thunderstorms is currently rock solid west of the delaware and lehigh valleys, but they could scatter once they arrive, and although yes, they could make a lot of noise. wednesday night and the big story on "action news" tonight is the spectation of scattered thunderstorms as wednesday turns into thursday. but lets take a closer look at double scan radar with meteorologist adam joseph. >> jim, a lot of these storms are confined south of montgomery county, if you live north of the lehigh valley storms passed through earlier just a steady rain there. no storms are on the severe side right new but they are making quite the noise through chester county, delaware county and new castle will county. in the last 15 minutes or so we have seen 105 lightening strikes, within this vantage point but you majority of the strikes right now are in the state of maryland. here's time line for this storm as it progresses east at 15 or 20. enter claymont at 11:08. media also at 11:08.

android devices. now a developing story, police have shot a man in the olney section of philadelphia. law men stopped the vehicle in the hundred block of west champlost street at 9:30, police say the man inside pulled a gun on them and then they opened fire. the five five-year old suspect was taken to einstein medical center, with gunshot wounds. he is in critical condition, no police officers were hurt. this past weekend's rape at 19th and spruce in philadelphia brought members of the center city community together tonight. the issue had to be safe, both as an individual, and as a neighborhood. "action news" reporter sharrie williams has the story. >> reporter: residents showed up eager to learn what they can do to stay safe, they were met with a lot of information, and also, services provided through the city but residents were reminded tonight that they truly are the strongest resource in preventing crime. >> preparation and prevention, that was part of the message,

latest happened in the 7100 block of seaford road last tuesday, witnesses described the suspect as a slim, african-american man between 5 feet eight and 5 feet 10 inches tall, he also has a mustache, goat tea and a gap between his two front teeth. delaware state trooper is recovering tonight, after he was shot trying to apprehend a domestic violence suspect. the shooting happened this morning in magnolia delaware. after a brief chase police say that the suspect, dennis hicks, got out of his car and fired on corporal lloyd mccann. corporal mccann was hit twice but return fire. mccann is in serious but stable condition. hicks later died of his injuries. hatfield township police released clearer pictures of a man accused of stealing a wallet ape going on a shopping spree. police say wallet was stolen from a vehicle at school road park on june 14th. victim was officiating a baseball game at the time, surveillance pictures show the suspect using the victim's

credit card at various stores in hatfield and towamencin townships. police say the the suspect was driving a ford explorer. philadelphia police have released surveillance video of the woman struggle against a burglar in her own apartment building. they are hoping the images will help them fine the attacker. "action news" reporter dann cuellar has the story in action forward circle. >> reporter: the the attacker was waiting for the victim hiding in the bushes at oak lynn terrace apartments. "action news" spoke with the victim, who wants to see her attacker caught. surveillance footage may help police do just that. surveillance footage shows the 45 year-old victim fighting for her life struggling with her attacker in the vestibule of her apartment building in the 1600 block of roosevelt boulevard. the victim's cell phone recorded audio of the attack. >> he said give me money. >> reporter: victim whom we are not identifying still has bruises on her arms. the attacker threatened to kill her. >> he said give me the money,

i got family. i got problems. i need the money. >> reporter: police say the attack happened june 15th around 10:00 p.m. video shows the attacker following her across the the apartment parking lot as she goes inside, he goes in after her, tupelo like an animal stalking a pray. >> he grabs her and threatened to shoot her and then, drags her and seeing her resisting. >> reporter: man drag the victim back out to her car, he demanded more money then she had. >> she doesn't have much money. he then makes her call somebody, and she does do that. >> reporter: he drives her around the building while waiting for a friend to bring more cash. he took the cash with the friend and drives off again with the victim. he then kicks her out of the car nearby and then takes off, he then tried to conceal his identity touring the attack but police are confident that someone will know who he is. >> he wraps a t-shirt around his face but during the struggle there is a couple seconds where you might recognize him or recognize him by his build. >> reporter: victim's car was found a couple blocks away.

center city, try right now there but not much longer. as we track this thunderstorm near media not severe but decent amount of lightening strikes, 22 here, heading towards havertown at 11:20 or so. land down at 11:22. and darby at 11:23. but as we widen out a little bit and we look the at these severe storms down in the state of maryland those lightening strikes jump up to 157, so we are being spared by the severe weather which right now is in the state of maryland and as these storms are pushing in from the west, we are starting to weaken them as they move into a marine layer. temperatures right now, 76 in millville. seventy-three sea isle city. allentown at 73 degrees. lancaster at 69, with steady rainfall, as we track these storms we can see them from new york city through i-95 corridor down to baltimore and washington and as they approach and move east at
