>> good morning, it is 5:30 on this saturday june 28. here's some of the stories we're following for you on "action news." all new overnight two people are dead after a quick-moving fire in a north philadelphia row home. the search is on for a hit-and-run driver after a young boy is hit and left for dead. turn off the ac and open up

the windows, mother nature is giving us a break from the summertime temperatures. it's been steamy lately. >> reporter: we should say temporary break because the heat and the humidity returns in the seven-day forecast. we're down in cape may. should be a fantastic day on the beach. looks like a gorgeous weekend around the delaware valley. you will see a sea breeze quick in that will cool the numbers off just a little bit down there at those shorepoints. 67 in philadelphia. on the boardwalk in atlantic city, look at this, 70 degrees, sea isle city, 70. inhandle, temperatures have dropped way off. 58 in millville. trenton, 61. allentown, 66. 59 for the poconos. high, thin clouds stretching across south jersey and delaware this morning, otherwise we're

seeing mostly sunny skies. that's pretty much how your day is going to play out. we'll see a lot of sunshine out there, just a few puffy clouds from time to time. low humidity levels, temperatures seasonal. 10:00 a.m., 75 degrees, 3:00 p.m., 85 degrees. as we look ahead here, the weekend as a whole looks pretty nice. we'll see sunshine today and tomorrow, then the heat and humidity returns and the showers and thunderstorms return. we'll have pesky downpours, as well. we have a rare 4th of july treat and i will show you that in the seven-day forecast coming up in a little bit. >> philadelphia fire officials are looking for what sparked a fire that killed a woman and young boy. the fire started on the second floor of a home on the 1500 block of north 6th street after midnight. firefighters say seven people were inside the home at the time of the fire.

there were working smoke detecters inside the home. the flames railed up the stairs trappingment woman and child. >> i didn't know whether to run in there or stand back, by the time i got to the door i seen all the flames shooting out of the top window. i could just yell yell her name. father she do all the men around here,s a cookout up that's a nice family. >> the family lived there for decades, the calls is under investigation. -- the cause of the fire is under investigation. a 9-year-old is hospitalized by a car that fled the scene. it happened in camden. the boy's injuries are very serious, but he is expected to survive. police are still looking for the hit-and-run driver. road rage turn to murder. philadelphia are searching for a shooter.

the action cam was along north 5th street if kensington. police say a 32-year-old man was in the street in front of his home arguing with a woman. the argument prevented traffic from getting by when an upset driver got out of the van and shot the man twice and fled the scene. the victim was pronounced at the scene. the van was abandoned a block away and the gunman is at large. a road rage ended in a stabbing in gloucester township. police say carl constanino approached michael brown. brown tried to run from officers, but was captured, brown faces charges for alluding police. showboat casino hotel has

made it official, it's doors will close at the end of august. the biggest blow comes to 2100 people who will be out of a job. >> i'm devastated. >> the showboat is the second casino to close. the atlanta club will -- shut down last december and the revel will close at the end of august. the ceo said they are calling it quits because the city has voiced emphatic support for a casino to be built in center city. he said the market potential in philadelphia has declined. the fire station in philadelphia somerdale section is out of service. the closure begins today to allow a scheduled replacement of the floors. the work will take about 6 to 8 weeks.

the firefighters there will be relocated to surrounding stations so the district remains covered. pennsylvania state republican leaders say they plan to assembly a state budget of over $29 billion that contains no new taxes. the plan passed by the house on wednesday includes spending cuts to off set a 1.7 billion-dollar deficit in the budget proposal and $380 million in revenue in the unlikely approval of private advertising the state liquor stores. monday night is the deadline for the state budget. there's an education milestone being celebrated in the city of scam den. the largest class yet graduated from the leap academy charter school it's the 10th year in a row every student has graduated and gone to college.

>> reporter: high school graduations are a familiar scene this time of year, but this group in camden has a unique story. these graduates are part of the leap academy university charter school and for the 10th consecutive year 100% have earned their high school diploma and 100% are heading to college including senior marko leps who- lopez who is heading to rutgers to study engineering. >> it's a joyous occasion in camden one of the poorest most violent cities in the counter. >> kids from camden they are the miracle in many ways, it's children nobody believed could do it. >> they are more dedicated, the teachers are more in tune with the students. >> reporter: it's a proud night for parents, vanessa jones' son

>> firefighters say a wildfire burning in southern colorado has grown to 700 acres. officials thinkment blaze was started by lightning on monday. 35 firefighters were battling the blaze yesterday and major recent forcement were called in. a sky crane helicopter and two
