clouds. there's a few passing showers, as well. for today, there's the brief passing shower in the city, anticipating highs around 77, 78 degrees. jersey shore topping out around 73, 74. tomorrow it turns much milder and the return of sunshine, sunday looks like a perfect ten around the delaware valley and it turns humid next week with the showers and thunderstorms. i'll have the details in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. eva? >> developing right now a manhunt is underway for an eablgd -- alleged rapist in center city, police say he followed a 26-year-old doctor overnight and raped her. annie mccormick has the details. >> reporter: eva, police remain on the scene in the block where the rape did occur. they are trying to retrace the rape system's suspect looking

for surveillance video any clue to find out who this perpetrator is. this is video from earlier this there was a larger police question. a 26-year-old doctor at the university of pennsylvania was out with friends on the 1500 block of sansom street. she left around 1:30 and walked home to her apartment in the 1900 block of spruce street. the rapest followed her up the stems anticipate forced himself into his apartment where he raped her multiple times. he left around 2:30 and the victim called police, he is a hispanic male 25 to 30 years old, wearing black jeans and black t-shirt. she didn't see anyone fitting that description at the bar she was at that evening. if you have any information contact philadelphia police special victims yiewpt. reporting live rittenhouse square, annie mccormick anne

channel 6 "action news." >> an alleged hill -- hit-and-run killer is under arrest in bucks county as is the man who tried to cover up the crime. melissa rachel hit and killed vincent perry junior as he walked along bristol pike. steerchl pagano hid the vehicle. >> pagano why did you try to hide the car. >> i don't know what you're talking about. >> reporter: police said he used the license tag from the truck and washed it, telling investigators he watches a lot of crime shows and knows how it works. osha is investigating the death of a worker at a demolition site in south jersey. chopper 6 was at the scene of the site of a former blockbuster

on route 38. a worker from mancusso contractors was crushed. two people are dead including a 4-year-old child. 35-year-old james dennis was pronounced on the scene. the two people were among the 6 thrown from a pick up truck when it hit the guardrail. the single vehicle crash happened near the farley service plaza. the driver is in critical condition, three others suffered serious injuries. the perkiomen bridge in montgomery county is shut down, it will be for a while. inspectors found damage on the beam on the bridge and the concrete reinforcement bars. penndot closed the bridge as a

precaution. repairing or replacing the bridge may take a year or more. drivers will face a 2 1/2 mile detour. >> that bridge is out. it cannot handle the traffic. >> it will be a mess and nightmare for commuters. . last year penndot reduced the weight limit on the bridge no official word on what caused the new structural concerns. >> comedian tracey morgan continues to improve following the horrific accident on the new jersey turnpike earlier this month. morgan is out of the hospital and moved to rehab where he will continue his recovery. a spokesperson for the actor said he is showing signs of improvement, but has a long recovery ahead. morgan broke his leg and ribs. his friend james mcnair was killed.

one, two, three! >> after the winter everybody was waiting for this. a whistle shrill opened the pool in north philadelphia yesterday. look at the smiles. more than 100 kids lined up for day one. the cruz pool is the first of 70 city pools to open along with the 9 spraygrounds. >> i come here with my sister and mom and dad, coming here having a good time. >> park and recreation leaders want to remind all swimmers to obey the rule at all times. the rest of the pools will open over the next few weeks. i don't think it's quite a pool day today, although crong it will keep the kids out of the water. >> reporter: there will be clouds cover out there and some of you may need an umbrella from

is going to be. it's one little batch here quickly working its way to the south and to the east. i've drawn this red line right here, i don't expect any showers to make their way any farther north and west. this will be the cloud line, as well. you get north of the line, you'll see sunshine out there, or at least more sun than clouds. you get south of the line, it will be the opposite, probably more clouds than sun. you might get sunny breaks, but cloudy will rule the sky and passing shower from time to time. surface maps like this, the high will force the low to the south, when we get into sunday, it will bully its way down and push it out to sea. tomorrow, bright blue, comfortable breezes, feeling fantastic. monday the high pushes farther to the south, anytime that starts to happen this time of

the year, you have to watch for the bermuda highs. watch the heat that builds on the backside of the high. the high sitting here. we have 90s getting into the heartland of the nation. everybody is in the low 90s. that air mass works its way east over the next 3 or 4 days. some of the forecast models some of the latest information to come into the weather center suggests wednesday into the 90s. today, early afternoon shows a lot of cloud cover, maybe a brief, passing shower. don't cancel the plans. later this evening, that small unorganized area of low pressure will work out to sea and it will take all the cloud cover with it. sunday looks gorgeous. the jersey shore, 70, temperatures will be comfortable, 75 degrees, lots of clouds on the beach.

"action news" reporter, annie mccormick joins us live from the 1900 block of spruce street with details. annie. >> reporter: eva moments ago the crime scene unit arrived on the scene. they are talking to svu detectives. it was inside the apartment that they also the rape occurred. take a look at the video. this is video from earlier today when police initially responded. what we do know right now, the 26-year-old doctor from the hospital of the university of pennsylvania was out with friends at a nearby bar in the

1500 block of sansom street several blocks away. she left around 1:30 walked home to the apartment 1900 block of spruce street. the rapest followed her up the steps and forced her into the apartment where he raped her multiple annual times, he left around 2:30 and the victim called police. he is a hispanic male 25 to 30 years old wearing black screens and black t-shirt. she told police she did not believe that anyone with that description that she saw at the bar or walking home. you can see detectives are talking to neighbors and crime scene unit has gone inside with cameras possibly looking for more evidence as they try to piece together who is responsible for the crime. they are looking for any input from the public or surveillance video. if you have that information contact police. reporting live from rittenhouse

"action news" was in the philadelphia lawncrest section as firefighters put out hot spots on rutland street. one person was overcome by smoke and sent to the hospital for smoke inhalation. a neighboring home had smoke and water damage. the red cross said 6 people were offered shelter and other help. investigators are searching for what started that fire. police are investigating an accident that seriously hurt a boy in the strawberry mansion section of philadelphia. the 8-year-old was hit at 26th street and ridge avenue around 8:30 last night. police say a car went around a stop septa bus and hit the boy. he was taken to children's hospital philadelphia where's in stable condition. four people had to be rescued after their boat hit a dock on the delaware river in burlington county. it happened near the 500 block

of east pearl street around 10:00 p.m. the rescued were carried away by stretcher, they are expected to be okay. neighbors in south philadelphia are buzzing about some unwelcomed company near their front doors. it seems that a large group of bees thought they would move in along the 2200 block of mifflin street. the swarm was blanketing the doorway to two homes. they didn't attack anyone, but their presence was enough to worry the people who live there. >> they might be inside the house, now i have to be cautious when me and my children and family go into the house, because i'm scared i have to chase bees out of my house. >> reporter: good news, the beekeeper cape to the rescue and scooped up the estimated 1300 insects and told residents there's likely a colony nearby. a woman credited with a

influx. pope francis is scwumming into the debate over whether to legalize recreation drugs. the problem of drug use is not solved with drugs. he blasted legalization efforts he said permitting addicts to use narcotics in no way resolves the problem. the pope's comments come amid a movement to legalize marijuana in the u.s. and south america. he was a speaker at the drug enforcement conference in rome. 52-year-old frank shaffer of lebanon, pennsylvania, went before the united methodist appeals panel in maryland. he was defrocked because he performed a marriage and indicate the he could not uphold the church's doctrine. >> this penalty i receive was not in line with our church law, i'm hopeful that the panel will do exactly that look at the law

>> hello on this first official day of summer. taking a live look on sky6 hd cape may, new jersey, a little cool today, but you'll enjoy the sunshine with some clouds out there today. here's a look at what's happening in and around the delaware and lehigh valleys. the firefly musikfest continues today and tomorrow for at the woodlands national speedway. this is the third year for the event. 80,000 people are expected to attend.
