>> and could another bridge scandal be on the horizon for new jersey governor chris christie. we'll have those details. >> accuweather is tracking rain that's to our west right now but there's a chance for heavy downpours later today. >> in fact keeping his eye on those possibilities we've got david murphy stepping out into that humidity to give you your accuweather forecast and karen rogers is watching those roads. good morning. >> good morning, and yeah, there's a little bit of a different feel out here on the terrace than the last couple mornings. take a look at satellite and radar. we have clouds off to the west of us along with some showers and to the east of all of that a southerly flow is making things more humid around here. we're going to wind up with clouds mixing with some sun through the morning and probably through a good portion of the afternoon. this afternoon a couple of those showers might start to filter in but it looks like the best chance of thunderstorms from that line of precip is later in the evening hours and mainly north and west of philadelphia. 74 degrees right now in the city and it is muggy. 73 in wilmington. even allentown up over 70 and 72 in sea isle city. and as we roll through the day

it's going to be a warm one. by 9 o'clock, 77. looks like we'll probably hit 80 as soon as 10 o'clock this morning and then up to 84 by noon. so, a quick march in temperatures today. 3 o'clock's temperature 87 with a lie of 88 around 4:00 and we're still in the mid 80's by 6 o'clock. a couple of afternoon showers. again the best chance of thunderstorms would be in the evening mainly north and west. i'll have future tracker 6 in a couple of minutes detailing how those storms are going to unfold. karen, what about roads this morning? >> well, we have additional crews that just pulled up to this accident scene in west conshohocken. this is the blue route southbound approaching the schuylkill. two penndot trucks and police on the scene blocking the right lane. there was debris on the roadway looked to be broken glass and they were sweeping there out of there but still the right lane blocked on the blue route southbound approaching the schuylkill. not a big delay at this point but just watch for that one off to the side. a disabled vehicle in pottstown here on route 100 northbound at shoemaker road, so watch for some possible restrictions with that one. on the big picture, no big accidents elsewhere around the

region but in center city we still have 13th street closed near race streater so just stick to broad or 11th street and this do you understand traffic signal causing a problem. it's out here blocking the right lane and of course then you don't have a traffic signal on 33 eastbound past 95 so watch for that one, tam. >> thank you, karen. >> we are on this breaking news this morning. we have new details on a double establishing that happened in philadelphia. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live near the scene in olney. katherine, one person being stabbed a dozen times. >> reporter: that's right, tam, and we did just get an update from a chief inspector on this scene. we're told two people were stabbed, a 71-year-old woman was that established at least 15 times. a 54-year-old man was established at least twice in his chest. they were both in very critical condition at the hospital and you can see this remains an active scene here in olney. police were called out here around 4:30 this morning to the 5900 block of north fourth street. a flynn 11 calls came in multiple calls.

police said that the neighbors heard screaming. when they arrived twenty three found the 71-year-old woman in the doorway -- or actually in a neighbor's home. the 54-year-old man was in the doorway of their home and they're continuing to try to piece together what happened here. there is a kitchen nye with a 6-inch blade in plain view but police say they're having a difficult time piecing together this crime scene because this is a hoarding house. they said that it's one of the worst situations of hoarding that they have seen in many, many years. so, they're having a difficult time trying to piece together exactly what happened here. when they arrived, there was an 18-year-old neighbor who was actually hosing down some of the blood, hosing down that 71-year-old woman who was on the neighbor's porch so he has been taken into northwest detectives for questioning. people are not calling him a person of interest but only because he was there hosing down some of the crime scene that they did want to talk to him. so, this all remains under investigation at this time.

but again, two people in the hospital, very critical condition. we're told they are roommates. they've lived here together. they are companions and again, critical condition but at this point the nature of this is unclear. they don't know if there was an intruder or if this was a domestic dispute. at this point it just all remains under investigation. live in olney, katherine scott channel6 "action news. >> katherine thanks so much for that report. a philadelphia police officer is facing charges that she prodded her own children to get involved in fights. 35-year-old tamika gross a veteran the 16th district allegedly took her teenaged children to fights with other youngsters encouraged them to fight and even took part in some of the confrontations herself. >> that kind of thuggish behavior is unacceptable. it happened on more than one occasion. she not only encouraged the child to fight, she participated in the fight. come on, that's just not the way you do things. >> these instances date back to 2012. gross faces charges of corruption of minors and

simple assault. >> it is 6:05 and hang today, the preliminary hearing for the fired chester county music teacher accused of child sexual abuse. prosecutors have charged 44-year-old anton fomin with attempted aggravated indecent assault. they say he sexually abused three six year old students during private lessons at the malvern school of music. he's accused of showing inappropriate photos of children to several victims. >> a progress report on repair work to the closed i-495 bridge. crews have been removing a large pile of dirt from under the wilmington bridge. federal highway officials say the pile caused support columns to tilt. work has been slowed by industrial contamination found at the site. soil samples found elevated levels of lead, iron and arsenic in the top 15 -- in the top 15 feet of the soil. >> general motors is facing a serious number of issues over recalled cars. and is now planning some big action to try to make things right with customers. maribel aber is live at the

nasdaq in times square. she's got more details. good morning, maribel. >> reporter: hey, good morning, tam. general motors plans to offer payments for those injured or killed when one of their car air bags didn't work. the victims or families could opt out of the payments if they want to sue the automaker all this is covering to the wall street journal and details of the fund that gm has set up to make the payouts are expected next week. whole foods will be paying up for overcharging shoppers in california. the retailer will pay $800,000 in penalties. a year long investigation found whole foods charged more than advertised at some locations in a state and in some instances the supermarket put smaller amounts into packages than what was stated on the label. talking stocks abroad selloff on wall street with the dow posting its biggest one day decline in more than a movement today investor wills get a report on gdp for the first quarter. staples is already looking ahead to the next school year. the chain says will it match prices on back to school items as it tries to keep up with

amazon. staples has been hit by two years of falling sales as more people buy supplies online. the back to school program starts this sunday at staples. you know, erin and tam, the kids are saying now school's out for summer. >> yeah, i know. >> let's not even think about going back just yet, we just started. >> starting to get those summer temperature. they don't want to be thinking about back packs. >> not too many people have that on the brain right now and you won't this afternoon, either. storm tracker 6 double scan shows us we're dry for the morning commute. as we head outside, it is muggy out there and even though we are experiencing or expecting some sun to poke through the clouds at times today, it is going to be on the muggy side and eventually we will start to be on the lookout for some showers and in some parts of the area some thunderstorms. the temperature right now is 74 degrees, though, and how about that dewpoint. now, when i showed this to you an hour ago, we were only at about 66. we're now climbing to 68. that's an indication that the

air is getting more saturated and that that humidity is going up. once we hit 70 that translates into oppressive humidity and we expect that to be with us most of the day. winds out of the south at 8 miles per hour drawing that humid air up from the southern states. future trackerfuture tracker 6 w and noon shows you basically dry conditions, just a you believe can of sprinkles and showers around through the afternoon, a little bit more of that but most of the day should be dry. just humid with that clouds and sun mix. by 5 o'clock, to the north and west, though, we'll be on the lookout for some showers and some thunderstorms to begin to develop. and then the best chance of those storms appear to be this evening and mainly isolated to the northern and western suburbs. where they hit, though, they're going to produce drenching downpours as you can see there. let's look a little more closely at today's storms. they're mainly in noon and especially this evening. the worst will be in the northern and western suburbs at night. you could get a quick 2-inches in less than an hour and that would certainly be enough to provide us with localized street flooding where those storms hit. and these storms are going to produce frequents lightning so again if you're in the northern and western suburbs that would be the best chance

of that later in the evening hours. the other part of the story today, of course, is how it's going to feast it will be a day that features oppressive humidity from pretty much start to finish with those dewpoints winding up over that benchmark of 70 degrees for most of the afternoon. temperature-wise, well, what was that be at 75 by 8 o'clock. by 11:00, 82. this is one of those weird mornings maybe not so weird once you get into the summer time where we could actually hit 80 as soon as 10 o'clock this morning. this afternoon, oh, boy, 86 degrees by 2 o'clock, you high of 88 probably around 4 o'clock and then 86 degrees by 5 o'clock. again, a couple of showers in the afternoon but most of your storms later in the evening. high temperatures across the region pretty soupy and warm, 84 in allentown. down the shore it will probably hover closer to the 80-degree mark and again those afternoon and especially evening storms. if you're headed to the phillies tonight with most of the action north and west i expect them to get the game in. can't rule out a spotty shower. don't know about the storm so much. 84 degrees for the first

pitch, 77 in the ninth inning. the phils try to take two straight from the marlins. your seven-day, 88 degrees is today's high, very humid out there, lots of cool drinks will be important with heat indexes getting up into the mid 90's at times. late in the day we've got that shower and perhaps a storm tonight. still unsettled on thursday, a high of 87. it's still going to be on the humid side and a couple of more storms may linger at times. on friday still looking at lower humidity and it's actually going the feel pretty good out there. although warm and summery. mostly sunny on saturday. zinn a bit more humid with a spotty shower or storm possible but not a washout. looks like we're back into the 90's sometime next week. >> okay, thank you david. there's another investigation under way this morning involving a bridge in north jersey and governor chris christie's administration. >> the world cup has great games and now a scandal you can sink your teeth into. karen. >> we're live right now in

73 degrees already expected to get up there in temperature and humidity. >> let's find out more about that and your traffic and go over to karen rogers. good morning. >> good morning. we've got tow trucks that pulled up to the scene with this accident in west conshohocken. this is the blue route southbound approaching the schuylkill and we can see the tow trucks are out here. they've got the cones set up and also police penndot on the scene with this and it's blocking the right lane as well as the exit lane right here, so look for that being blocked on the blue route southbound approaching the schuylkill. people slowing down a little bit as they come to look at the scene but it's not causing a big delay just yet. just one of the things we're out there watching this morning. also northeast extension northbound past lansdale we still have construction out there blocking the right lane and a new disabled vehicle, lower road and godshall road in souderton montgomery county. we have one in pottstown here, routes 100 northbound and that's at shoemaker road. same spot we had an earlier truck fire its been a busy area in pottstown. hopefully there's no debris left over from the truck fire causing the disabled vehicle

but watch for that guy struck out here. in camden county right on the new jersey turnpike southbound construction blocking the left lane. this is going to last about another hour and a half here so watch for that near exit three. that's as you exit off for the black horse pike. so that's usually a busy area anyway so look for that. temperature-wise 74 degrees right now in philadelphia. just a small handful of traffic issues but no weather related problems affecting it. the roads are dry right now. later on for your afternoon commute, afternoon shower, the best chance for storms later this evening and into tonight, erin. >> okay, thanks so much, karen. there are more questions swirling around new jersey governor chris christie and once again those questions involve a bridge. the manhattan district attorney's office and the securities and exchange commission are investigating whether his administration misrepresented a project to repair the pulaski skyway the iconic bridge from the opening credits of the sopranos. investigators are focused on whether christie staffers won

funding by labeling the project as something it was not. >> new here on "action news," the new search area for the missing malaysia airlines flight 370 is scheduled to be unveiled today. more than three months after that jetliner disappeared searchers have found no trace of the boeing 777 or the 239 people aboard it. the flight disappeared back on march eighth. after searching a month and in a 330 square mile of the southern indian ocean australian officials say they're confident it's not there. >> google expected to unveil new gadgets today and the world cup could end up being the biggest social media event ever. abc's matt gutmann has this morning's tech bites. a day android fans have been waiting for. google will kick offer its io developers conference. wearable gadgets expected to take center stage as well as integrated technology for the home and car. the faa shot down amazon's plans to use drone. agencies says they're the same

>> an afternoon of fun nearly turned tragic for a lehigh valley five-year-old. officials in bangor northampton county say some quick thinking lifeguards pulled the drowning little girl from a public pool just in the nick of time. the child lost consciousness but came to after cpr. she was rushed to the hospital but luckily is expected to be okay. also new at 6:00 a black bear lab on the prowl for the past two days in berks county. police responded to the laurel dale cemetery yesterday morning in muhlenberg township much the bear was also spotted morning in muhlenberg township monday. the pennsylvania game commission says as long as the bear does not create any issues, it will not try to catch it. >> 6:27 now. we're working on a breaking story. a double stabbing leaves a 71-year-old woman with more than a dozen knife wounds and home that she lived in. home that she lived in. a live update is coming up at

drenching downpours later today. >> good morning, it is 6:30 on this wednesday, june 25th. >> matt o'donnell is off. erin o'hearn is joining us. let's get right over to meteorologist, david murphy. not necessarily a fun weather day out there, david. >> no. >> and karen rogers has your traffic. good morning. >> yeah, you're right, we are experiencing some changes today. right now it feels a little bit muggy. at least we're beneath the clouds. take a look at satellite. we are expecting some breaks in the clouds later this morning and perhaps in through parts of afternoon and we could see potentially a clouds and sun mix at times. of course we do have that rain out to the west of us. it looks like there's the slight chance of a shower this afternoon. the best chance of a heavy downpour or a thunderstorm would be in the northern and western suburbs in the evening. that's the way things are shaping up. 74 right now in philadelphia, muggy as i mentioned. 73 in wilmington. 70 in allentown, low 70's down the shore. and as we roll through the day, 77 by 9 o'clock. up to 80 as soon as 10:00 and then 84 at noon. 87 at 3:00 and eight, a high at 4 o'clock. a spotty shower during the

afternoon, a thunderstorm possible late in the day or evening and again that's mainly north and west. i'll have future tracker detailing that coming up, karen. >> all right, dave, let's hit the road right now. i-95 starting to get a little slow in spots. not looking too bad approaching cottman and getting a bit heavy from the betsy ross bridge to girard on i-95 southbound. in west conshohocken we've had the accident on the blue route southbound near the schuylkill but it cleared. all lanes back opened and looking pretty good n-fact no delays on the blue route between mid county and the schuylkill expressway. couple of issues going on, though. we've got a disabled vehicle in pottstown, route 100 northbound at shoemaker road, the same spot that was closed earlier because of a truck fire and now we have a new issue here a traffic signal that's not working jackson road and route 100 so be careful. you don't want to fly through that intersection with a malfunctioning traffic light. a downed traffic signal, kind of a similar problem on 33 eastbound past 295. this one's out here blocking the right lane. and one more live look we go in new jersey, 42 northbound not bad just yet. we know that delay is going to

build if you're coming from turnersville blackwood or deptford but so far so good tam and erin. >> thank you karen. we're on breaking news. learning new details about a double stabbing at what police are calling a hoarder house in olney. katherine scott is live on the 5900 block of north fourth street. she's got the very latest details in this story that has been breaking right now. good morning, katherine. >> reporter: good morning, tam, and police say a 71-year-old woman was stabbed at least 15 times from her toes to her neck. a 54-year-old man was established at least twice in his torso. they're both in very critical condition at the hospital right now. they were roommates here, companions. they've lived here for quite some time and police don't yet know the circumstances surrounding this stabbing. they did say a 6-inch blade on a kitchen knife, that kitchen knife was found on a walkway here when police arrived. this remains an active scene on the 5900 block of north

fourth street in olney. police received multiple calls this morning. neighbors reported hearing screaming around 4:30 a.m. when police arrived the 54-year-old man was standing in the doorway. the 71-year-old woman was on the neighbor's porch. a kitchen knife with a 6-inch blade was in plain view. a neighbor was hosing down the female victim and the blood when police got there so he's been taken to northwest detectives. he's being treated as a witness. what's complicating matters here is that this is a hoarding house. the chief inspector here said it was one of the worst he's seen. he says the house is filled with trash, debris, furniture from the basement to the third floor so it's difficult to piece together the crime scene or tell if the house has been ransacked or broken into because of the damage that already existed. >> one of the rear windows appears to have been forced opened but due to the condition of the house, there's some boards on the front windows, it's hard to tell if it's recent damage to this first floor rear window but it does appear that the screen was forced opened.

>> reporter: so, this all remains under investigation. there are a large number of cats here. pacca has been called. we also did ask police if they will be called here before for any other incidents but at this point they have not been able to say. they're still piecing that one together. live in olney, katherine scott, channel 6 "action news." >> katherine thank you. new this morning two police officers and a firefighter suffered smoke inhalation while battling a house fire. viewer video shows the flame along the 600 block of kaighn avenue in camden. the fire startd in an abandoned home. a squatter was injured and flown to the hospital. a family next door was forced to evacuate but they were able to return to their home overnight. the firefighter and two police officers are expected to be okay. >> 6:35 now. philadelphia police are looking for the gunman who shot two teenagers late last night. it happened along the 16 hundred block of south 30th

street in the grays ferry section of the city. police do not know yet if the teens were targeted or innocent bystanders. investigators say at least 11 shots were fired. two hit a 15 year old boy who was on his bike. another bullet wounded a 14-year-old boy. they are both in a hospital in stable condition. >> from our delaware news room, delaware governor jack markell will sign into law a bill today that will make it easier for communities to get a life saving drug. the drug is naloxone also called narcan. it quickly reverses the effects of a heroin overdose. police officers and other first responders travel with the drug and administer it in emergencies. >> it is now 6:36 and an illegal immigrant is behind bars this morning charged with the weekend rape and home invasion of a 26-year-old doctor in center city. investigators say 28-year-old milton garcia had the victim's keys on him and her phone in his house. a ping from the cell led

detectives to the south philadelphia home where garcia lived. garcia was working at a philadelphia restaurant as a part-time kitchen employee. police say the honduran man was deported last year but somehow managed to return. >> severe storms heading our way have left their mark on parts of the midwest. a powerful tornado ripped through the indianapolis area yesterday. the twitter lifted an rv and slammed it into a house you can see there. denver was rocked by high winds and hail. the storms caused scattered. rivers are on the rise in minnesota which is facing historic flooding. entire neighborhoods are under water in the city of waterville. the mississippi river is 5 feet above flood stage. it's not expected to crest until tomorrow. bad situation there. >> indeed it is. david we've enjoyed days of really nice temperatures, cool breezes. things are different today. >> yeah, right. storm tracker 6 live double scan shows you we're dry out.

the issue is the muggy air which is beginning to build. sky 6 shows you there's a lot of cloud cover around the region. you can see that as we take a look at center city and obviously warm and on the sticky side. temperatures 74 degrees currently in the city. dewpoints all the way up there to 68. when we get to 70 we start talking oppressive humidity. does look like it will be in the oppressive range. future tracker 6 shows you between now and noon maybe a couple sprinkles and showers. most of us are dry with clouds and perhaps some sunny breaks. into the rest of the afternoon a couple spotty showers possible. at 5 o'clock all eyes will be on the northern and western areas just outside of our region in all likelihood where there will be some heavy showers and thunderstorms and it does look like this evening those do start to work their way into the northern and western suburbs. these will probably going to be mainly in the northwest but where they hit they could produce some problems and so let's look at that. today's storms, they're mainly

in the evening. this afternoon we might see a shower. the worst of this will be at the northern and western suburbs and then at night any of these storms that do form could form or could deliver a quick 2-inches of lane in perhaps less than an hour. that would be enough to produce localized flooding. the other issue will be frequent lightning. looks like you'll see lots of lightning and lots of thunder with these. again northwest this evening that would be the worse. the other issue is that oppressive humidity i just talked about. dewpoints probably will be over 70 for much of the day. this will be the first day of this summer season that we're going gate to gate with that oppressive humidity. 75 degrees at 8 o'clock today. these are just the numbers. 82 by 11 o'clock. we'll probably be at 80 as early as 10 o'clock. that hasn't happened yet this year. 88 around 4 o'clock before we dip to 86. a spotty shower through the day but a better chance of a drenching thunderstorm would be northwest later tonight. high temperatures mid 80's up

in the lehigh valley, up closer to 90 in the i-95 corridor. down the shore probably closer to 80 degrees. again, afternoon and late day and evening thunderstorms. now, the phillies since you're in center city our south philadelphia and you're not up in those northern and western areas i do expect them to get the game in. i'm going to post spotty storms but i think there's a big chance your biggest issue with the phillies tonight is that thick muggy air. 84 degrees for the first pitch, 77 for the ninth inning and hopefully the phillies can get another win tonight. they won last night. in your seven day, humid conditions, late day showers and perhaps thunderstorms in the evening. still unsettled then tomorrow, 87, muggy but probably not as oppressively humid. there is the chance of a spotty shower or a thunderstorm on thursday. then we get into friday and it's sunny and nice. it will be warm with a high of 86 but humidity will be much lower. in fact, it probably won't be all that humid at all kind of like the last couple of days. saturday looks good, 85 and sun and then more humid on sunday, 86 degrees with a chance of a spotty shower or

you're taking a live look here sky 6 hd looking out over the ben franklin bridge. it's 6:43, 73 degrees. >> we'll head to karen rogers at the big board. a new problem, right, karen. >> we caught this disabled vehicle. you can see the jam-up already. this is i-95 northbound at cottman within that work zone right near that truck so hard to see at the moment but it's out there blocking the right lane. you can see everybody kind of moving over to the left and slowing down from bridge street to past cottman with this disabled vehicle northbound on i-95 in the right lane causing some problems right now. southbound you're jammed as well. more in the usual spot from the betsy ross bridge to girard. let's bring in the big picture here. there are those slow speeds on i-95 that we talked about. southbound about 19 miles an hour when you're heading southbound there at the betsy ross bridge and girard. thirteenth street still closed in center city near race so you want to stick to broad street as your alternate or 11th. phils play tonight at 7:05. lots of congestion there. coming up in south philadelphia. and on the schuylkill expressway slowing there, too, at its heaviest we're looking at about 13 miles an hour.

you see this area of red right here, westbound on the schuylkill from the boulevard and you can see past belmont still traveling just in the teens at best. we have a few issues out there. lately we've had a lot of disabled vehicles and one stuck on route 100 northbound at shoemaker road in spots town. also, we've got this malfunctioning traffic light and police are now on the scene and they're directing you around that. jackson road and route 100. they'll help you through that intersection. a new disabled vehicle in bellmawr as well so watch for that one partially blocking the ramp from 295 northbound to 168. that's the ramp for the black horse pike so watch for that. also, on the turnpike southbound near exit three the construction we talked about there is cleared so some better news. let's check the weather conditions. no weather related problems this morning affecting the road. it's just warm and sticky. 74 degrees right now headed up to 88. chance for a shower fore your evening commute. a better chance this evening and tonight for a storm tam. >> thank you karen.

the manhunt continues for a convicted murderer who escaped from pries none arkansas. a man turned this surveillance video from his home over to police. authorities say it shows the escaped inmate timothy buffington breaking into a safe room and stealing a shot gun. buffington is serving a 20 years sentence for murdering his ex-wife. law on work duty on prison grounds on saturday when he made a break for it. the urge to check facebook made a mess of thing for one criminal. a minneapolis man came home to find he had been burglarized. much to his surprise the suspect had logged onto facebook while in the home and then never bothered to log out. even more unbelievable the suspect later actually contacted the homeowner and said can i get back some of the stuff that i left behind when i was robbing your house? he was arrested at that meeting. >> a united methodist church an peels path overturned the church's decision to defrock a pennsylvania pastor who performed his son's same sex wedding. frank schaefer was let go after refusing to promise
