it has been a long cold morning for dozens of fire fighters tasked with putting out the flames here in mount holly this morning. you can see some fire fighters are picking up their gear, moving out but dozens of fire fighters remain on the scene. on the other side you can see that ladder truck is dousing this vacant factory with water. i'm told there are a couple spots that still have stubborn flames. if you take a look at the video you can see how big and intense this fire was earlier this morning. those flames broke out here in the 200 block of holeman street just after 3:00 a.m. fire grew to three alarms and here we are five hours later now with the fire still is going and fire crew is still remain on the scene. this is a commercial building and the address 280 holeman is old location for arrow device safety company. according to the web site the company consolidated, and actually moved out of the state in 2008. neighbors say this building now sits vacant. good news at this point is that there are in reported injuries, but it is a vacant building. the it has been a cold morning for these fire fighters ice building on the road. they have had to be very careful, back out here live on the scene we can see them piling up, hose on top of the truck and beginning the process of moving out many again they will remain on the scene. this fire is still going on here in mount holy this morning. a big concern earlier this morning, from neighbors were about the embers and possibly a breeze out here picking them up and taking them on nearby homes that hasn't seem to be a concern as we get later in the morning. again, no reported injuries due to this fire.

reporting live from mount holly, jane carabao for "eyewitness news" at cw philly. more breaking news in lower merion a story you will see only on "eyewitness news". a patient steals a delivery van from lankenau medical center, and then rolls it down an embankment. you can see aramark van flipped upside down. this happened only about 200-yard from the hospital where it was stolen, police say that patient till had an iv in his arm and was wearing his hospital gown. he was seriously injured in that crash and had been air liftedded to a different hospital for treatment. new year begins with the fatal shooting in delaware county, it happened just before 1:00 in the 1400 block of cohain street in chester. victim's mother tells "eyewitness news" that her 22-year old son was shot while trying to break up a fight. >> whoever took my son's life you don't to have worry about me coming after you, you got the to worry about god, because god will have his revenge on you. >> no comment from chester police shooting remains around investigation. coming up at 8:03. lets get traffic -- actually we don't have traffic today. all right, right to wet are. >> that is just gravy, we get to offer up for you. we will see some traffic for folks trying to find their spot here for the mummers day parade. we figure we would give torey a day off on a day like this. the beautiful weather does go with this. take a look you don't get any betterment bright sunshine creating this gorgeous blue skies in atlantic city. we can expect to see this all day to day. problem is, some sun angle are

bundled in jackets and wrapped in scarves, folks out thousands braved cold last night for not one but two fire works show on penns landing. the bursts of color warmed up the night sky and from the looks of smiles out there, plenty of hearts as well. on people whipped out their cell fence to capture those awesome, all inspiring moments, indeed this he were awesome. others could not look away. >> i loved it. >> really. >> yes. >> what was your favorite part. >> the ending. >> it is just so exciting. it is so energizing. >> i'm ready to get rid of this year and start next year already. >> me too i'm looking forward to a great 2015 good well we wish everyone the best but what a wonderful will way to kick off a brand new year. >> check this out people of kenneth square chester county of a unique way of celebrating the holiday. they dropped a 500-pound mushroom at midnight. it is made of steel and measures 8 feet wide and 7.5 feet tall. the celebration was so popular last year we're told it decided to make an annual tradition. well, those new years eve celebrations continue to cross the river in south jersey communities across the area put their own twist, on ringing in the new year. capped will light vigil that was truck bine killed by a franklin township police cruiser. matthew mccloskey was crossing the street to the friend's home sunday night when a cruiser him hit. vigil is at franklin township sports complex. his funeral is scheduled for tomorrow. updating a story we first broke yesterday morning, two bridgeton, new jersey police officers are now on administrative leave after they shot and killed a man during a traffic stop. a neighbor shared this video with "eyewitness news" of the incident. police say that the suspect had a gun and recovered it at the scene on south avenue near henry street. we're told officer brahim days and roger worely fired their weapons. we are learning more about the deadly police involved shooting in drexel hill. police in upper darby say officers fired 22 shots at joe pa seen i hitting him three times. the confrontation follows allegation that is pacini became unrulely posted threats against police on you tube and tried to run over officers when they tried to arrest him on tuesday. pacini had been arrested back in 2005 and had a history of mental illness. it is now 8:19. young woman moves around the world to help orphans but she soon found herself in the battle to save her adopted son's life, we will have that when we come back. also ahead evidence of popular viral video is a hoax and as we go to break here's what is coming up tonight on the cw philly.

sunnies coming up on this first day of the brand new year january 1st, 2015. happy new year family so glad you are with us on the cw philly. speaking of new years day it marks the rose parade. >> cbs news correspondent danielle nottingham introduces us to a special guest who will overcome enormous odds. >> kerry penner and her 11 year-old son would never imagine their parade will be at new years day. in 2004 kerry was a 22-year old volunteer at an orphanage in romania addie the had stage four neuroblastoma, one of the most common pediatric cancers that impacts the nervous system. were you scared he would not survive. >> yes, medical care there is just not the same. there were a couple other kid diagnosed with neuroblastoma and they did not make it. >> reporter: he went into remission after chemotherapy but kerry, who because came a foster mom heard about a drug that made his cans are less aggressive. she flew addie to doctor clark anderson of city of home in california. >> with chemotherapy alone his survival was less than 20 percent. >> reporter: doctor anderson gave them a prescription to take back to romania and kerry

started the adoption process to bring addie back to the u.s. so he can continue his treatments at the hospital. addie has been cancer free for almost ten years and is dreaming of his future. >> i want to pitch for dodgers. >> and see the rose parade for the first time this year riding on the city of hope's float with other families fighting cancer. >> we were given very little will hope that he would survive and he is here today and so, here's hope when it seems hopeless. >> in semi valley california, danielle nottingham for "eyewitness news" on the cw philly. there is hope. >> doctors say that addie's chances of relapsing are close to zero. >> wonderful news. what a special experience to ride in the float that is a big deal to ride in the float in the rose parade. >> i cannot wait to see him hitch for the dodgers. >> there we go. >> get him here for philly. >> hey, that is true. >> we will take a short break anand we will be right back. see you in a bit. good morning, everyone happy new year i'm ukee washington. updating our breaking news a patient from lanning now medical center has been air lifted to another hospital, with serious injuries, after a frightening accident. hospital officials say that the man stole a delivery truck earlier this morning and then crashed it on the hospital ground in wynnewood. the truck then slid down a steep embankment and overturn. rescue teams had to free the patient and there is no word on why the man tried to steel that truck. lets get your new years

eve forecast with katie, happy new year. >> happy new year, everybody. this will be a beautiful start to the new year and we will keep this nice weather around at least through the rest of the week. but by the weekend this pattern business ready to shift. we have a gorgeous start to the day. we will look live from the rooftop camera on skies cam three we will throw current conditions at philly international right overtop of it. relatively low humidity. if it weren't for the wind we would have a awesome parade day. 30 degrees at philly international. storm scan three with that clear sky to see something like this. other than some very, very minor ground clutter showing up on radar sites that sky is clear and it will stay that way all take but it is still chilly. 39 degrees expect high. in the like we have never seen that before but you will need to bundle up, seasonal chill tonight under a couple clouds as we bottom out at 20 degrees. eyewitness weather seven day forecast maryland rates substantially. we will start to see cloud build by saturday morning toward the evening time frame on saturday rain moves in over the next large storm, primarily a rain producer since temperatures are flirting with 60's by sunday. and then nose dive comes on monday ukee back to you. lets meet at 8:55. up next on cbs this morning actor/director ben afflict. for more local news weather traffic and sports we are on the cw philly and you can always find us on these channels.

we have fire fighters gaining ground and battling a three alarm fire in burlington county. >> good morning, everyone. fire fighters got the call around 3:00 this morning. we are told it is an abandoned factory. "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabao joins us now from mount holly, jan? >> reporter: ukee and erika good morning. it has been a very long cold morning for dozens of fire fighters out here in mount holly and it got longer for one fire crew, they are actually just pulling out right new from lumberton. a wrecker had to pull them out after getting stuck in the mud. that is how long they have been out here this morning. we're going on five and a half hours this fire starting just after 3:00 this morning. you can see here that fire fighters have stopped working on the building, at this point the fire does appear to be out. all that is lefties a shell and smoke. you can see how big and intense this fire was early this morning. flames broke out at 3:00 this morning on the 200 block of holeman street. fire quickly grew to three alarms and here we are five and a half hours later and fire crews do remain on the scene but they are picking up their gear and beginning to move out. this is a commercial building and the the address 280 holeman is old location for aero device safety company but a correspondencing to the web site the company consolidated and moved out of state in 2008 and neighbors tell us that the building sits vacant. the good news is at the this point there are in reported injuries. bank out here live on the

chill. this is time of the year sun angle is low, so even, though that sunnies now up it is not going to have a hand in helping to warm these temperatures up. we will get more added on to these thermometer readings but not a lot. thirty-one is the the the current temperature at philly international. we are at 15 in mount pocono. notice our wind flow shifting southeasterly. so what that has done is allowed any cloud cover that we found around great lakes to sort of get spun away. that is why everybody can bank on full bright sunshine here to kay. but when you factor in that breeze, even out of the southwest, at this time of the year it will feel chillier. currently it feels like 10 degrees cooler in philadelphia at the airport. feeling like four in mount pocono. you get the idea. you have to bundle up for this. if you are heading out for say mummers parade you are standing in the shadow and between those sky scrapers watching parade go down it will feel colder to you because we don't that have bright sunlight and you have the breeze that can act a as a wind tunnel effect through those sky scrapers. take time high about 39 today. ukee, back to you. so far teams have recovered nine bodies following the tragedy of air asia flight 8501. but as tara marginner reports another round of rough weather continues to hamper recovery of victims and debris. >> reporter: wind and rain in the java sea are making search for victims and wreckage from 8501 very difficult. on new years day more bodies then coffin were flown to indonesia but so far only seven victims had been recovered. there were 162 people on game

the two hour indonesia to singapore flight. which disappeared from radar about halfway in the trip early on sunday. while bad weather is setting back search efforts investigators are pouring over pieces of wreckage that they have already recovered, including this evacuation slide from the airplane. investigators are closely looking at sonar images that have identified what appeared to be large parts of the plane. singapore's navy sent an unmanned under water vehicle to search the sea floor. on new years eve people who gathered in jakarta a to ring in the new year pause todd pray for those lost to flight 8501. it is still unclear what brought plane down. investigators are hoping once they fine the black becomes they will have some answers. in washington, tara marginner for "eyewitness news" on the cw philly. meanwhile china is investigating what caused a deadly stampede. the chaos in shanghai has killed 36 people and injured 47 others. it happened a half an hour before midnight at city's popular river front area which can be jammed with spectators for major events. it was more than a typical day on the job for a group of bricklayers in texas. the men were building a wall when all of a sudden a car crashed into a tree and then burst into flames. one worker brought over a sledge ham tore break car windows after the bricks they haddon hand didn't work. it still was not enough to free driver pinned by his air bag. >> then we had to look for a knife, we didn't i have knife on us, a jogger had the knife, we cut air bag and man was trying to come out backward.

i told them to turnaround because we could not get him by his seat. he turned around. we pulled him out. good nicely done, and after a all that brick layers just went back to work. job well done. well video goes viral on line and in the process raises more than $130,000. >> it is also raising business questions. as reporter stacy butler reports from los angeles she tells us it is now causing controversy. >> reporter: when he started you tube prankster parked in front of this anaheim liquor storm december 20th with this man in the back seat, he immediately texted his girl friend. >> i think they will do a prank. i don't know i will wait for the video. >> reporter: four days later the video appears on you tube. in it lynn offered thomas, the home less man, hundred dollars, and followed him to see if he would spend it on liquor. lynn tells audience thomas has no idea camera is on him as homeless man gives out food to others. >> i was there followed him, they drove him there. >> reporter: video went viral and so far people have donated more than 133 you this dollars to thomas. he a says lynn and passenger dropped thomas off at liquor store. he said he believes that thomas is homeless, but says the whole thing was staged. >> i think manner how they portrayed the video is deceitful and honest. >> reporter: he has since posted videos of the 56 year-old getting a make over, staying in the hotel and eating out. >> this isn't right. >> reporter: in a surprising twist, thomas's brother

reached out to us. he says his brother's real name is kenny nichol a mentally unstable alcoholic, who work odd jobs and lived with their parents until will they died last summer. he says that is when his brother was arrested for public intoxication and put in jail. we were unable to confirm that. >> he is sitting on right now, like a $150,000 in the estate. >> reporter: that is coming his way. >> that has been coming his way for last four months. >> reporter: kevin nichol says only connection is through a man who claims to be representing him. nichols ace same day video was released, man texted him and allegedly wrote your brother is famous. we'll going to make hundreds of thousands of dollars. >> this money will probably in the go to him but it is all a scam. he is sitting on a estate he chose this way of life, and this money need to to real people who have actually fallen down good what a story, that was stacy butler reporting. kevin is worried his brother is manipulated and hopes that he gets the help that he need. right now a story of kindness following a mix up, chester county boy wanted to learn how to hunt. so when nine year-old alex collins saw an invitation to go hunting on what he thought was the the chester county's police department facebook page, he jumped at the chance. al accounts hand deliver a letter saying his mom could not teach him because he was sick. it turns out that page belonged to chester county but south carolina. the chief from his both departments got together and realized the mix up and put alex on a plane to south carolina. after learning how to hunt
