is closed for safety concerns, how the emergency repairs are affecting drivers. and a laundry room thief causes a gas leak and evacuate at a philadelphia apartment complex. but the big story is a hot and muggy day in the wake of powerful overnight storms. some people are still cleaning up the damage. this is the scene on delancy street at 23rd this morning in center city. the branches came down during the storm and accuweather is still tracking the chance for showers today and right now the skies are a mix of clouds and sunshine as we look live at sky 6 hd in wilmington this noon. lets head now outside to karen rogers with more. >> i'm standing here in bright sunshine and it's a warm day and we feel humidity but not as oppressive. satellite 6 and action radar

shows the storms from the overnight hours move well off the coastline now and some clouds are left in its wake and we mix lots of sunshine in with that. we see spotty showers popping up here and there. looking at the numbers it's already 81 degrees, 79 in allentown and 81 in millville and even on the boardwalk in a.c., temperatures in the upper 70s and feeling sticky in some spots as well. here is what to expect today. warm conditions and sticky, doesn't feel comfortable in philadelphia and the northwest but as you go along the coastline and the shore in south jersey and delaware it feels oppressive there. and a spotdy shower possible later this afternoon. i won cancel plans, if are you headed to the phils, 7:05, 84 degrees for first pitch. 78 in the ninth inning and we

was also wounded. the victim surprised the teen as he was trying to take car keys from the home so he could steal and sell the woman's vehicle. while investigating the attack, detectives founds trash and debris in the home and seized a number of cats. a mess left behind from a water main break in philadelphia, making matters even worse, a sinkhole opened up as the water flowed out of the cracks in the buckled roadway. it happened on the 88 hundred block of bradford street. katherine scott shows us all the damage. >> the water was eventually shut off but there was still a big hole in the middle of the street here, neighbors woke up to police pounding on their front doors. >> the policeman knocked on my door and said move your van or you are going to lose it.

>> so eugene mott moved his car, the brick in the 8-inch main was reported at 5:30 a.m. and neighbors rushed to move their cars. it was like a river. >> water gushed through big cracks in the pavement and streamed along the street. a sinkhole opened up and threatened a minivan next to it. >> we called him and left him a message. i remember he has the house keys but not the car keys. >> the crews turned off the water at 7:00 a.m. but the damage remains. crews were able to haul the minivan out of the hole easing the vehicle over the broken pavement. between 60 and 70 properties lost water. >> there is no water it will take a while. >> after the minivan was towed,

more equipment was hauled in and there is more work to be done this afternoon. katherine scott, channel 6 "action news." commuters in camden county will need to avoid a stretch of white horse road because of a bridge in need of structural repairs. engineers shut down the road between the white horse pike to start the repairs. the bridge will remain closed until the work is complete. somer dale road is your best alternate. philadelphia police are investigating a violence home invasion in strawberry mansion, on west berk street, the homeowner answered a knock at the door, to men forced their way inside and hit the victim in the head with a gun before tying him up. the intruders stole three flat screen tvs along with a cell phone and the victim was cut on the head but refused treatment, no arrests have been made yet.

a bank robbery suspect that tried to get away from a scene on a septa bus is now linked with other robberies. daniel connelly was arrested on tuesday evening, and he allegedly robbed a wells fargo bank, the teller gave him cash including a tracking device, and that led police to the septa bus, and connelly is now charged with four other robberies. an armed thief held up the 7-eleven store in the fishtown section, it happened at 1:30 after a.m. on west girard avenue. they told police that the suspect demanded money and took off with the cash. the clerk was not hurt. someone apparently trying to steal from a laundry room caused a gas leak, the suspect broke the fuel line to the clothes

dryer in an apartment building. officials believe he was trying to steal the driver or tamper with the coin slot. six people were told to leave their homes while pgw turned off the gas nobody was hurt. right now the u.s. takes on germany in the world cup. there are new details this noon on details of malaysian airlines 370, it was revealed the plane was on auto pilot and remained on auto pilot until it ran out of fuel. it vanished on march 8th and they are moving the search area off the southern part of australia's coast. police in arizona have released dramatic new video of a confrontation with a knife-wielding suspect and officers inside of a sheriff's office. the 39-year-old man was booked into jail for disorderly

conduct. he was carrying two knives and spoutding threats, finally he was handcuffed and no officers were injured. two dozen people were taken to the hospital many of them teenagers, others were treated at the scene, many patients were on drunk or on drugs, it happened during an electronic music show. the stadium was cited for allowing intoxicated concert goers to come inside. and now a man is accuse of leaving two dozen ducks inside of a hot truck with no water or air. a person called the police after hearing the birds on hamilton street in spring garden, they found 25 ducks inside crates, they estimated the ducks were in there for at least a day, the driver faces animal cruelty charges and the ducks will likely be placed on a farm.

karen here now with accuweather, and another summery day out there. it's summer and feels like it, wait until you hear the seven day. looking at stormtracker 6 live double scan around the region, we are dry and staying dry for the next few hours at least, lets head outside and see what is looks like, we are looking live in cape may, it looks like the lifeguard is up there and he has his feet up and the water is actually pretty inviting, and a good way to escape the heat, a couple of kids are running in. it's 81 degrees right now in philadelphia, pretty much uniform in the region, 79 in allentown and lancaster, and along the beach around 80 degrees, but the thing that is

varying is the dew point, the pleasure of how much moisture in the atmosphere, how humid it feels, the low 60s in philadelphia not bad. only slightly humid. 64 in allentown and reading, slightly humid but along the coastline, it's oppressive humidity, 70, 71 in wildwood and dover, one you get over 70 or upper 60s it feels oppressive. it feels comfortable in philadelphia and down the shore, if you are looking to escape the heat there is a hard time doing it. storms from overnight raced on out here. clouds mixing with sunshine and you can start to see showers start to pop up here and there. and we have to keep an eye on the radar, 3:30 showing a shower or two starting to pop up. it's not a big deal, not looking at a cluster of storms that will provide damage for you. very quickly it moves on out of

here. later this afternoon we'll watch for that. if you are headed to the shore it's humid there, 81 at noon and by 3:00 p.m., 84, no sea breeze today but the water temperature is nice 72 to 75, it's starting to waurm a bit. 88 in the city and sunshine and clouds, watching for the spotty shower, and the winds are breezy at times with 16 miles per hour. partly cloudy tonight and it gets more comfortable, the dew points fall over the nighttime hours, 69 for the overnight low, can you feel pretty good in the overnight. watch for the spotty shower around this afternoon and 5:30, 86 and not a bad commute, you shouldn't have too many weather commute problems, here is your exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, clouds are out there mixing with sunshine, and 88 degrees for your high so it's warm and slightly humid and you are getting the chance for a
