it promises to be a gorgeous day, actually a beautiful weekend. just like last weekend we'll see sunshine both days and comfortable humidity levels. the jersey shore we're holding on to a humidity, the cold front hasn't cleared the coast just yet. we'll be doing better down here today than yesterday with all the fog. 69 degrees if ship bottom. beach haven the same. atlantic city airport, 67. muggy. ocean city, sea isle 69. winds out of the northwest at 15 miles per hour. the chop is rough waves at 3 to 4 feet. ocean temperatures getting up there, off the coast of cape may, 71, air temperature 69. the storms have swept through yesterday evening and worked out to sea. we're clearing to the west we have a little cloud cover on the coast, even the coastline will

clear out, it will be a nice day. weekend kickoff, 79 degrees mostly sunny skies for the jersey shore, morning clouds and afternoon sun, high of 79. get a load of poconos, low humidity lerchls and high of 6 -- levels and high of 68 degrees. >> the big story this morning is developing news hundreds of septa regional rail workers went on strike this after talks between septa and two unions failed to reach a new contract deal. "action news" reporter, wendy saltzman joins us live at the 30th street station with more on the work stoppage. wendy. >> reporter: eva, trains have been parked and workers walked out as the negotiations broke down. septa railway workers and electrical workers have gone on strike. here's what that means.

13 regional rail lines have broken down. that will affect 60,000 passengers. the trains go to newark, the airport and trenton. the el if the broad street line are still running. they service # 5% of septa riders. the next step is governor corbett is expected to ask president obama to a point a presidential emergency board to mediate. that would force workers to return to their jobs for 240 days. the standstill has been part of a long-standing dispute over wages. >> i want to thank the national mediation board and the governor's office for their efforts to try to to avert this work stoppage. unfortunately we have been notified by the blet and the ibw as of 12:01 a.m. their workers will walk off the job. >> i'm not as worried as what they will say or how it will affect them.

we have friends and family that live in the community. we are from this community, we did not want this to result in a stoppage of work. which is why we repeatedly offered to settle the dispute in a binding manner in a process that has been offered to us. now the union has pushed to have both sides meet in binding arbitration as you just heard, septa has turned that down, they think they can get a better deal in negotiations. it's interesting to note that the labor union was contacted by governor corbett's office if they didn't put an end to the stop work order there would be reprecussions. we'll wait and see if governor corbett is going to ask for the presidential mediator to step in in order to get the trains running again. live at the 30th street station, wendy saltzman channel 6 "action news." >> keep up with the latest on the septa situation with the

13% of the claims. agencies from five counties helped hand out 47 warrants in bucks county yesterday. the action cam was in doylestown as the suspects were hauled in for operation friday 13th. deputies were armed with 90 warrants for many for back child support, they found 36 another 11 turned themselves in. deputies from montgomery, philadelphia and delaware and chester counties assisted in making the articles. the suspects arrested owed close to $250,000 in back child support. the crew of the private jet that crashed and killed businessman lewis katz and 6 others did not perform a flight control check before takeoff. the ntsb released it's preliminary findings yesterday. they are focusing on the mechanical lock system. the tail flaps were locked when they examined the wreckage, but

on strike overnight more than a dozen train lines that carry commuters to philadelphia and philadelphia international no longer running after talks between septa and two unions failed to reach a new deal. wendy saltzman joins us live from 30th street station a normally busy hub for septa. wendy. >> reporter: well, eva, about 400 workers have walked off the job forcing 13 regional rail lines to be shut down. now, those labor negotiations broke down at 12:01 overnight. at that point the septa railroad engineers and electrical workers went on strike. here's what that means, the 13 regional lines have been shut down indefinitely. the lines run to places like newark, the airport and to trenton. however, bus services on septa buses trolleys and subways like the broad street line and the el those are still running. those service about 85% of septa

riders. septa is pushing riders to use alternative forms of transportation in the meantime. they have posted an interruption plan online. union reps have pushed for binding arbitration, but septa declined saying they can get a better deal in negotiations. >> we're open to discussions. if septa is willing to make substantive movement, we'll discuss options. >> we felt that one issue that was a sticking point was something we could stin to discuss, we did ask for a two week and he thinks with or without the pay raises that we had offered to the employees, those offers were denied. >> reporter: now, the next step is governor corbett is expecting to ask president obama to step in to force both sides into

federal mediation that could happen as early as today that would force the workers back on the job for 240 days. septa said that will push back how long this will go on. in another 240 days there will be strikes again. the labor unions say they are contacted by governor corbett's office and told if they didn't stop the strike there would be reprecussions, so at this point there's no idea how long it will last. the labor union saying they are willing to come to the table. septa saying the offer they are asking for is unacceptable. septa has contracts in place with 7,000 of their union workers. it's just these more than 400 workers that are holding out and that's causing the interruption in the regional rail lionels. at the 30th street station i'm wednesday wednesday channel 6 "action news." >> keep up with the latest on the septa situation with the 6abc news app. there we'll have the latest
