at this year's tony awards. good monday morning, everyone. we begin with new details on that deadly shooting in a busy las vegas shopping area. >> an armed man and woman shouting about a revolution opened fire killing two police officers on a lunch break. >> another victim was shot to death inside a walmart before the suspects died in a murder/suicide pact. tahman bradley has more. >> reporter: authorities say it was an ambush. two police officers were eating lump at a pizzeria inside this shopping center when a man and woman walked in and opened fire. >> what precipitated this event, we do not know. my officers were suchly having lunch. >> reporter: one of the officers shot back but both cops, alan beck and 32-year-old eager soldo were killed. >> the suspects took the officer's weapons and some

ammunition from them on the way out the door and made a statement, something to the effect of this is a revolution. >> reporter: witnesses say the male shooter repeated those words and then the man and woman fled across the street to a walmart. >> i saw their gun in their hand and he just told me to tell the cops that it was a revolution. >> reporter: inside the walmart, a third person is shot and killed. police rush to the scene. officers enter the store from the front and discover the body, some officers enter from the back encountering the suspects and exchanged gunfire then according to police, the man and woman carry out a suicide pact. >> a short time later more shots were heard. preliminary, appears, the female suspect shot the male suspect then took her own life. >> reporter: overnight police searched an apartment that could belong to one or both of the suspects. police still don't have a motive.

tahman bradley, abc news, washington. this morning's las vegas review-journal says the shooters were a married young couple this their late 20s. police are looking into their ties to white supremacy. a live update on "good morning america" from las vegas. our other big story breaking overnight, police in pakistan have finally regained control of the nation's busiest airport after a terror attack. >> more than two dozen people killed during the five-hour battle between the attackers and security forces. abc's muhammad lila has the latest. >> reporter: it happened just before midnight here. ten militants all disguised as police guards stormed the international airport armed with machine gun, grenades and at least one rocket launcher. the siege lasted five hours. the sky lit orange as a fire raged inside. [ sirens ] >> reporter: at least 13 people were killed.

many of them security guards who were protects the airport. pakistan has a history of militant attacks but none have ever come so close to reaching active planes athe a major commercial airport. all air traffic to and from the airport was closed while the attack was under way. some passengers even stranded on airplanes on the tarmac waiting to take off. the taliban are claiming responsibility for the attack saying it's revenge for u.s. air strike that killed one of their leaders in november. muhammad lila, abc news, islamabad. well, bergdahl revealing new information about his captivity as he recovers at a u.s. military hospital in germany. bergdahl is telling investigators he was tore tored by his captors, beaten and held in a cage after he tried to escape. he asked not to be called sergeant saying he didn't earn the rank and not prepared to see his family, the 28-year-old has

teacher who appeared to be drunk asked the teens for a ride. once the teacher got up side the car they say he pulled a knife and ordered the kids to take him to jack in the box. one of the teens managed to call 911 and the teacher got out of the car and ran away. he later turned himself in. >> all right. an international manhunt for three men who staged a dramatic escape from a prison in quebec. the inmates left aboard a helicopter. the men said to be connected with the hell's angels are considered dangerous. it is the second helicopter aided inmate escape in canada's province there in two years. california chrome is back in the golden state this morning nursing an injury he picked up in saturday's belmont stakes. the triple crown hopeful suffered a cut on his leg coming out of the starting gate when he bumped another horse. he wound up tied for fourth ending dreams of being the first triple crown winner in 36 years.
