the state. we have the new video. >> it's a nice morning at least to get started. let's find out more about there with david murphy. he's got your accuweather and karen rogers is watching the roads. good morning. >> we've had two this week so far as far as our work week is concerned. a lot of sunshine coming up over the hordes son, a little less cloud cover early on over south jersey for example than what we had yesterday. take a look at satellite. there is more cloud cover just to our west than what we had yesterday, however. and overall we think after some early sunshine we'll get into kind of a sun and clouds mix and maybe even see some thicker clouds late today and this evening. there's also some showers that are going to miss us off to the north by later tonight. there could be a couple of stray showers around but i think that's probably real late tonight. 66 degrees in philadelphia right now, 65 in wilmington, 62 in trenton. not all that humid this morning, so pretty comfortable once again as you step outside. and as we roll through the day, well, it is going to be warm again. 72 degrees by 9:00. by noon we'll probably hit the 80-degree mark. and then 84 by 3:00. that high of 85 probably around 4 o'clock.

that's exacting when we hit it yesterday and then 82 degrees is your temperature by 6 o'clock. it might feel a little bit more humid as the afternoon and evening hours ensue but it's not going to be oppressive. if you want to get errands done this morning probably not a bad idea as it will be apple's stands morning. we are looking at much more humid air arriving for tomorrow though. a chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. coming up in the seven day. >> more details on this terrible accident in new jersey just coming in. chopper 6 is headed to the scene right now. it's on the atlantic city expressway eastbound near route 73 the. that's the exit for winslow and it's involving one vehicle that just kind of ran off the roadway into the woods. we're hearing someone is injured on the scene at this point. emergency crews are responding right now on the expressway eastbound near route 73. so, watch for that. the crews at this point are mostly off to the shoulder. but depending on how they need to proceed we may see more restrictions here on the atlantic city expressway. we also have an accident here

in cheltenham on cheltenham avenue at coventry avenue and a disabled vehicle just coming into us. willow grove at fitzwatertown road. outside on the schuylkill expressway you can see we're dry and clear here. this is the schuylkill approaching spring garden. no delays coming in from conshohocken, gladwyne or manayunk just yet. tam. >> okay, thank you, karen. this is new this morning. a plan is in the hospital in stable condition after he was shot in south jersey overnight. the action cam was on the scene of baird bandaged in camden. he was not in the neck. the search for the shooter shooter going on and police believe they're closer to cracking the case of a center city rapist. several people are now being questioned in connection with this attack. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live in hunting park with the very latest on this investigation. what can you tell us, katherine? >> reporter: well, tam, sources say that police got a ping off the victim's stolen cell phone and that's what led them to that home in south

philadelphia. only "action news" was there as several men were taken into custody. they were taken to the special victims unit for questioning. and that raid happened on the 1800 block of south eighth street. around 1:20 saturday morning on the 1900 block of spruce street, surveillance video captured the moment a man secured his bike and walk up behind the 26-year-old doctor from the hospital of the university of pennsylvania after she was coming home from a night out with friends. police say the suspect strong armed the victim into her apartment building, repeatedly raped her. he left and then minutes later returned and assaulted her again. police released two composite sketches of the rapist who took off with her keys and iphone. source say police raided the house on south eighth after they got a ping off her phone. neighbors stood by stunned at what they were watching. >> across the street from me, yeah, i would never even think about it, you know. you never know, goes to show you, you never know like the people, your neighbors,

anything. >> reporter: and at this point police are not officially commenting on the raid or those men they took into custody. we're live in hunting park, katherine scott channel6 "action news. >> thanks katherine. new video just in. thirteenth street remains closed this morning between arch and race in center city. this after a massive steam leak at the pennsylvania convention center. officials say the problem is now under control. chopper 6 hd was over the convention center last flight as steam filled the air. it triggered alarms. though crews say there was never a real threat. there's no word yet on what caused the problem. >> it is 6:05. a man threatening residents in south philadelphia with a pellet gun was in for a surprise when he go the to one person. the action cam was at that scene sixth and wolf streets a little after 10 o'clock last night. police say when the suspect threatened one particular man with a pellet gun that man hit the suspect repeatedly in the head. the suspect is now in the hospital with serious injuries. so far police have not filed

any charges. >> new research says children may be consuming dangerous amounts of vitamins and some popular cereals may be to blame. maribel aber is live at the nasdaq in times square. good morning, maribel. >> reporter: hey, good morning, erin, yes, breakfast cereals may be giving kids too much of a good thing. a report says millions of children are ingesting unhealthy amounts of vitamin a sink and niacin. the problem is that all three of the nutrients are addd in amounts calculated for adults. rj reynolds vapor is targeting philadelphia with its new e-cigarette. the to be contact back coco had a launch party. it chose the city due to the high number of retail tobacco outlets. they said cigarettes traditionally sell well in the city. the markets were mixed posting some slight moves. right now futures are pointer to go a lower open.

finally philadelphia moves up to a spot on the list of the most visited cities in the u.s. it's now number 13 according to the u.s. department of commerce. the city drew 673,000 overseas visitors last year, that's a 13 percent increase from a year earlier. the country sending the most visitors the uk with 88,000. tam and erin another reason to make philly my next road trip. got to get a philly cheesesteak. >> come down and bring barney. it's a great city for dogs. he would enjoy it. thank you marchly. >> my wife and i go to the city a lot. she used to be a park service ranger. lever i see people from out of town especially if you hear a foreign accent even southern i always say thanks for coming. >> yeah. >> do that. more people will come if they think it's a nice place which it is. storm tracker 6 double scan shows you nice weather this morning in philadelphia and elsewhere around the region. as there's no rain. heading outside, actually you know what -- well, i kind of missed that, but we've got a

nice sunrise up over the horizon in philadelphia. it feels g here's what i was going to show you a second ago. i didn't get it up there fast enough. sara one of my twitter followers responded to a request i sent out for sunrise pictures and vacation pictures am i got both from her. this is from maine. sara with a nice sunrise over the ocean. isn't that nice? yeah. we've got a similar look offer the ocean here in philadelphia and off south jersey as well this morning. and it also feels pretty comfortable. 66 degrees in philadelphia, 65 in wilmington, 62 in trenton, 67 in allentown, 59 in millville and 70 in sea isle and the boardwalk. those vacation pictures those are nice. we've got some sun over the hordes son right now. you can see that out to the west of us on satellite there is a fair amount of cloud cover, not that this is going to totally knock out the sun today but i think it probably is going to be a mix of clouds and sun as we roll through the day. later in the afternoon there's a chance this gets a little thicker. these showers that you see glancing off toward new york

are going to miss us but late tonight we could see a stray shower pop up, okay? up in allentown today we're going for a high of 84, sun and clouds. might be a bit more humid as the day goes on. it's not going to be oppressive out there. right now it's not humid at all. down the shore pretty much the same story. might be a bit more humid but not too bad. sun and clouds overall, temperatures in the 70's getting up to about 78 in cape may. if you're up the coast in brigantine or atlantic city you might actually hit 80 degrees and your water temperature now in the mid 70's. feels good in the ocean. even if you do get a little bit toasty on the beach. 85 degrees then with a mix of sun and clouds, a bit humid later on today and tonight. and then that's how those temperatures are going to go. we'll probably get into the 80's by noon or so and then mid 80's for the rest of the afternoon. our high around 4 o'clock this afternoon. if you are heading to the phillies tonight, 80 for the start of the ball game, 74 for the end. phillies going to try and get a w against the marlins and down the pike the union continuing their quest for the u.s. cup.

mostly cloudy later tonight, maybe a bit muggy, 80 for the start of the match, 76 in the 90th minute. it's the new york cosmos coming in and hopefully the union make quick work of them. and then tomorrow more clouds, more humid tomorrow and after about lunchtime or so, this is the were unclock view we're going to be on the lookout for the development of showers later tomorrow, maybe drenching downpours and thunderstorms. 85, sun and clouds today, maybe a bit more humid late in the day but dry and not oppressive. tomorrow much more humid, 86 the high and there's that chance of an afternoon or evening drenching shower or thunderstorm. on thursday a morning shower is still possible but the afternoon looks brighter and the high 87. and then still warm on friday with a high of 88. on saturday and sunday we get back to the mid 80's. saturday just the slight chance of a pop-up shower or thunderstorm. still a better chance of a couple of those sunday. neither day looks like a washout. >> thank you david. >> time now is 6:10. next, going nowhere fast. teens try to steal a seattle

and so we have emergency workers out there. right now they're blocking the shoulder but we'll have to see if more lanes get blocked at this point on the atlantic city expressway eastbound near route 73. let's take you to another accident in cheltenham on cheltenham avenue at coventry avenue. that's still out there. this disabled vehicle in willow grove, easton road, that's 611, fitzwatertown road as we go outside live another disabled vehicle, you can see it right here, penndot as we look life just coming out pulling up helping assist with this person. this is 422 at trooper and the disabled vehicle on the shoulder at this point and you can see that building volume eastbound in this area as well. construction during the midday by the way beginning at 9 o'clock, 9:00 until 3:00 will reduce it to one lane in each direction and i'm wondering if he's pulling that guy out. it looks like they're trying to get ready to deal with that disabled vehicle eastbound on 422. meanwhile 66 degrees the current temperature in philadelphia. doesn't feel too bad out there right now. by this afternoon, a touch humid but good amount of

sunshine. also a good amount of clouds mixing in and 85 degrees for your high, tam. >> okay, thank you, karen. all new this morning, police in new jersey are looking for clues in a double shooting that left two people in serious condition. this is some new video coming in from the scene in trenton. police tell "action news" two in from the scene in trenton. block of randall street. the gun shots rang out just after 1:00 this morning. police are now talking to witnesses. so far no one has been arrested for this crime. also new this morning, a landscaper was reportedly killed after a bizarre accident, being sucked into an industrial size wood chipper in south florida. the unidentified victim was clearing brush with two others when he's believe d to have mistakenly fallen into the powerful sledding machine. there was no immediate suspicion of foul play but police were still trying to determine exactly what had happened. >> we now know when apple will start producing its larger version of the iphone. abc's matt gutmann has this morning's tech bites.

>> reporter: in today's tech bites a new clue about the new iphone. reports say apple suppliers are going to begin producing larger iphone versions in china next month. the larger screen sizes are said to be to be countering samsung devices. the activity watch from living addresses a problem for most activity trackers and stylish but you can monitor steps and sleep much it's waterproof and comes with bluetooth. however, style does come with a price. almost 400 bucks. you can also be stylish while wearing google glass. they're now designer frames for the device that make it more look like a normal pair of eyeglasses. the diane von furstenberg frames support subscription lenses. a gps harness for its success. players wore it during training and it kept track of their performance fatigue levels, health. coach says it cut doubt own injuries dramatically. these are tech bites. i'm matt gutter man. >> 6:17. a new study offers a surprise

at 80. during the afternoon there's the chance the humidity goes up just a tick. it won't be horrible but maybe a little stickier this afternoon. 84 by 3 o'clock and your high is a toasty 85 degrees at about 4 o'clock before we dive back to 82 by 6 o'clock. late tonight there could be a stray shower but generally speaking it's a pretty nice one today, guys. >> okay, thanks so much, david. well, three teens tried to steal a woman's car in seattle but there was one problem. none of them knew how to drive it. 70's-year-old nancy frederick son was grabbing something from the trunk of the car when suddenly she saw a gun inches from her face. she dropped her keys and the suspects jumped into her kia. but they didn't know thousand drive a stick shift. well, the teens panicked and took off. >> reading is fundamental especially with young children. in fact a new report says you should start from day one. that's according to a new policy from the american academy of pediatrics. they say reading to newborns can enhance child development and prepare young minds for early language and reading ability.

>> police are asking for the pun lick's help to locate a man wanted for corruption of minors. lansdale police have issued an arrest warrant for 28-year-old tiger askew. on june 6 a juvenile male invite add group of young girls in askew's apartment much the boy recorded the girls while they were under the influence. police say askew was home at the time and interacted with the children while this happened. >> police in berks county say a man took concerns about speeding a little too far. they say bruce mccreegan lightface in the middle of a street in perry township.

he also allegedly put a generator, fence posts and toys into the street. he was hoping to slow down speeders in a 25 miles an hour zone where children play. he said that he called police and the township to complain first and then when nothing was done he took the alleged illegal action. mccreegan is charged with risking a catastrophe. children playing with water guns in reading got quite a scare. police say a woman pulled out a real gun and pointed it at them. 24-year-old billy joe george is now in jail on a disorderly conduct charge. a three-year-old was among the children she allegedly pointed the gun at on green street. >> time now is 6:27. a robbery suspect tries to hold up a store but the store owner strikes back with deadly force. how the owner's past likely herself. meteorologist, david murphy and to karen rogers who is taking a look at traffic. good morning. >> nice morning this morning with sun coming up over the horizon. some of us looking at cloud cover. there are clouds spilling in from the west but i think generally speaking we are looking at a nice mix of sun and clouds today and maybe a few more clouds as the day goes on. the showers will miss us during the day and the evening. late tonight there could be a spotty shower around. 66 comfortable degrees this morning. not looking at real high humidity right now so it feels pretty good. winds are very light, 65 in wilmington, 67 in allentown, 62 in trenton, 70's down at the shore. and as we roll through the day it is going to be another warm one. 72 degrees by 9:00. by noon we'll be up to 80 already. and by 3 o'clock, 84. that high of 85 probably hitting around 4 o'clock before we slide back to 82 by 6 o'clock. now later in the afternoon and this evening the humidity may start to tick up a little bit and it could feel a bit more humid than yesterday. karen even higher humidity tomorrow along with some rain. details coming up. >> all right, dave as we look into new jersey we have a

jam-up on 42 northbound. kind of early for this time of the morning from 41 to 295 because we had a disabled tanker truck blocking the right lane. we were watching during the commercial break as everyone was coming over to the left. looks like that cleared up. the jam-up is still on route 42 though at this earl hour and chopper six was overhead of an accident on the atlantic city expressway in winslow township camden county. police say that driver of that car you see there fell asleep, ran off the roadway into the woods, hit a tree. he was injured and was treated and we're seeing now that they're getting that vehicle out of the woods and putting it on the glad bed tow truck. this is eastbound on the atlantic city expressway near route 73. that's the exit for winslow. so, watch for that. it's not really causing traffic trouble at the moment but something we're watching as they pull that car out of there. we have this accident here in cheltenham avenue and coventry avenue still causing a problem this morning and a disabled vehicle in willow grove cleared on easton road so things moving a little better there, tam. >> okay, thank you, karen.

and we're following a developing story out of west philadelphia. police have rounded up three men who they are calling persons of 90 connection with a robbery and deadly shooting of a man. police were called to the 5900 block of market street around nine:30 last night. they say when they arrived they found a 29 year old man lying in the street under the market street el. he had been shot twice. officers rushed him to the hospital where he died. on his way to the hospital he told police that three men jumped him robbed him, shot him and drove off in a white minivan. officers say they found that white minivan at 59th and mark with the keys still in it. investigators say city surveillance cameras in the area captured some of the crime. they also want to get video from a private camera outside of a bar. also developing at this hour the search for the masked robber who held up a local 7-eleven at gun point. the action cam on the scene in the 5800 block of rising sun avenue in the crescentville section of philadelphia around 2:00 a.m. the robber stole $200.

"action news" reporter katherine scott is live in hunting park where she's got an update on the investigation. good morning, katherine. >> reporter: good morning, tam. and police have gotten quite a few tips and leads in this case and one of those leads brought them to an address in south philadelphia where several men were taken in for questioning yesterday. they were brought here to the special victims unit and that's where they remain. and only "action news" was there when police raided that home on the 1800 block of south eighth street yesterday. and they took those men in for questioning. around 1:20 saturday morning on the 1900 block of spruce street surveillance video captured the moment a man secured his bike and then walked up behind a 26-year-old do doctor from the hospital of the university of pennsylvania. police say the suspect strong armed the victim, forced her into her apartment building and repeatedly raped her. he left and then minutes later returned and then assaulted her again. police released two composite

secret service agent. yesterday afternoon the man walked into stan's health food store on the 7100 block of frankford avenue in mayfair, pulled a knife on 46-year-old store owner sharon doyle and said he was robbing the place. police say when the suspect pulled the knife up against doyle's chest, she pulled a revolver and opened fire. the suspect was pronounced dead at the hospital. last night as doyle closed up the place, she said she was grateful to be alive. >> i just did what i had to do. that's at this time. >> your law enforcement helped in acting quickly today. >> i think it didn't hurt. i think it didn't hurt and i think this helped me the most. >> and there she's referring to a guardian angel pendant that her mother gave her years ago. police say the man she shot had a long rap sheet and was just recently released from prison. >> it is 6:36 and this video is just coming in to us from

miami. at least six people have been shot, two are dead. right now detectives are scouring an apartment building where all of this happened around 2 o'clock this morning. police have not said if the shooter is among the victims. we know they're also trying to determine the motive and exactly how this all advancey transpired. secretary of state john kerry in the kurdish region of iraq trying to broker is deal that would end the shrewd sled in the country t kerry gave the iraqi leaders in baghdad a blunt warning. if they cannot broker a deal with their sunni minority their government will collapse. the brutality in the country is increasing. there are new reports that isis led sunni extremists have bumpered 15 civilians and plunk their numbers are women and children. shiite backed iraqi police officers have reportedly shot to death dozens of sunni prisoners. >> back at home rising waters and severe storms are causing problems for many parts of the country. a tornado sheared the roof right off a home in brunswick,

in fact a lot of us are in the mid 60's across the region and in philadelphia we're currently looking at 66 degrees. your dewpoint inching up a little bit but still just below that 60-degree threshold for what we would consider humid air. winds are light this morning too. out of the south at 3 miles per hour. really not much of an issue. there are some clouds on saturday light that will begin to spill in as we go through the day. just overhead and out to the west i can see some of that on the terrace just a moment ago. and as we go through the day we're looking at a mix of sun and clouds with perhaps a little bit more cloud cover later in there day. almost looks like we'll get a nice break of sunshine, though. some of these showers will miss us off to the north. late tonight we might see a shower or two, just stray stuff here or there. 70 degrees by 8 o'clock, 77 by 11:00. comfortable during the morning. in the afternoon it might get more humid and warmer. your high of 85 at 4 o'clock. if you have the option of running some errands or maybe doing a jog or like me just walking to the store to do your errands the morning might

be a little more comfortable than the afternoon. temperatures later today are going to be in the mid to -- about mid 80's really from about philadelphia up to allentown. low 80's in millville and closer to 80 or maybe even the upper 70's down the shore. again later today a bit more humid than it was yesterday but not bad. tonight at the ballpark, mostly cloudy and mild, 80 for the first pitch, 74 in the ninth inning. tomorrow we start out cloud deal. it will be a lot more humid tomorrow and by lunchtime or so we'll be on the lookout for a couple spotty showers to begin to develop. later in the afternoon and evening there's the chance of at least some spotty drenching downpours in that humid air. your exclusive accuweather 7-day, sun and clouds, not bad today, 85. the union at home tonight pursuing the u.s. cup against the cosmos and that should be a pretty good weather night for that. humid with thunderstorms possible later in the day and in the evening on wednesday, a high of 86 and then thursday there could be a leftover morning shower but in the afternoon we expect some drying and a high of 87. still warm on friday with a

i-95 southbound. don't forget about the police activity we've been warning you about that. it's from the steam leak from last flight in center city. thirteenth street is blocked near arch street so you can stick to 11th or you could use broad as your alternate to deal with that one. the phils play tonight at 7:05. you'll see isn't extra congestion there in south philadelphia. and speaking of congestion you see it here on the schuylkill and its lowest speeds we're looking at 13 miles an hour westbound there past the boulevard. we've had a handful of issues so let's run them down for you. still this accident, been out here here awhile in cheltenham. cheltenham and coventry avenue. highland avenue near park avenue a disabled vehicle. royersford an accident coming in montgomery county on louis road near benner so that one just coming in right now. its you could see slow speeds in and an area of yellow 27 miles an hour, 422 eastbound getting pretty heavy from the saint gabe's curve to 23. most of or area is dry as david has been saying storm tracker 6 live double scan showing a couple storms headed near mount pocono and pottsville so watching that.

otherwise that temperature comfortable, 66 degrees, no weather related issues this morning out there, looking pretty good, erin. >> sounds good. thanks karen. we have new dramatic video from overnight. firefighters rescued a 16-year-old stuck on a mountain in phoenix, arizona. rescuers attached a harness to the victim and helped rappel him down the mountain. he is okay. the teen was apparently caught on a very rocky part of that mountain. a texas police officer responding to a report of a woman lying on railroad tracks got there just in the nick of time. newly released dash cam video shows the officer arriving at the railroad crossing early sunday morning. he pulls up, runs onto the track and pulls the woman out of the way. moments later the train sped past. as you can see there that was a close call. the officer nor the woman was hurt. >> goodness. happening today, the ntsb is expected to rereal the official cause of the deadly

points to the north of the it may fall apart but something to keep in minds. everybody else is dry. 66 degrees in pottstown right now. 63 degrees in saint davids. 62 in chester. so, those are pretty common numbers in southeastern pennsylvania. couple of low 60's near the river in south jersey and glassboro and cherry hill. a bunch of other upper 50's. 60's in dover delaware and other parts of delaware this morning. and if you're grabbing the bus or the el, 72 degrees by 9 o'clock, 80 by noon. 84 by 3 o'clock and your high today is going to be 85 degrees. we'll hit that at around 4 o'clock this afternoon. clouds and sun, tam, it might get a little bit more humid later today than it was yesterday. >> okay, thank you, david. breaking news coming in to us now. chopper 6 hd is live over the scene of this breaking news. police are looking for two people who attacked a plan on his way to work in south philadelphia overnight. this all happened on the 1500 block of moore street early this morning. police say the victim is in his 60's and he's expected to be okay. the attackers cook the victim's bagged lunch.

>> ♪ >> welcome back. here are your top stories. homicide detectives are talking to three persons of interest in connection with the robbery and shooting death of a man on a west philadelphia street. before the victim died last night police say he gave them a description of the suspects. police have taken several men in for questioning in connection with that center city rape of a doctor early saturday morning. detectives found the men at the south philadelphia house where police detected the ping of the victim's stolen cell phone. >> outside live on the schuylkill expressway, that's your westbound traffic jamming from the boulevard to gladwyne. your ordinary delay. other than that no big problems on the schuylkill but we've had about five different disabled vehicles. this one here southbound northeast extension at lansdale is causing some slowing, dave. >> all right, karen, we are off to a decent start with temps in the 60's. it's comfortable. 72 by 9 o'clock, 80 by noon.
