"eyewitness news" at 12 and and market streets. among the customers affected tonight t-the lowes hotel. we're told the lowes does not have water and the power has been shut off for safety reasons. lowes officials say they're making their guests as. again, a water main break in philadelphia, 12 and and market streets. we'll have the latest on this breaking story on "eyewitness news" at 11:00 also online, cbsphilly.com. good evening everyone, i'm natasha brown. thank you so much for joining us. also tonight we're tracking some pretty heavy rain heading our way. it's shaping up to be a soggy sunday across the area and it could start with some freezing rain. let's get right over to meteorologist justin drabick. he'll tell us when this wet weather will begin. >> all is quiet through the overnight hours. we're looking at dry conditions for the next several hours but it's cold. check out can current numbers. mid and upper 20's, wilmington up to 30 degrees. temperatures have leveled off for the night. they'll can come up a couple degrees in the overnight. we're talking about rain event on the way for sunday. areas still with temperatures below freezing early tomorrow morning. there could be a brief period of freezing rain. this is what it feels like right now in when you factor in the wind. teens to low 20's even single digits up in mount pocono so dress warm if you're heading out through the overnight hours. here we go. clear skies over the region right now or at least patchy

clouds. that's what's allowing these temperatures to really drop down into the 20's tonight. no storm yet hasn't developed yet but it's going to be a fast developing storm through the overnight hours and starts to spread rain into our region tomorrow morning. so, let's break it down for you. rain arrives around day break from south to north. there could be that possible freezing rain briefly to the start across the far northwestern suburbs. amounts general from about three-quarters of an inch to an inch and a quarter. rain comes to an end late afternoon early evening. potential for poor drainage flooding. periods of rain philadelphia the shore and poconos temperatures in the 40's. around the delaware valley, higher temperatures in the mountains. track tomorrow's rain on cbsphilly. >> a young mother under arrest in a tragic case and we want to warn you the details of this story are extremely disturbing. prosecutors say the mother set her child on fire in the middle of a pemberton, new jersey road. "eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers is live outside the burlington county prosecutors' office tonight in mount holly with the latest. matt. >> reporter: natasha prosecutors near burlington county say 22-year-old hyphernkemberly dorvilie. it was after 11:00 p.m. friday that 22-year-old hyphernkemberly dorvilie set her infant daughter in the road and set her on fire. >> you see a site like that it puts life in perspective.

>> reporter: dave joseph saw the small fire ignite from his front window down the street. he raced to see what happened nearly unable to comprehend what he saw. >> we actually didn't think it was a baby. we just thought it was a fire, somebody dumping everything down there and -- but when we found out what it was, it was just -- it was a nightmare. >> reporter: joseph called 911 and says he restrained her who says tried to flee. police took her into custody at the scene as firefighters 32 toyed save her child. the infant was air lifted to saint christopher's hospital for children where she died a few hours later. >> there's nothing that can can go through your head, i don't care what the situation is for you to harm a baby. >> reporter: the 22-year-old lived on this quiet block with family members just over a mile from the crime scene. no one came to the door when we first approached but a short time later a family friend came out. he described the family as loving and says they have no idea what prompted the crime. the suspect's family just trying to understand the tragedy. >> they're doing the best they can under the circumstances. there's a lot of people praying for them. we're praying for them. my family is praying for them. >> reporter: meanwhile at the scene neighbors set out a small memorial for a child they never knew. and investigators tell us they're still trying to determine the exact age of the child. bail was set for the suspect in this case at $500,000. she remains in jail this evening. we're live outside of the prosecutors' office in burlington county, matt rivers, "eyewitness news" at 10:00 on the cw philly. >> all right matt, thank you so much. authorities meantime, they are investigating the cause of a serious house fire in

philadelphia's rhawnhurst neighborhood. the flames broke outer on the 7900 block of loretto avenue about 5 o'clock this morning. one person was injured and was treated at aria health torresdale hospital. and police now say a two-year-old boy was killed in a car that collided with a rail line train in riverside burlington county. this is iwitness cam video from the scene at new jersey and chester avenues yesterday. investigators say the child's grandfather was behind the wheel at the time and attempted to cross the tracks despite the signal. the grandfather and several riders on the train were injured. security remains extremely tight across western europe right now following last week's attack in paris and raids conducted this week in belgium. now in an historic move troops have been called up to help in belgium. reporter wendy gillette has more. >> reporter: heavily armed soldiers stood guard in several cities in belgium saturday protecting potential terrorist targets like the u.s. embassy and jewish neighborhoods. it's the first time in 30 years troops have been called up to reinforce police. >> 150 people deployed today and this will grow to the full companies which will be about 300 people. >> reporter: the extra precautions come two days after police carried out raids against a suspected islamist terror cell that was allegedly planning an attack on police in belgium. two suspects were killed and more than a dozen arrested. those in heavily muslim areas worry about a potential backlash. >> they will say, blame it on the muslims, blame it on the terrorists, blame that all the muslims are terroristsism it's also a tense time in paris

where 17 people were killed in terrorist attacks last week. police there canceled a protest against radical islamists on sunday a decision upheld by a french court. wendy gillette for "eyewitness news" on the cw philly new at 10 o'clock tonight a show of force of supporters as -- police officers that is, they rally in washington d.c. it was a sea of blue on the national mall. the rally began with a moment of silence at the national law enforcement memorial f there supporters marched to the capital where speakers took to the podium to talk about their experience with the police department. and despite a growing number of rape allegations comedian bill cosby took his comedy tour to denver tonight. about a dozen or so people showed up to protest outside of the show. but hundreds more of his fans, they pushed right past them to see the 77-year-old comedian perform. before the show, a denver woman who once had a modeling career joined attorney gloria all red and told her story of being drugged by cosby. >> young naive, you know, i was in my early 20's, you know, it was 1986. >> well, more than 15 women have accused cosby of drugging and sexually assaulting them. the undocumented immigrant who won her fight against deportation is leaving her sanctuary clump in north philadelphia. a big celebration was held in honor of angela navarro at west kensington ministry church today. she spent nearly two months there. earlier this week navarro was granted a stay of removal by the federal government allowing her to stay in the country with her husband and

children who are u.s. citizens. navarro doesn't speak english very well but says she is thrilled. >> feel like really, really happy because now i can do things that i can't do before, so, i don't know how to explain. i don't know i'm happy. >> navarro will soon be able to apply for a work permit and a green card. the philadelphia fire department meantime is making history. commissioner derek sawyer store in the first fire service emergency medical technician cadet class today. they graduated at the fire training academy. the 46 cadets will go on to serve in medic units all throughout the city. congratulations. a man drives into a car wash, he comes out with a clean car, also an extra passenger in the trunk. we're going to share that very strange story for you right after the break. plus, a rare look at jackie o's fashion sense. letters she wrote to some of her favorite designs sold to the highest bidders. and this police dash cam video has just made this delaware police officer a viral hit. we'll tell you what he's jamming to coming up. justin. >> all right. we had a dry start to the weekend. now get ready for a soggy sunday. i'm tracking rain for the second half of the weekend. i'll have the details. >> and could penn pull off an upset against villanova at the palestra. lesley van arsdale has highlights in sports. ring ring!...

(record scratch) you say stand n' stuff tortillas old el paso says... start somewhere fresh >> police in florida say two people are dead one injured after a shooting in mel burn square mall in mel burn. investigators believe one of the two who died was the shooterly the surviving victim is believed to be the gunman's wife. the mall was evacuated and police say no other threats were located after a very thorough search. also a bizarre story here out of southern california. a driver goes in for a car wash and ends up with a guy in his trunk. chris lan department rose had taken his car through the car wash on thursday evening. on the ride home he started hearing knocking coming from the trunk of his car. he got out of the car then knocked back and that's when he heard a man's voice coming from the inside of his trunk. >> kind of heard a little voice in there and i wasn't sure what it was. so, i opened it real quick and i saw a guy in there. i just closed it real quick. >> that's scary. the man called police. the cell phone video shows officers with guns drawn. they popped open the trunk and

a man comes out. he told police he snuck into the trunk because he was trying to run away from someone. no charges were filed. and a very important history lesson on this martin luther king weekend. free screenings of "selma." the screenings were held today at the pearl theater on north avenue in philadelphia. they are for philadelphia youth ages 13 to 21. mayor michael nutter says he wants as many young people as possible to watch "selma" to understand what it was like during the civil rights movement. >> a standing ovation and so it's so important and i'm so glad that this movie was here so that at least our young people could see what happened. >> it teaches us a lot about why it's important to vote and why we should stick together. >> well, the screenings were funded by citizens bank park. and letters written by jacqueline kennedy onassis have sold at a florida auction. the handwritten notes were sent to some of her favorite designers. she wrote them from the mid 1980's until her death in 1994. some of the letters included sketches of items that she wanted made. the auction also included photographs of the former first lady. >> check this outer. taking the plunge. the annual polar bear plunge took place today in the wildwoods. we're talking an ice cold ocean with temperatures in the upper 30's. each plunger had to raise at least $100 for the special olympics new jersey. so, it was definitely a worthy cause. wow. great job, everyone. at least they had the sunshine out but temperatures today struggled to get into the 30's, low 30's at best and we're talking about upper

30-degree ocean water temperature, that's pretty brave out there. it's cold outside right now. we're in the 20's in many spots. skies mainly clear to partly cloudy at the moment but that's going to quickly change overnight. so, let's check out some of these temperatures one of the warmest spots this hour is ocean city. james checks in at 35 degrees. just go a little inland, even palermo new jersey greg wood has 29 degrees and up in lawrenceville 28. middletown delaware also below freezing. i mean, look after all these numbers. we're in the 20's in northern delaware in glasgow newark, riverside, new jersey mid-20's this hour reported by ron russell. so this could be a bit of a problem early tomorrow morning as our storm system approaches the region. no problems outside right now. just cold overnight as we check out the ben franklin bridge here in center city, patchy clouds over us right now. we're trying to get a bit of a warmup in our forecast compared to the past few days. our average high this time of year is 40 degrees. so climatologyologically speaking this is the coldest time of the year. wednesday we were at 32, 36 thursday. yesterday a high of 40 but then we took another hit today, only made it to 33 degrees. tomorrow we should be in the mid 40's. however though that's going to come with rain. here it is. that cold air kind of stuck over us right now mid and upper 20's, wilmington delaware also now at 30 degrees. but look at the warmth just to the south and west. 44 pittsburgh, 35 in washington. so, these temperatures are actually going to slowly climb through the overnight hours as the storm approaches. you're thinking, hey what's he talking about what storm? yeah nothing's happening right now on storm scan3.

there's a stronger cold front to our west but we're going to see a storm develop over the carolinas. you can see the clouds but no rain right now. this energy is going to drop down and help form the storm as it tracks northward tomorrow morning so by day break some of that rain should be getting in here from south to north and again initially some spots we're still below freezing could see a brief period of freezing rain but really don't expect any ice accumulation. it will quickly turn over to all rain. periods of rain through your sunday, highs in the 40's. we'll get the front through here. we cool it back down for monday near 40 but at least it will be sunny but windy. clipper system comes through tuesday night into wednesday maybe bringing a rain or snow shower. 8:00 a.m. tomorrow morning the rain starts to spread from south to forecast. a little few areas of pink you can see trying to show up. that indicates a potential for a little bit of freezing rain, very light though. but then it goes to all rain. some of that rain will be steady at least through the first half of the afternoon but by 5 o'clock or so most of the rain is done. there could be a few leftover showers that come to an ends during the early evening hours. back to sunshine on monday. tuesday some clouds start to move in ahead of that next clipper system which could bring a few rain or snow showers early wednesday morning. how much rain? highest amounts just east of the city across new jersey and delaware. could get over an inch, maybe an inch and a quarter before that storm moves out of here but overnight partly cloudy, it's cold. low temperature again around 30 degrees. it will slowly climb a few degrees through the overnight hours. milder day on sunday, periods of rain, 44 degrees for the high temperature. check out monday's forecast.

martin luther king day mostly sunny, cold, windy high temperature of 42 degrees. and here we go the extended forecast sunshine is back for sunday, more clouds move in tuesday with a high near 40. remember, that's about average for this time of year. rain or snow shower possible on wednesday early in the day. and then little bit chilly for the second half of the week, thursday and friday we'll keep it dry some clouds with highs in the upper 30's. so it's cold but nothing terribly cold and we got rain to deal with tomorrow. >> we'll keep the poncho handy. >> that's right. >> kind of dig out my rain boots. thank you justin. a dover police officer proves he's a taylor swift fan in dash cam video that's gone viral now. >> ♪ [laughter] >> ♪ >> he is jamming. that's master corporal jeff davis lip syncing to shake it off. though put this on their facebook page saying we hope you're enjoying this and taylor swift we're sorry. he says he knows the song so well because of his 10-year-old daughter. that is so cute. look, he knows every word, too. >> it is a good song. >> it does get into your head, though. i'll be singing it all night. it's all over. i'm singing it the rest of the night. what's going on in sports. >> lots going on. sixers and flyers both on the roads plus college hoops including villanova playing the last nonconference game. the team looking to wrap up another perfect big five title against penn. could they do it? sports is next

>> and the sixers on the road playing their fourth game in five nights against the pistons coming off their most impressive win of the season. could they keep it going? first quarter west the sixers with the turnover pistons running the board. row gets the nice pass and finishes with the lay up. pistons up by 12. third quarter ugly sequence sixers think they have the steal monroe picks it up and yes he's going to score with four sixers around him. he finished with 12 points, 13 rebounds. later we have anthony tolliver and he will drill the three for the pistons. sixers lose 107 to 89. villanova taking on penn at the palestra. it's been more than two years since the wildcats last played there. this will be villanova's last nonconference game the team looking to wrap up another perfect big five title and penn giving villanova all it could very early on. steal by woods. feeds hicks for the basket. the wildcats turning it on late in the second half. nice pass down low forced the dunk. nova big winner tonight 62 to 47. temple visiting cincinnati. owls once again fell apart in the second half. ellis with the nice dunk there off the pass down low for the bear cats. later in the second half we have jermaine sanders who nails the three to open up a 29-point lead. temple rough night for them. they lose 84-53. fordham visiting lasalle. solid game out of jordan price getting the bucket here. he would lead lasalle with 15 points. then we have price down low, gets it to jarrel wright, backing up, scores. lasalle wins 60 to 49. they pick up their tenth win

of the season. drexel visiting delaware at the carpenter center. delaware led for a big chink of the game. london the big 3-pointer right there, that will make a nine-point lead. delaware made a late charge. corey holden with this drive that will bring it within two but that's as close as they'll get. drexel wins 66 to 62. the flyers are the road in buffalo. both of these teams coming off shutout losses so you figure someone's going to score. right? well, flyers captain claude giroux got cut earlier on his ankle. looked like he was having problems but he did tough out the game. flyers down one-nothing in the second. finally they break that goalless streak. umberger deflects the shot. this time market street with the shot for the point. great crane in front by wayne simmonds. two-one flyers. great game in net by zepp. great save with a lot of traffic. he made 24 saves on 27 shots. flyers win four to tree. buffalo has now lost 10 in a row. good night for avalanche goalie berra. sent down to lake eerie. last night looked a lot like ron hextall. scoring a goal in the open net and celebrates with high 5's from his teammates ♪ ♪all day and all of the night - the kinks♪ ♪all day and all of the night - the kinks♪ yoplait. with a smooth and creamy taste your whole family loves. it is so good all the time.
