satellite and radar shows clouds containing the fog and drizzle, later on today, especially during the afternoon we'll be on the look out for heavier hitters. 63 degrees fairly comfortable as you step outside. by 9:00 a.m., 69 and then we go up you to 77 by noon. it will be be warm and humid this afternoon. high of 79 at 3:00 p.m. before we ease back to 76 by 6:00 p.m. during the afternoon showers and thunderstorms. now, future tracker 6 has a hold of where they are likely to hit, i'll show you that in the couple of minutes. >> karen, what about the roads this morning. you can see the fog on i-95. it's not causing a problem, more people are heading on the roads it looking busier on i-95 southbound we're not seeing a delay it's not that bad just yet. northbound we're heading toward the construction zone.

penndot is doing the prepping and hadn't made any changes. let's look at the big picture, speeds mostly in the 50s. we're seeing slowing on the vine westbound as you head toward the schuylkill expressway. phils play at 1:05. take the sports express change they start at 11al 8:to easily that congestion. speeds 603 miles per hour on the schuylkill expressway. >> crew his were called to the -- crews were called to the toll house tavern on chester pike in norwood. the damage was so bad that demolition crews started tearing down what's left of the building a short time ago. >> new on "action news," police are searching for the criminal behind a vicious attack at a philadelphia deli. he beat the clerk and the

robbery was caught on surveillance. katherine scott has the video and the story. >> reporter: that's right, matt, investigators are hoping that someone recognizes the man you're about to see in the video. he knocked out the clerk and he is armed with a gun and police think he is dangerous. we're at m and m did he meanly in roxborough. a mantua hood pulled up over as baseball cap went into the deli. he was armed with a small, black handgun. he goes behind the counter and points the gun at the employee and starts going through his pockets he grabs money from the register and he stuffs cigarettes into a white plastic bag with a red-star logo. the employee pushes a silent alarm and that's when the suspect hit him in the head repeatedly. he knocked him out and left him

lying on the ground. if you know the man, call 911 or northwest detectives. do not approach him because he is considered dangerous. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> happening today, sentencing is scheduled for two former philadelphia police officers found guilty of stealing utilities. a jury convicted them last month from stealing utilities from the peco and the water departments for properties they own on girard avenue. >> unions representing 430 engineers and electrical workers are set to walk off the job a minute past midnight friday night into saturday morning. then working without a contract for four years. the union representing city workers is not planning to strike meaning bus, trolley and subway in the city would run this weekend. >> it is 6:04, but air bags are

could produce heavy drenching downpours, this is why we have a flash-flood watch in effect starting at noon and going into late tonight. over by the shore you have a less of a chance seeing this. it will be in the central region and shifting west of i-95 in most cases. up until 7:00 p.m. there's some of this popping through. later tonight, 10, 11:00 it's dieing down. in the lehigh valley, 74 degrees and on the humid side in the lehigh valley. at the shore it's mostly cloudy, there's a chance of spotty shower later today and the best chance of a heavy downpour will be along the southern coast. 72 degrees by 3:00 p.m. on the beach today. in philadelphia, 79 mostly cloudy, spotty drenchers out there. wind out of the east at 7 miles per hour. we'll be in the 70s today upper 70s through 2:00 to

scan radar is tracking another system expected to move into the region. >> good morning, everyone, 6:30 let's talk about the weather and the roads with karen and david. >> reporter: once again this morning i have mist on the terrace. there's a lot of fog and low-lying cloud cover around the immediate region. we have another issue. the flash flood is kicking in. i meant goes until late tonight that's because along with the cloudy start we are looking for the potential downpours and drenching showers and thunderstorms. these will be coming out of the maryland. the counties that are highlighted is where we'll see the potential for heavy downpours and related flash flooding. as we look to the south there's a little shower beginning to pop up in virginia south of washington that will miss us to the west it's that sort of thing we'll be watching as we get into the afternoon. 64 degrees fairly comfortable in philadelphia it is gray and damp with the mist from the low-lying cloud cover. as we roll through the day it's

1th an terminal avenue in delaware. we'll see extra heavy delays on i-95. it's a good alternate. you might want to take route 13 in wilmington hop into new jersey because the delays are taking longer to build over there. 295 looking good this morning. no accidents on the roads tam and matt. >> police are trying to run down a robber this morning who brutally beat a clerk as he robbed the convenience store. katherine scott is live outside that store on markle street with the video police want you to see. >> reporter: good morning, tam, this was a violent robbery that was caught on video. now police are looking for tips to track the man responsible. this happened on markle by mitchell in roxborough at m and m market. a man with his hood pulled up over his baseball cap went into the deli around 2:00 p.m. on tuesday. he was armed with a small, black

handgun. you can see from the video he goes behind the counter and points the gun at the employee and starts rifling through his pockets. he takes money from the register and grabbing cigarettes and putting them into a white plastic bag with a red star logo, possibly a macy's bag. while he is doing that the employee pushes a silent holdup alarm. he punches the employee in the head and knocks the clerk unconscious and the employee slumps to the floor. the robber ran off with $1,500 in cash and merchandise and. police believe he is 6'2" with light facial hair. if you see him, call the police because he is dangerous. to get a look at the video it's on 6abc.com. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> we're here at the big board

with a tragedy in bergs county that is -- berks county that is gaining national attention. a mother who was thrown in jail because her children were skipping school too much died behind bars over the weekend. >> i can't understand how someone goes to jail, they did not murder someone they didn't steal they didn't commit a felony. >> 55-year-old eileen dinino died one day into her 48 hour sentence. in pennsylvania a parent can fails one day in jail for every five days their child skips school. >> there's got to be a better way of dealing with truancy than putting someone in prison. >> reporter: investigators are waiting for autopsy results before releasing the cause of death. they did not suspect foul play. she racked up fines for 55

violations committed by her children. new castle county police believe a gunman killed himself after shooting a mother and son in their newark apartment. police believe brunson broke into the ham home and it's unclear why he shot them. the 49-year-old woman and her 9-year-old son in stable condition. mayor nutter plans to send a bill to city council that would allow the school district to borrow money. students walked in protest as the superintendent took the request to harrisburg. city council rejected the request for $55 million loan instead authorizing half. >> they decided to give us

getting out and getting into philadelphia. we have couple of issues. first of all there's chance of spotty drenchers and flash-flood watch going from this afternoon into later tonight. we'll cover above both of those topics. we have low lying clouds which we showed you on sky 6. 64 degrees, dewpoint, 61. winds out of the east at 6 miles per hour. up until noon nothing going on maybe spotty showers 0 here or there. but as we get into afternoon, we have heavy downpours and showers developing. most of this will be west of i-95. not so much an issue down the shore, but everybody in and around philadelphia and the northern and western suburbs has to watch out for this. between noon and later on today

eastbound traffic is jammed 340 to 113. no nairnlg problems on the -- major problems on the 30 bypass. but the fog may slow you down a tad. this is the blue route near baltimore pike that's your southbound traffic heavy from the media bypass to baltimore pike. northbound is slowing, but southbound is slowing more. we can check the visibility reports in the area. one mile at philadelphia international. we're down .8 in wilmington. .5 in lancaster. .8 in trenton. just .3 along the coastline in atlantic city and wildwood and mountain pocono, as well. you're dealing with the fog here and there through the region. let's check right now some of the other area roads. we have a problem with down wires i was on the phone with police in mercer county. hamilton township they have downed wires at bear tavern road at church road in hopewell
