between two unions failed to reach a deal. wendy saltzman joins us live from 30th street station a normally busy hub for septa. >> reporter: the labor negotiations broke down overnight eva, as of 12:01, the septa railroad engineers and the electrical workers went on strike. it's been a long dispute. 13 different regional rail lines have been shut down. when the work he weres went on strike they parked the trains and affecting 60,000 passengers, services on septa trolleys and subways are still running. those services take 85% of the septa riders. here's the next step governor corbett is about to ask president obama to step in to order a presidential board to mediate that would get worker to

return to their jobs for 240 days. the standstill has been part of a long-standing dispute over wages. the union push to have both sides meet in binding arbitration. septa declined they thought they could get a better deal through negotiation. septa had a previously-agreed upon wageses, but the union turned that down. we have no idea how long this strike is going to last and exactly what that's going to mean for the long term future. doesn't look like the negotiations will start up soon. looks like the passengers will be crowding other modes of transportation. there are concerns how it will affect the commute. we'll keep you posted, as soon as we have more and waiting to see if governor corbett will step in or ask for a presidential mediation that

>> quick downpours caused flash flooding in york county. this road water street seemed appropriate yesterday.y. drivers were forced to find a detour around it. the flooding did start to recede after a few hours of the sun coming back out. thankful all that rain has moved off to the side and sunshine is heading our way. meteorologist chris sowers is here with us now. i'm kind of over the rain. >> reporter: it got a little nasty out there, we had a few thunderstorm warnings, flash flood warnings. >> right as everybody was getting off work. >> reporter: timing was lousy. >> reporter: we get outside and look at cape may. that's a nice view. we're hanging on to cloud cover down the shore and interior sections of south jersey, you get west of the city. it's going to be a gorgeous day

we're expecting lots of sunshine and pleasant humidity level so a nice change in the humidity department. 69 degrees is the number in philadelphia. dewpoint, 59. this has come way down over the past several days we've had dewpoints close to 70. some locations were higher than 70. that's a nice refreshing change. winds out of the north at 8 miles per hour. 67 in wilmington, allentown, 63. millville, 68 a pair of 6s for trenton. dew points the way you measure the amount of moisture in the air you get over 60 it becomes humid. 65 to 70 you notice humidity. anything above 70 it starts to feel like new orleans. we're seeing the 50s out of the northwest. it's still a little humid for south jersey, in time that will break as well. we see the comfortable numbers return. dewpoint temperatures later on today we'll be honoring out in the upper 40s, low 50s it will

make for a nice, pleasant start to the weekend. we had a couple of lines of showers and thunderstorms pull through yesterday with the passage of the cold front cutting through south jersey, you can see the clearing to the west and hanging on to cloud cover to the east. there's scattered clouds out near pittsburgh and buffalo, but we'll see sunshine. future tracker 6 not seeing too much of anything. shades of blue nice temperatures a nice day. jet stream dips a little bit and bring the cool canadian high pressure system from canada. that makes things pleasant for the weekend. the jet stream lifts to the north and we see the humidity return we could make a run at 90 degrees couple of times next week. the poconos, 68 degrees, a gorgeous afternoon or sunday, 76. the jersey shore, a perfect beach day, lots of sunshine out
