philadelphia. it flooded the area at shelmire at 4:00 a.m. the water department was able to turn off the main. we're following developing news, the search has resumed this morning for a teen who disappeared off the coast of ocean city, new jersey. police say the 14-year-old philadelphia boy was on a jetty with friend when he fell into the water at 7:00 p.m. several people on the beach jumped into help, but they, too, were swept up by rip currents. crews rescued 14 people, but have yet torched the 14-year-old. -- yet to find 14-year-old. coming up at 6:30 we have information on what to do if you get caught in rip current. police have a video of a

truck that struck another vehicle in bethlehem. police are searching for a white pickup with a silver tool backs in backs -- tool box in the back. a 57-year-old man was hit and found unconscious on saturday night. investigators believe the driver of the hit and run vehicle is an 5 can have 150. >> friends and family of a south jersey woman will hold a memorial to mark the one year anniversary of her miss -- mysterious death. the 59-year-old had been missing for four days. prosecutors have yet to row lease a cause of death, but they are investigating it as a homicide. happening today, the supreme court is expected to

and karen for weather and traffic, good morning. >> reporter: all right guys we're off to a comfortable start across the region. we have a fair amount of cloud cover and some breaks, overall we expect sunshine mixing with clouds and the showers you see in central pennsylvania we think they will fall apart before they get here. 69 degrees in philadelphia. it's a little bit on the muggy side. 70 in allentown, reading. 62 in millville, 70 in sea isle city. 85 degrees by noon, the high this afternoon is 88 probably hitting that around 2:30 or 3:00. back to 83 by 6:00 p.m. clouds and sun overall a bit more humid. tomorrow it gets hot and humid, by midweek we could have drenching thunderstorms. >> reporter: it may be clear and dry right now, dave, but we have a handful of issues on the roads. this vehicle fire is off on the shoulder on the new jersey turnpike as you exit for exit

recusers are looking for a 14-year-old who disappeared in rip currents. it happened an hour after lifeguards left the beach. 14 people dove into help, but were swept away by rip currents. crews rescued 14 people, but have not found the missing teen. >> they had boats and jet skis and the coast guard came. >> very upsitting, i hope they find him and hope theived him alive -- they find him alive. this is a still frame of what the rip current looks like. it's a river of water that goes directly out to sea and kind of sucks everything along with it. if you get caught in one, you don't fight it. you do not want to go directly back to the beach. the water is too strong it will tire you out very fast.

instead if you find yourself in one, swim in a diagonal fashion or parallel to the beach until you're out of the current and finally, stay away from pierce and jetties that's where the currents can be the strongest, nydia. >> confess continue to swirl around the metal gate at a rita's water ice shop in brewerytown. the gate fell on a toddler killing the child. 3-year-old wynter larkin was killed on saturday when a 2,000 security gate broke off the buildings and landed on her. police and men who gathered for a fundraiser at the shop rushed over, but efforts to revive wynter larkin failed. the bolts used to secure the gate should have been 6 to 8 inches long, they were only 2 inches long. a restaurant owner down the street said he had concerns about the gate for quite a while.

against pse&g and a contractor. philadelphia new ban on electronic cigarettes goes into effect tomorrow. the new law regulates cigarettes like tobacco products they will be barred from bars and public parks and will not be sold to minors. drivers will not be able to use any handheld device behind the wheel even while stopped in traffic or while waiting at a stoplight. violators will see increased fines raging from 200 to $600 depending on the offense. philadelphia is enjoying it's week long wawa welcome america celebration. today's events includes children's story time at the academy of natural sciences. mayor nutter will once again participate, along with matt o'donnell. children will enjoy free admission as partly of the go forth and learn fest visits.

evacuation slide inflated inside a united airline also plane that was flying to los angeles from chicago. the pilot landed the plane safely in wichita kansas. nobody was hurt. the plane will be inspected today. president obama will announce stepped up efforts to handle the crisis along the southern border. the president is expected to ask congress for $2 billion. it will help with the thousands of children who poured into the county illegally. obama wants to speed the deportation of the uncompanied minors. he wants to build facilities to properly house and process the children. >> lawmakers in pennsylvania and new jersey need to pass
