>> good morning, 5:00 a.m. now thursday, june 19 here's what's happening. >> storm tracker 6 live double scan shows you a line of stormy weather leaving the delaware and lehigh valleys. accuweather tells us what happened next. >> a gunman unleashed a hail of gunfire in philadelphia overnight leaving one man fighting for his life. >> robbers ransack a home and kidnap a teenager holding him for ransom, "action news" is tracking the developments. >> david is off, let's head over to karen, are the lightning rattled me awake in the overnight. matt pellman is looking at the

roads. >> reporter: lightning heavy downpours, we had a cluster of storms that moved in the overnight hours. we can see them off the coastline. it raced through the area, wasn't that long ago was over the city, now we see it well off the coast. if you're up in the poconos maybe you have a sprinkle there. other than that you can see the region is dry. that didn't clear out the atmosphere. satellite and radar is showing we're dealing with a lot of the clouds and you can see showers and thunderstorms s out to the west. they are looking to fall apart as they head toward the region. i think the heaviest cluster of showers and thunderstorms is done for the day. the rest of the of the day we're dealing with clouds and a shower around, 73 in philadelphia. 69 in allentown, 71 in millville. not as hot atmosphere yesterday, but still kind of sticky. as you're heading out the door, lots of clouds and humid, 6:00 a.m., 74. 8:00 a.m., 76. the day itself is going to

feature clouds with a shower or thunderstorm in one or two spots today. 84 degrees for your high. it all changes this evening setting us up for a beautiful day tomorrow, details coming up matt. >> reporter: good timing on the storm, get them out before the morning rush. we're drying out on the roads ways, even drier than an hour or so ago, things are looking getter. lincoln drive and kelly drive we have a broken down tractor-trailer that tam told you about ten minutes ago. it's off and has its flashers on. it's not causing too much of a problem. you may find downed tree limbs and debris in the roads, but for the most part the highways are open no major problems on roosevelt boulevard or i-95. on going construction on the tacony-palmyra may not be your best bridge yet. we have a crash 55 southbound near deptford that's out of the

way no issues there. no issues on 42 near the walt whitman bridge, speeds in the mid 50s. storm damage in northern delaware, for instance in claymont the traffic lights were not working at 13 at 495. 495 itself remains closed, we know why it's closed, but it's still closed. i-95 the alternate no delays on this thursday morning. tam. >> the lightning the rain, the winds the storms fired up overnight in the delaware valley. "action news" reporter, katherine scott is live in west deptford township gloucester county, new jersey, where a house was struck by lightning. >> reporter: good morning, tam we heard several reports of lightning causing fires across the area that's what officials believe happened in west deptford. they believe lightening struck the chimney here at this home on will i understand drive and sparked a fire in the attic. firefighters were called in

around 3:00 a.m. and the fire was under control within a half-hour. the storms were powerful they tore through quickly this morning. in wilmington you can see the downpours on french street and mlk boulevard near the amtrak station, it was just pouring. lightning streaked across the sky. in prospect park delaware county police were on the scene after a taxi was stuck in the high water. the vehicle was stalled in the middle of the road. you can see the police on the scene. we did see road flooding elsewhere, as well. but at this point we can see the storm moved out of this area, we can hear the birds chirping here. there were quite a bit of storms that move through very, very quickly. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> new this morning, a hail of gunfire quickly beyond a reasonable injured a 23-year-old man overnight. the man was hit with a barrage of bullets. police say the victim was shot

four times, but the gunman fired at least 12 shots. the victim is in stable condition, no arrests yet. also new the hunt for a sexual predator who police say attacked a patron of a northern liberties nightclub last night. security cameras caught the man placing his arm around the woman's waist and guiding her away from the club and lounge, when the club closed the man offered the woman a ride home. after accepting the ride home she passed out when she awoke she said the man was sexually assaulting her. if you see the man, somehow recognize him from the video call police. >> police are looking for the gunman who kidnapped a teenager and stole $30,000 from his family at his bustleton home.

they forced him to call his parents the teen talked to his father. >> they have my son kidnapped and then my son call us from the guy's phone and said give us everything, the money, the jewelry whatever you got. trade my son for what we have inside. my son was scared and told him everything we had and told them everything. the. >> the gunman later left the son on a philadelphia street unharmed. >> some people are seeing rain right now. >> reporter: if you go up to the north or in the poconos i'm going to show you that right now. storm tracker 6 live double scan around the region, the cluster of heavy storms that we had, you can see that's off the coastline, but let's go in a little bit tighter if you're in the poconos or scranton, you're left with some leftover showers at this point, we're not done for the day, but the heaviest

stuff that's out of here. let's go outside and see what it looks like. we have a fair amount of clouds left behind as sky 6 goes live over the center city center city skyline. the dewpoint 68 degrees. the points south at 3 miles per hour. the storms moved through in the overnight hours and raced out of here, we had a lot of lightning with with that and heavy downpours and gusty winds as it moved through the area. the cluster is off the coastline. you get the idea looking at this. we have lots of clouds and showers moving in from the west. we'll pick up a shower or two perhaps during the morning.west. much of the morning will be dry. it will be that kind of day, clouds and shower.

at approximate-- 3:00 p.m. we'll see showers organize themselves and we'll have a pop-up shower late in the day. the front comes through and brushes out the atmosphere it's a beautiful thing. we end up with clearing skies and lowering humidity setting us up for a great thursday night and terrific friday. if you're heading to the beach during the daytime today it's not going to rain all day by any means. we'll have a fair amount of clouds and shower. by 11:00 a.m., by 3:00 p.m. cutting the temperature down to 77. the heat we had in the temperatures in the 90s the past couple of days, it's less humid and northwesterly wind it's going to be great. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, clouds and showers here or there, maybe a thunderstorm, but the heavy thunderstorms that's done for the day. 84 degrees for your high today. the late evening hours and nighttime hours are terrific. and tomorrow more of the same. it's nice and less humid, no

fine. restrictions along the pennsylvania turnpike. despite the storms they were working on the westbound side between willow grove and fort washington taking out the right lane. i imagine they will be out there shortly. speeds in the 60s along the turnpike. in falls township we have restrictions along old route 13 between pen valley and mill road because of a deteriorated drainage pipe in the area. the flaggers will be out there helping you out in that area. we have a lot of people out the big firefly music festival. concert starts tonight at 6:00 p.m., extra traffic along 1, and scarborough road. the firefly music festival caused bigger jams than nascar. time for the commuter reports to you by the waze app.
