perez in the news tonight 90 degree temperatures make a return to the accuweather forecast. >> veterans gather on the golf course to raise money for fallen heros. >> the big story on "action news" tonight is the investigation into how a metal security gate fell killing a child at rita's water ice storech the business in bruhlry town remains closed more than 24 hours after a heavy grate detached and fell killing a 3-year-old girl. vernon odom is live at the scene with the latest. vernon. >> reporter: good evening, sarah, enormous tragedy in brewerytown tonight it happened yesterday afternoon and police and l & i continue their investigation into this gruesome tragedy and it continues full tilt. if you look behind me you can see the numbers along the wall in front of the rita's water ice they're the locations where the fastening bolts were in there and they're the ones that came loose when the gate fell over and killed the girl. the manager of the water ice

store was here at length talking to police again today and authorities are so far saying little for the record. today the police crime unit was back at the scene at yesterday's tragedy at rita's water ice and brewy town. a large security gate fell open a 3-year-old child and killed her. she's been identified as winter lark inever yaden. there were multiple witnesses at an annual sfupd razor event for a sorority and fraternity. >> it is horrific and senseless and sad. >> they said it came tumbling down there was no warning and came right down on the little girl. >> members of omega psisi fraternity lifted the gate to cpr could be performed on crushed child but it was futile. >> it took 0, 30 minutes get the awning off the baby. when they timely got it up off of her she was laying there lifeless. >> l & i inspectors were on the scene after the incident checking length of lag bolts

that fasten the gate to the building. police gathered more evident today and dug into the walls to take pieces of plywood for forensic examination. the bolts to attach the gate should have been at least 6 to 8" longch the ones found at the scene only 2 and a quarter inches in length. >> passers by started to leave a little memorial out here to the death of this little child. a candle there burning and nrouzers. but that's all you can see right now is this rita's water ice remains closeded. all investigators remained tight lipped tonight as the probe continues. live in brewerytown, vernon odom, "channel 6 action news."" >> thank you, vernon. there is new evidence to help catch a hit-and-run driver in camden county. lindenwald police released surveillance of a ford pickup truck that hit a man last noyingt nightch the 57-year-old victim was unconscious on the road and taken to the hospital in critical condition.

this morning upgraded to stable. investigators believe the suspect's truck is f-150 with silver tool box across the back and may have damage on the front passenger side. anyone with information should contact linden wald police. >> an accident ended with a teen aimer in critical conditionch the 17-year-old victim was riding his bike when hit by a car intersection with levick street late last night the victim went airborne and suffered serious injuries and head and lip. the vehicle that struck him was going through a greelt at the time app the driver stopped at the scene and no charge where filed. dunkin' donuts is reopened after a car nroud into the building. people hem pike hatfield and crashed into the donut shop early this morning. fortunately the store was closed at the time. firefighters freed the driver who was not injured and the toner tells us he decided to open up shop despite the damage.

joseph and karen rogers. >> war veterans gathered on a golf course in west philadelphia today to honor three fallen heros day on the links doubles as a fundraiser to support military families in the region. annie mccormick has the story from could be's creek. the sixth annual bridge company bravo golf outing honored another anniversary sunday den years ago it three mar greens that company died. carol todd's son was one of them. >> we were the last people to see our son alive -- they were, so they are our children and friend and family just as much as anybody else. >> the todd family came to the golf outing for the first time this year. and the purpose of the outing is important to them. it raises money for military families. >> the guys that come home, they're hurt, they're wounded. physical wounds, mental wounds and those guys need our support. >> three reservists honored

>> bullets went flying on bourbon straight new orleans this morning. nine people were wounded. one of the victims is in critical condition. the rest are listed as stable. the gun fire interrupted during an argument involving two men and tonight both suspects remain on the loose. this was third major shooting on bourbon street over the last three years. well, hollywood is mourning loss of a familiar face.

actor mishak taylor who mravd assistant anthony buvee on designing women died in his home last night. he garnered emmy nomination on designing women which ran 1986 to 1993. the cause of death is listed as colorectal cancer. he was 67 years old. >> the whitehouse may order increased security measures at airports around the world in light of new threats. sources say syrian terrorists are working with other radicals including al qaeda and yemen working to make harder to detect bombs and devices mold told toothpaste or would haven into clothing and western born members of syrian terror groups the concern is they would try to smuggle explosives on board using u.s. or european passports. pakistani girl that survived assassination plot by taliban will receive the national constitution center liberty metal this year.

17-year-old girl was shot in the head by the terror group in 012 after she spoke out against a suppression of women. she was chosen for liberty metal because of continued fight to secure education for children throughout the world. the presentation ceremony will take place tuesday, october 21 sat 7 p.m. at the national constitution center in philadelphia. that ceremony will air at a later date right here on 6abc. and nasa says it's so-called flying saucer experiment was a success even if there was a glitch. a balloon hoisted the craft 120,000 feet into the sky and on board rocket took that device another 30 miles up. on the way down, though, a giant parachute got tangled so saucer endured a hard landing. it's not a big deal, saying it is an easy fix. theoretically this technology could be used to one day land a

1934. it won't get that hot this week. but, temperatures will easily climb into the 90s as we get to tuesday and beyond. and outside this evening, temperatures along the 95 corridor in lower 80s. philadelphia 8, wilmington 80. poconos 75. winds coming in out of the south. you have that south facing wind that is starting to develop for some of our shore munitys beach haven to sea isle sill yet temperatures in the lower 7 0s. 77 dover. satellite 6 and action radar high pressure in control. off the coast of new england. this high continues to fight off south and east for start of workweek on monday w the high moving offshore it happened to southerly wind. good news tonight. for the most part on monday showers and storms stay to the west. with increase in southerly wind you notice up dmrees humidity and temperatures will be warming up. but by monday afternoon i think the humidity will be a touch more noticeable than the increase in the temperatures.
