you outside right now. center city looking at the ben franklin bridge and clear skies at the moment. it's just cold. so, dress warm. check out this is what it feels like outside right now when you factor in the wind. 25 here in philadelphia, 22 in allentown. feeling like 12 degrees this hour with the wind in mount pocono. dry on storm scan3. clear skies at the moment but clouds starting to move in from the west. here's storm feature number one we'll be dealing with the over the next 48 hours. there's another off shore. then we have high pressure over new england. all three systems combine to form this coastal storm. we get that system dropping in from the great lakes tomorrow. will it help feed the energy in the system off the coast. here comes that developing storm system later monday night into tuesday. it's going spread rain in here from south to north late

monday night. and through the day tuesday periods of rain heavy at times especially tuesday morning into the afternoon. windy conditions along the coast will lead to potential for tidal flooding. on the backside of the system we could see snow especially in the poconos coming in later tuesday night and maybe some leftover snow showers during the day wednesday as the storm takes it good old time to leave. let's talk about this coastal storm. we have high pressure that will keep us dry tomorrow situated over new england. notice these black lines, those are ice bars air pressure. the tighter the bars are the faster the winds are. winds can kick up out of the east along the coast during the day on monday and tuesday, so most of the area will see rain from this event but again it's interior northeast new england that sees substantial snows especially far northern pennsylvania into upstate new york, that's the best shot to see over 6-inches maybe up to a foot of snow. so, for the delaware valley on tuesday, rain, one to 3-inchs are possible with the highest amount as across eastern new jersey. winds could gust to 40 miles

per hour at the coast. this could lead to tied at a flooding around times of high tide tomorrow and tuesday. snow chances in the mountains. how much snow we talking about? for the poconos at this point this is one model, maybe 1 to 3 inches, two to four. higher amounts the farther north you go into the northern pennsylvania and upstate new york region. dry tomorrow with just some clouds on the increase. here comes that rain moving in late nun night after midnight or so and then periods of rain heavy during the day on tuesday. later tuesday night the steady rain starts to taper off. we could see snow especially in the mountains on the backside that system. how much rain were -- are we talking about? 1 to 3 inches. tomorrow chilly, partial sunshine with a high near 40 and here we go the extended forecast again we'll get that rain in here on tuesday. windy, 43 for the high temperature. still rain or snow showers possible wednesday and by the end of the week slowly drying out but warming up to near 50 by next weekend.
