difficult to clear a path, so that's what they're doing right now on the scene. this home is located on bird street near maryland avenue in wilmington, and this all started around 10:30 last night. a fire inside the two story home and then part of that building collapsed. the flames could be seen for blocks and the fire was placed under control around 11:30 but crews continued to work at the site because one man was unaccounted for. then overnight around 1:00 a.m., his body was found inside the rubble and the medical examiner's office was called out. that medical examiner remains on the scene. one neighbor said the impact was so great he thought a car had slammed into their house. he looked outside end saw the house burning and he called 911. he heard screams and then rushed into the back of the house to try to save the man but he says he could not get to him. >> the top level of the house was sunk into the bottom level. and so i ran to the back and i saw him and i went to where he was but there was a wall in my way and i kept trying to get
5:35 am
him to crawl closer to him so i could probably pull him and it took so long that the fire, it kept burning and burning. >> reporter: and firefighters said that they tried to get into the back of the building, they did make entry into the kitchen but the flames were too fierce and then the building started collapsing, so they had to get out of the building. they couldn't send any more in. now right here on scene again they are still working to pull his body from the rubble. they also have robotic cameras out here to try to get a better look at inside all of this debris. neighbors did report hearing an explosion but there still remains under investigation. that has not been confirmed by fire officials. wilmington arson task force is on scene. city and state fire marshal, the attorney general's office part of this investigation. one firefighter was taken to the hospital with a minor injury. he was being evaluated. we are live in wilmington. katherine scott, channel6 "action news. >> katherine, thank you for that. new this morning philadelphia police are looking for the gunman who shot and robbed a store owner

19 other people were injured and more than half of the town of pilger nebraska was destroyed by these storms. and you can see in this incredible video i think just captures the size and intensity of these two tornadoes that made a direct hit on the small community about 100 miles northwest of omaha. businesses farms and the town's fire department building were demolished and nearly every single home in the area sustained some sort of damage. the national weather service said the two twisters touched down within roughly a mile of each other late yesterday afternoon and these dual twisters all rare because usually one tends to be bigger and more powerful than the other but these two were about the same strength and tracked together for a long period of time, which is why these cyclones created so much damage. residents were evacuated yesterday but are expected to return this morning to retrieve their belongings and assess the today. understandably, many residents are in shock over what little is left of their hometown.

showing how we had those clouds over our region and those showers that have since moved out but now looking here at the cluster of storms that caused those severe weather out to the west and we're watch something heavy rain move through this and the bulk of this is going to head up to the north. we're not really going to see any action out of this but it is going to reinvigorate itself over the new york state later on tonight. the summer preview today and tomorrow, you're feeling it. it's hazy, it's hot, it's humid and that's because this jet stream is pressed up in canada. high pressure just acting as a heat pump and that's allowing that south-southwesterly flow to purge right into our region, not just today but tomorrow, too. temperatures into the 90's so you're really feeling the heat. the first time so far this year. let's plan it out for you as to what it's going to look like here. by 9:00 a.m., about 79 with hazy sunshine. by noon, 88 degrees. by 3:00 p.m. already up to 90. and we anticipate a high of 91 about 4:00 p.m. and then by 6:00 p.m. you're doing down from that and still very warm and uncomfortable with a temperature of 88 degrees and
5:42 am
i think even at that point we stay drive. looks like the best chance for a shower or thunderstorm popping up would be pretty late at night and out to the northwest. if you're at the shore today it's good place that you can beat the heat and so we're going to see a good amount of sunshine after those early clouds move out and a sea breeze is going to help limit those temperatures. by 11:00 a.m. 79, by 3:00 p.m. already dropping it down to 77 so that's a huge difference from what we'll be having here in the city. here's a look at your exclusive accuweather 7-day. hot and humid, 91 for your high. tomorrow hot with a chance for some gusty thunderstorms late in the evening a cold front comes through. the trouble is sometimes cold fronts sweep through and then you get that beautiful weather and that doesn't really happen, it stays kind of unsettled through the rest of the seven day period. thursday still sticky, 87. at least that temperature down with that cold front passing but still a shower around. friday partly sunny 84 with a shower. saturday now it looks like the weekend stays a bit unsettled. clouds and sun on both days. 82 on saturday as summer arrives with a shower or thunderstorm around. sunday only 80 bought shower

let's do it. on a tuesday morning we made it through monday and it's time to head out on this tuesday here in chester county along route 100 right by the target in exton. that would be right over there. this is route 100 at sunrise boulevard. the traffic there headed southbound toward the route 30 bypass is moving fine. this is near where they're doing that big widening project and in advance of that they're also been doing some milling and paving and you can see part of the roadway along one hundred is newly paved with the darker road surface. no crews working right now so everything is open along 100. meanwhile not quite all open along the northeast extension. northbound side past quakertown, they still have the right lane blocked for construction but on the east west pennsylvania turnpike all is clear right now. no construction to worry about, no delays. don't forget in upper merion trinity lane is now closed through right before independence day through july 3rd between holstein road and swedeland road 320. just stick with south gulf road. it kind of runs parallel. and balligomingo road has reopened after being closed all day yesterday because of a
