along a little bit later. a man is rescued following a dump truck crash on a busy new jersey highway and a family forced out of their home by fire this morning. but the big story this noon is the calm before the next round of heavy rain. sky 6 hd looking live at a cloudy scene this noon, we had showers and storms this morning and there is more wet weather coming before this week is over. lets good straight to the big board and meteorologist, david murphy. >> on the big board, stormtracker 6 live double scan, there is a frontal boundary pushed to the south of the flow in off the ocean. we have thunderstorms west of the city earlier this morning. as expected they largely fell apart as they headed east and the only thing we have left is a light shower that is down in cape may county and extending in a line close to philadelphia on the new jersey side of the river

and all of this is light rain and in the process of falling apart. there may be something coming at us from the west but it looks few and far between and not that heavy, you can see what happens when the cool, stable air is in place. it's chugging through washington and boof falls apart. can you see how thick it is. sunshine to the south but not so here. that helps to suppress temperatures here, and numbers are in the mid-60s, 65 in philadelphia, and notice how it's milder in places like lancaster and wilmington and over 70 in dover. this is where the sun is doing its job. most of us will wind up in the low 70s for a high later on. and the issue is to the west of us on stormtracker 6 live double scan, and we have the front to the south ain cold front to the

boyfriend include recklessly endangering another person and endangering the welfare of a child and their names are not yet released. meanwhile at the school school counselors are on hand and they are stunned by what happened there yesterday and relieve that nobody was physically harmed. >> police say that a first grader at john barry elementary in west philadelphia, brought 11 packets of heroin to school yesterday prompting 20 students to be taken to the hospital as a precaution, overnight the mother and the mother's boyfriend were charged. >> i think they need to be locked up. >> it sends chills up my body, their bodies are not built like adults. >> she did not comment and later undercover officers searched the home in park side.

teachers saw a child chewing on one of packets in the classroom. its unclear if she ingested any and all students from the classroom were take and to the hospital and they were all cleared. some parents have had enough. >> i know my child won't be going here next year, i can't take this. >> these children are babies, they don't know drugs, not a first grader any way. she probably thought it was some kind of candy. >> a school district spokesperson says the school followed all the proper protocols yesterday, as for the woman being charged they remain in the department of human services, katherine scott, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. a busy atlantic highway is reopening hours after a crash involving two dump trucks, the head-on collision shut down route 50 in both directions in south county boulevard in hamilton township. the dump trucks both owned by

the same company are traveling to and from the construction project when they crashed. one driver was rescued from the wreckage, he and the other driver was taken to the hospitals for treatment. the wal-mart truck driver charged in the crash that hurt tracy morgan is expected to court this afternoon. a complaint alleges that kevin roper did not sleep for 24 hours before his tractor trailer slammed into morgan's limo bus, it left the comedian with several broken bones and killed one of his comedy writers. he was in critical condition yesterday, rober is expected in new jersey superior court this afternoon to face death by auto charges. a fire left a north philadelphia family homeless this morning, on the 1700 block of north 23rd street, one person was taken to the hospital with

serious burns, the family of three was forced out of their hom, the red cross is helping them with shelter and any other needs. friends and voters have elected a new mayor, eric jackson defeated paul perez by a margin of 55% to 44% last night. the 55-year-old jackson is the public works director in plainfield. the first elected mayor since former mayor, tony mack, was ousted from office after being convicted of corruption charges. the republican party is still in shock today after the virginia primary defeat of house majority leader eric canter. eric bratt, a political newcomer beat him with support. he ran hard with immigration reform and did not talk about any specific policies.

shore line of lake whitney, soil and debris is falling from the foundation after the cliff started collapsing beneath it, the owners were evacuated two weeks ago. the student killed by a teen gunman in oregon is now identified. police say that 14-year-old amilio hoffman was shot yesterday in the boys locker room in reynolds high school. the shooter was also shot by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. a teacher was hurt but is okay. police say he initiated the school lockdown procedure. a superior court judge in los angeles rule that teacher tenure violates student rights, that could fuel debates in other states including pennsylvania. the judge agreed with nine students who sued to overturn

auto maker says it needs to fix more than 2.2 million vehicles because of an issue with the front airbag inflaters. it includes 20 models including corolla compacts and tundra pickups from 2003 and 2004. the restaurant chain, pf chang s is investigating a data breach, credit card numbers went up for sale in an underground market place. many cards in the stolen batch are used at pf changs locations in march and may of this year. health check this noon, a reason for women to watch their intake of red meat. a new study out of harvard found that women that ate a lot of steak and hamburgers had a slightly higher risk of breast cancer. they tracked 88,000 women for 12

can keep up with them all this week using the #~ 6 abc on gma. david murphy here with the accuweather forecast, the beat goes on as you would say. >> we have a lingering shower in cape may county, and lets go ahead and start with stormtracker 6 live double scan, a lot of this is getting off the coast of cape may, i'll give you that up close and personal view, it's going bye bye over in sea isle city, there is drizzle left over in spots where you don't see the green, on the a.c. expressway in hammonton, the rain is slowing you down just a bit. the action cam was out earlier, this is down at the shore in atlantic city. are you looking at a lot of cloud cover in the region and through the morning hour and most areas it's tough to dislodge so far. as a result the temperatures are rather cool, just 65 degrees in

philadelphia, dew point still showing slightly humid air and the wind is off the east-northeast at 11 miles per hour. it's part of the reason why we have the cloud cover, it's milder where there is cloud cover. generally speaking a bit on the cool side and breezy, one twitter follower says it's refreshing and i kind of agree with that, whether or not we get a lot of rain today is definitely in question. future tracker 6 it doesn't look like there say whole lot and there could be thinning of the clouds and that raises the numbers into the low 70s, in the evening hours the clouds want to fill in a little more. notice in the see consequence i showed you, the storms try to form and unstable air to the west of us, they have a tendency to fall apart and we allow for a sprinkle or shower and an odd rumble of thunder, 70 degrees

and lots of clouds, allow for a spotty shower in allentown, and at the shore, a bit on the cool side and 65 in the water off atlantic city right now and on the beach 70 and that means 60s most of the time and lots of clouds with the potential of sunny breaks throughout the day and through the evening, 72 degrees and a spotty shower in philadelphia, if we don't manage to thin out the clouds a bit this afternoon. we may drop below this and the clouds really break for an hour or so. we could go above. i think low 70s is a pretty good bet. 66 and we'll allow for a spotty storm or shower, most of are you probably dry tonight. for the evening commute, same story and most neighborhoods are mainly dry and 72 by 4:00 and 71 by 5:30 and slipping into the upper 60s by about 7:00 and that is what you can expect down at
