good wednesday morning, and good morning to you. another round of violent and tornado-producing storms tearing through the country's midsection. >> this cloud near denver, and this scene over the colorado rapids stadium. a storm cell fell on the game, forcing play to stop. and a tornado in indiana. tahman bradley has the details. >> tornado! >> reporter: frightening moments as an ef-1 tornado ripped through the indianapolis area. it sent residents racing for safety. downed trees with and obliterated homes in this subdivision. >> we heard the warnings on the radio. we were under the staircase. >> reporter: i heard a lot of banging and rattling so i headed downstairs to get to the interior of the house. >> reporter: the 100 mile per hour wind was so violent, it lifted an rv and flung it into

this house. denver was rocked with severe thunderstorms and hail. this is some of what was left behind. in ft .worth, texas, flash flooding. and in the midwest, rivers on the rise. in minnesota, it's a race against time as the state copes with historic flooding. a state of emergency has been declared in 35 counties. this is the city of waterville from the air. entire neighborhoods underwater. >> a lot of human suffering, very painful. yet people are very resilient. >> reporter: the mississippi river is swollen. now five feet above flood stage. >> it's devastating. think of the cleanup they're going to have. >> reporter: residents will continue to keep their kwlies on the mighty mississippi. although it's expected to crest tomorrow, more rain and flash flooding is possible later this week. tahman bradley, abc news, washington. show you where the troubled spots are today. heavy thunderstorms in the

northeast through tonight. that likely means flight delays. heavy storms soak up the plains and rockies. >> and a damp day in northern california and oregon. thunderstorms could pop up any time across the southeast. now moving overseas, the crisis in iraq is worsening, the violence escalates. and syria is now launching air strikes against isis military targets in western iraq. it comes as fighters continue towards baghdad. hamish mcdonald is there. >> reporter: and fighting to uphold a shia-dominated government under attack from sunni militants. it's tearing the nation apart. this commander tells me, there is one solution. >> just one language, now. this language. >> reporter: every vehicle has been bought, and soldiers have been trained, and every weapon supplied using u.s. taxpayer's
