thursday, hazy, hot and humid. it's a good day for a tee time. oppressive humidity returns in the seven day forecast. now it's the first heat wave is on the way. the first of the year. these two combined with the heat and humidity, we have strong thunderstorms. >> two convenience stores were targeted by armed robbers in philadelphia. this wawa in the city's university city section was held up at gunpoint at 5:00 a.m. police say the suspect was dressed in all black anticipate armed with an handgun. he demanded cash and ran off. nobody was hurt during the robbery. a 7-eleven in the philadelphia roxborough section was the target of robbers. two armed men entered the store on the 7100 block of ridge avenue at # 15:00. they demanded money and ran off. nobody was hurt during this robbery either. the third robbery of the

7-eleven in philadelphia in the last week. a montgomery county dunkin' donuts may not be serving coffee and donuts after a car slammed into the store. it happened at 1:45 on bethlehem pike in hatfield. police think the driver was speeding when he lost control and hit the building. you can see the significant damage to the car. the driver was not hurt. the building was also damaged. a health and business inspector will determine if the store will open for business today. a teenager is fighting for his life after being hit by a car on the boulevard. it happened at levic and northeast philadelphia at 11:30 p.m. police say the 17-year-old boy was riding on the northbound lanes of the boulevard when he was hit. you can see the damage to the car's windshield where the teen hit the vehicle. he was rushed to children's hospital in critical condition with a serious head injury. a young girl was killed

when a gate fell on top of her at a rita's water ice. police are looking into the tragedy this morning. nora muchanic has the details. >> as i looked up it was falling. >> reporter: allone brady was -- allison brady was across the street when the frame of the large metal security gate let go. >> it was more than a thud it was a big bang. some people thought it was gunshots. >> we saw the awning laying on the ground, but didn't realize there was a baby under the awning until the mother started screaming. >> reporter: friends say 3-year-old winter larkin was at an annual fundraiser for a fraternity and is a -- sorority. more than 20 men struggled to lift it and hold it in the air. >> the gentleman from the fraternities was holding the

awning up the little girl was on on the ground they were trying to resuscitate her. she died at the hanheman hospital. some went to the hospital to be with grieving family members, others were taken in for witness interviews. >> we're protecting the scene to do the investigation. it appears to be a horrible tragedy. at the crime scene unit officials trying to figure out why the securities gate separated from the building, neighbors reflected on the random freak accident. >> you send your child out to get a water ice and the next thing happens a sign falls on your child. it's sad. >> a wrecker was brought in to remove the gate. police sources say the neighbors complained about it being loose, at least one complaint was made to licenses and inspections.

hospital in critical condition with a serious head injury. a young girl was killed this weekend when a gate suddenly crashed down on her at a rita's water ice. the five hundred pound frame of the large metal security gate fell on top of a 3-year-old girl crushing her to death. it took 20 men to lift the gate off the little girl's body. inspectors are looking at other buildings on the blocks. neighbors say they complained about the gates being loose. lawmakers are working on a bill that would fill a 380 million-dollar budget deficit without raising taxes. tom corbett said he would agree to a tax increase only if the liquor and pension changes were
