sarah is off. in the news a violent night in the city ends with two people murdered and authorities make an arrest in carnival games from a fundraisener south jersey. but the big story on "action news" tonight is the latest on the surge for a rapist and attacked from and center city and investigators release this surveillance of the moment when the suspect approached the victim right there on the 1900 block of spruce street. he then forced her inside the apartment where he sexually assaulted her. "action news" reporter david henry is live at the scene with the latest. david. >> yeah, walter, he committed his crime under the cover of darkness hoping no one would see him. what the suspects was not counting on was this camera. he was captured on video surveillance walking up and down the 1900 block of spruce street. police say the suspect approached his victim from behind. they say he grabbed her by the neck and forced her into her apartment building and then upstairs to her apartment. and that's where they say he raped her. and police say he then took her

iphone and keys and left. only to return later and assault her again. the 26-year-old victim was walking home alone after leaving a tavern at 15 and sansom. it's a chilling scenario for others who live nearby. >> it's very scary and i think it's going to be reminder for a long time to all of us we need to be extra careful. >> it is a neighborhood on edge. a neighborhood where people are acustomed to living without fear. >> one of the beautiful parts of living in center city is you have a sechbs freedom and don't have to watch over your back every night of the year. >> reporter: the nighttime video doesn't reveal the face of the suspect. but police are hoping someone who knows him may recognize him just by the way he carries himself. he's described hispanic between 25 and 30 and 5' 5" to 5' 10" and weigh about 160 bounds and black hair and wearing a black tee shirt. blue jeans, dark ball cap and

carrying a black messenger bag. police say he had a bicycle before the assault. the news spread quickly throughout the neighborhood putting everyone here on alert. >> it's a great area. everyone is friendly. it's pretty shocking that happened. >> reporter: police want to get this guy off the streets past fast. you can get a closer look at the surveillance video on 6abc.com. and if anything at all rings a bell about him police want you to call them right away. live in center city, david henry, "channel 6 action news." walter. so disturbing, thank you, david, please in philadelphia are investigating eight separate shootings overnight that left two people dead in north philadelphia a 16-year-old was shot and killed while in a large crowd along the 700 block of montgomery avenue. and a bullet shattered the window of a police cruiser and a second person was also shot and critically injured. in i tioga section a 24-year-old man was shot and killed during a fight outside the galaxy night

club along the 3300 block of germantown avenue. so far police have no suspects in the shootings. accident investigators put the woodstown employment spent the afternoon at the scene of a serious crash south harrison, gloucester county today. a motorcycle collided with another car at the intersection of route 45 and franklinville road. the motorcycle rider was air-lifted to keerp hospital where he remains in critical condition. well, 20 people and dozens of pets are out of homes because of a fast-moving fire today in montgomery county. this was the scene in pensburg. crews arrived 6 a.m. and found flames shooting from the upper floor of this three story apartment building and it took them nearly an hour to get this under control. 20 people are now without a home and being assisted by the american red cross. several pets were killed as well. the cause of the fire remains under investigation. we turn now to the weather. it's the first full day of summer. feels more like springtime out. there "action news" was along
