>> good afternoon. rick is off. in the news this noon, at least one person is hurt after a car crashes into a tree along the roosevelt boulevard. john kerry makes a surprise visit as the violence increases. and this morning kathleen kane announced the findings on the report of how the investigation was handled during the news conference on 6abc this morning. it faults police and prosecutors for delays but found no politics were involved. and "action news" reporter, chad pradelli, joins us live in harrisburg with the full details. chad? >> the independent review found that prosecutors were reasonable in the investigation of the case, but also found mistakes made that it could have moved more swiftly and lessoned learned.

and the report by geoff moulton found no direct evidence that politics played a role in the sandusky investigation. among findings found the lead prosecutor on the case wanted to file charges after the initial victim came forward, only to have her superior deny the request and push for more victims. and he believed that the victim was shaky witness and that the state only had one chance to make the case and convict. >> take the evidence as it was at the time, then the decision not to charge fit with an within acceptable bounds of prosecutorial discretion. >> and kathleen kane says her predecessors showed lack of y r urgency using a grand jury convening once a month. and failing to search his home within timely manner and not asking others questions. and they feared bringing charges

too soon would lead to an acquittal and prevent others from coming forward. and they wanted the secrecy of a grand jury and in the end this points to the fact that sandusky was convicted on most charges and sits behind bars for life. >> even a highly successful final result does not mean the investigation itself was a complete success, particularly when a child mow less -- molester was uncharged for a long time. >> and a lack of urgency in taking sandusky off the streets and made tactical errors that could have brought him off the streets sooner. >> and governor corbett's statement reads in part i am proud of foes who fought for the victims and the release reaffirms intendity.

and we will hear more on later editions of "action news." chad pradelli channel 6, "action news." >> as it broke this morning we streamed it live on the new 6abc.com where you can find report now including details of what the investigators found that is on the new 6abc.com. breaking news now. chopper 6 hd over the scene of a gas leak in camden county. the emergency call came in about a half-hour ago on maureen court in the manor hall development off sicklerville road. there was construction equipment on the scene and they learned an evacuation has been order. no word on what may have caused the gas leak. so far no injuries reported and the latest on "action news" beginning at 4:00. the search continues this noon for the suspect in a sexual assault of a woman in her center

city apartment over the weekend. police say they received dozens of tip calls after releasing surveillance video showing the suspect with the victim. "action news" reporter, vernon odom, joins us live near the scene with the very latest. vern? >> sarah, the manhunt escalating at this hour. the police hope to reinterview the victim today, perhaps they hope to get a composite sketch of the suspect. of course they are scouring this affluent area looking for surveillance video. >> we're on it and will do everything we can to find the person responsible. >> police commissioner ramsay this morning with reassuring word as they look for the rapist who struck in the 900 block of spruce. the police so far released this video of a 26 year old woman strong-armed off the sidewalk into her apartment building and upstairs where she was assaulted.

the assailant can be seen leaving and walking down the street and then re-entering the building. >> he is a criminal who needs to be in the penitentiary. and beyond that i don't think public television let's me say more. >> a hispanic male 5'7" between 20 and 30 never displaying a weapon. this area is quiet and considered one of the safest in the city. >> it is definitely scary to think it really could have happened to any of us. and i guess we just all have to be extremely careful. >> are you always careful anyway >> >> i try to be, yeah. but it is easy to get careless and i guess it is just a reminder that no one really is 100% safe. >> at this hour detectives are gathering video from local businesses and other residents, and enhancing video at this hour showing the suspect riding a bicycle.

talking to several possible suspects over the weekend but had to let them go. live in center city. over the scene of this serious crash on the southbound roosevelt boulevard in northeast philadelphia this morning. a car slammed into the back of a pick up truck near grant avenue and ended up in the grassy median. at least one person was taken from the scene on the stretcher. it's not clear if anybody else was hurt. a woman found lying along the pennsylvania turnpike in bristol township this morning. emergency crews responded to the westbound lanes near the delaware river bridge. it's not clear how the woman ended up there, but authorities say she was alert and talking to paramedics. she was taken to the hospital for treatment. turning now to this gorgeous summer weather, sky 6 hd taking a live look at the jersey shore now, at cape may. look at all of the people out there. just a beautiful day to head to the beach. lots of sunshine, low humidity, as we begin our first full week

of this summer season. meteorologist david murphy is, of course, outside in the weather and joins us now with the accuweather forecast. david, it has been a great summer so far. >> it sure has. following a pretty nice spring overall. temperatures moderate for awhile, but definitely feeling like summertime. not only warm and sunny on the terrace, sarah, also looking at moderate humidity. really feeling good as far as summer days go. looking at the satellite, the most significant cloud cover to the west, some in central pennsylvania. the bigger issue back out in michigan and parts of ohio, that's because of a warm front that's farther to the west. and it is still out to the west of tuesday today and not really giving us sue much trouble. sun burn alert, u.v. index running high today right out of the weekend and right into today as we do have that high sun angle and plenty of are sunshine and a few clouds. and temperatures zooming upward, 80 degrees in philadelphia. warm, toasty.

>> this philadelphia 7-eleven targeted by a masked wantity this morning. a man entered with a mask and a knife and ran off with cash. the police looking at video in hopes to identify the suspect. no one hurt during the robbery. a montgomery county gas station held up by an armed rainor overnight, the police say it happened about 1:30 this morning at the sunoco at city avenue and conshohocken state road. and the suspect took off in a car with unknown amount of no money. no one was injured. >> and amtrak captured service to and from boston after a deadly crash with a car. it struck a car in mansfield 20 miles southwest of boston. two people in the car were killed no one on the train was

the delaware valley, the channel 6 zoo balloon. over the zoo, a beautiful day to go flying in the balloon, no doubt. a couple of highlights, the first how nice it is today. the second, how it is going to turn humid and stormy later in the accuweather forecast. starting now, 80 degrees. really nice out there. the dewpoint below the 60-degree threshold, it is warm but not that humid. and winds light out of the southeast 6 miles an hour. and 78 in allentown, 76 in trenton, upper 70s in wilmington and dover and wildwood. and the low 80s or close to 80 in millville and at the airport in atlantic city. satellite and radar showing you if have you plans to go out driving up and down i-95 today, probably keep the sunglasses handy. a sweep much clouds trying to make it across the regular but it is stuck in central pennsylvania. some clouds mixing with sun but it is overnight and through

tomorrow we see more clouds and sun mix. fairly bright today. sun in allentown, pleasant, 83 degrees the warm my. down at the beach we showed you folks earlier in the newscast in cape may, why not, 78 on the beach. lots of sun and a nice shore day and an important day for sunscreen. and looking at philadelphia's high going for about 84. mostly sunny, pleasant examine -- and humid on the low side. and overnight partly cloudy skies, dropping to 65, right around average. as the front starts to pop through the regular will you start to feel it get slightly humid overnight. going into tomorrow it gets more humid. if you have folks coming home from work later today or maybe you are out and about later on, no weather-related reason to keep you stacked up on the roadways. 4:00, 83. 81 by 5:30 and still right and pleasant and humidity on the good side. no problems with any sorts of

precipitation. tonight for the phillies. back home after a successful road trip against the marlins tonight. mostly clear, mind, 78 first pitch. and probably around 70 for the ninth inning. winds light, a nice night at the ballpark. and tomorrow things change and not looking at precipitation on futuretracker. not in the immediate region. we are getting a few more sweeps of clouds. there would be a sprinkle or shower popping up mainly north and west of the area, the poconos and the other side of allentown and reading. and tomorrow evening pretty much the same story. this precip is ahead of a cold front and that front will be here wednesday and potential for rain and storms. and the steven-d seven-day, pre. and tomorrow humid 85, and the union chasing the u.s. cup at night. and 85 and humid wednesday, but the change on wednesday is that we have a cold front coming through and you are looking at a shower during the afternoon and perhaps a couple of heavy thunderstorms mixed in as well.
