here with the latest with accuweather and possible storms. >> i am starting here in the shade, that is the place to be, yesterday was the hottest day and today even hotter. yesterday 90 and today 94, 10 degrees above normal. the record high for philadelphia for this date is 86, so not a record yet for philadelphia however we did set a record in atlantic city. the atlantic city airport temperature 94 degrees, that breaks the old record of 93 set back in the 1960s, millville currently 93 and wilmington 92 and trenton 91 and 90 on the beaches, are you not getting a sea breeze to cool you off are you getting a land breeze and have you to go into the ocean to cool off there. the heat index is high south of philadelphia, sea isle city, it

to try to move the bees out. this is where we find "action news" reporter kenneth moton. >> reporter: sharrie here at this toll plaza, those bees were all the buzz, that is my first and last joke of this report. drivers saw the swarm of bees traveling eastbound this morning on the turnpike and they landed on the toll plaza making it an interesting day for workers and drivers, surrounding or more like swarming the traffic lights at this pennsylvania toll plaza, it was quite a sight. tens of thousands of honey bees made themselves at home. >> this is one of more interesting ones we have done, this is definitely the first one on a toll plaza, drivers at the valley forge exit, noticed the insects this morning. toll workers opted not to work near the lane and many kept their windows closed and they turned it into an easy pass to

keep it movie. and then phil from the bee company arrived to the delight of workers. >> honey bees is the only stinging insect that swarms. >> this is 30,000 to 40,000 honey bees following their queen. and they believe the heat is one reason they were on the move. >> the goal is to get the queen from the swarm into a hive. once we get it into a hive, and most of the bees will fly into the box. >> that is exactly what happened. that bee keeper was able to get the majority of the honey bees out of here, by the way lane number nine, i can tell you is busy, i mean open again. that is last one. live in king of prussia, kenneth moton, channel 6 "action news."

launched the investigation, it took them that long to comb through all the accounts that the suspect allegedly stole from and that suspect antoine turay turned himself into police. >> they say that he stole more than 3$300,000 from an 89-year-old neighbor that suffered memory loss after a fall. >> he took advantage and took money back and forth and paid off his credit cards. >> the victim lives nature the funeral chapel on the 2400 block of north 22nd street. >> i heard he was doing something he wasn't suppose to be doing. neighbors saw him dropping off food to the victim and police say that he gained her trust and called her grandmom. >> he was taking her to doctors appointments and trying to gain her trust, but he was stealing everything she worked hard for. >> it was the victim's niece and nephew that noticed missing money in the multiple accounts she had.

the ceo of general motors was back in front of a congressional committee on capital hill, mary barra testified about the ignition switch problems that led to crashes and deaths and the recall of millions of vehicles. this is her third time in six months in the hot seat. lawmakers want to know why it took some many years to do the recall. >> i'm not afraid of the truth

amazon unveiled their smart phone today. the much rumored device is officially called fire. the ceo show off the device and it has 3-d features that are visible without special glasses and sensors that track your head and it allows you to open menus by tiltling the phone. the odds of a third company breaking through with a smart phone are slim with apple and samsung already dominating so much of the market. a new facility to help those with addiction started today. it was for day time new jersey's outpatient building in salem county, substance abuse treatment for adolescents and adult women. >> a partnership for a new jersey high school and college

time for the accuweather forecast and cecily tynan talking about this draining type of heat. >> was just complaining about how it makes you tired when it is this hot. this is a live picture from the lake, we see plenty of sunshine but the mountains definitely a lot cooler than inland or at the shore today. >> currently in tannersville, quakertown 89 and coatesville 91 and saint davids 90 and like i was saying yesterday, at the shore today it was a land breeze not a sea breeze, temperatures in the 90s on the beaches, surf city, 90 and glassboro 90 in hockessin, delaware, 92 degrees, we are in record territory, the high so far 94 degrees, the record high is set in 1962, actually set in 1957, allentown,

not really close to the record, trenton and wilmington and the atlantic city airport the old record of 92 set at 62, and a record high in our region, and the official numbers coming in in the next ten minutes. the temperatures are not much higher, south of philadelphia, is where we have the higher dew points, washington, d.c., feels like 101 in dover and it feels like temperatures in the triple digits, if you look up to the north, buffalo and binghamton, the heat index in the 70s, there is a battle zone between dry air trying to move in from the north and stickier air from the southwest. this is causing a pretty intense line of storms working its way through detroit and nearly 2,000 lightning strikes and this whole zone shifts to the south and

east, it's pretty far away. not looking to see any real activity. showing at 9:00 a few spotty showers in the poconos, about 1:30 and showers and thunderstorms in the delaware valley and the poconos, and things fire up at wee hours of morning especially south and east of the philadelphia, a break in the action at 8:30, and the system reloads, we'll have thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon, we really do need to keep the umbrella on hand. uncomfortable and warm and muggy and the low in philadelphia 70 and 68 in allentown and predawn thunderstorms, the five day at 5:00 shows very unsettled with showers and thunderstorms especially in the afternoon, it takes the edge off the heat, on friday the drier air moves in and 84 degrees, low humidity and a beautiful day, this whole front returns on saturday, that brings us an easterly flow for the first day of summer. it feels more like spring.
