that's one of the summer holidays where you're sweating it out and doing the barbecue thing, that won't be the case this year. quakertown, 60 degrees, warrington, 61. saint davids in the 50s glassboro, getting out the 50s, you're at 60 degrees. same number for cherry hill. vineland, 63. smyrna, 61. sea isle 70 and woodbine 58. high pressure right over top of new england that means a comfortable, nice looking day for the delaware valley. the air sinks underneath these areas of high pressure it's difficult to get too much in the way of clouds. we're expecting a lot of blue out here today. the barbecue forecast the grills will be fired up today, sun and clouds, 83 degrees by 1:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m., 82. again it is nice and comfortable. so looks like a great weekend, then the heat and humidity returns and that means more

thunderstorms, some of them will produce heavier downpours it clears out in time for the 4th and we have a very rare 4th of july treat for you guys, temperatures are so cool i had to do a double take whistles filling -- whistles filling -- whistles filling out the >> a young child and woman were killed in a fast-moving fire. within minutes flames swept from the second floor of the home to the third floor. a 69-year-old woman as young boy were found dead in a third floor belt room. >> doing a preliminary investigation smoke alarms were present. there was a report there were approximately 7 people home when this fire started. the smoke alarms alerted them. >> commissioner sawyer said the third floor bedroom was not

shut. that allowed the fire to get inside the bedroom. the commissioner urges everyone to sleep with doors shut if safe to delay the progress of a fire. the family did not have a home escape plan. police say road rage over blocked traffic ended in murder they are looking for -- they found this green minivan they think is linked to the shooting. the search is on for three people who were inside the minivan. the victim was in the street arguing with his girlfriend. drivers started honking, one person got out and pulled out a gun and shot the man. >> it appears at this time that this shooting is motivated by road rage. our shooting victim was on foot just blocking traffic while arguing with his girlfriend causing people to back up in traffic not being able to drive around him. >> reporter: the minivan was

found abandonnd on the 500 block of west indiana. police are analyzing surveillance video of the van at the murder scene. wawa welcome america celebrations begin today. the hope is for everyone to have a great time, keening everyone safe is -- keeping everyone safe is serious business. david henry takes a look at security surrounding the event. >> all the information comes in here. >> reporter: this is the nerve center. technicians were busy setting up the joint operation center. police, fire and other public safety officials will be glued to the screens looking for trouble. they will be relaying information to uniformed and undercover personnel in the field. >> we have other matters that i can't talk about, but there are

people out there making sure that everybody can come down and have a good time, but we'll keep everybody safe. >> reporter: the boston marathon bombing has public safety officials on edge. there are no credible threats, but they have to be on watch for a lone wolf type of attack. >> we wanted to spot reports or quick check ins on a regular basis. >> reporter: the city officials gathered before the launching of this massive undertaking. >> we'll be able to see if we have a camera in eye shot or move a camera quickly or work with police radio to deploy personnel. >> reporter: the city is getting help from cellular networks that set up five mobile towers to boost capacity. and the city is the asking for the public for help, as well. >> if the public sees something

season. because of the developing el nino most are expected below average hurricane season, expecting ten tropical storms and ten -- two hurricanes. ment el ninos strengthens the strong gusty winds a30000 feet. we get the long track hurricanes here, it will encounter the winds it will act is a pretty quicktive shield it will take the top of the storm and displace it from the bottom of the storm and it collapses. the one thing we have to watch, this is a good sign for the u.s. mainland. the one issue is that temperatures close to the coast are very warm and he could end up getting the storms developing close to the mainland that don't have the chance to feel the effects from the el nino. that's one thing he have to watch, these close up storms develop out of nowhere and

child. >> i didn't know whether to run in there or stand back, by the time i was getting to the door i seen all the flames shooting out of the top window. and then i could just yell her name. she helped clean the block and father's day she through a big father's cookout. she was real nice, that's a nice family. >> the family who has lived in the home for decades. the cause of the fire is under investigation. a nine-year-old is hospitalized after being hit by a car that fled the scene. it happened around 10:40 last night at 32nd and west field avenue in camden. the boy's injuries are serious, but he is expected to survive. police are looking for the hit-and-run driver. road rage turns to murder. this morning philadelphia police are searching for a shooter. the action cam was along the 2800 block of north 5th street

in kensington. police say a 32-year-old man was in the street in front of his home arguing with a woman. the argument prevented traffic along 5th street from getting by. that's when an upset driver got out of van and shot the driver twice and fled the scene. the victim was pronounced at the scene. the van was recovered a block away. the gunman remains at large. the chips are down for yet another atlantic city casino. the showboat made the expected announcement it will be closing its doors by the end of august. that will mean more than 2,000 employees will be out of work. "action news" new jersey correspondent nora muchanic has the details. >> i have 64 days left to work and that's it, i'm done. >> reporter: cocktail waitress gloria hoffman worked at showboat for 24 years getting word that 2,000 employees will be out of a job.

>> in "health check" this morning, new research suggests tanning beds may be more dangerous to young people. researchers looked at people 25 to 50 with basil cell carcinoma ma. they reported more use of this kind of tanning when they were young. researchers say this is proof that more stren gent laws -- stringent laws are needed to discourage teens from using tanning beds. a clinical trial treating dogs with bone cancer may help people in the future. ali gorman has all the details. >> reporter: for bob, his dog
