flames. we hear from her. the supreme court weighs in on whether employers can claim religion beliefs to avoid paying for certain birth control. and a project looking to transform a neighborhood.. details. >> one minute, loretta was working on her laptop and the neck she was rushed to the hospital with serious burns. authorities say the lithium ion battery in her laptop exploded and flames spread over her upper body, charred her clothing and damaged the carpet in her home. and speaking with letter hours after released from hospital and live outside of the fire department with more on the story. >> that's right, rick, investigators from the fire department here are looking into exactly what caused that laptop battery to explode as you said. the fire that occurred in the woman's home sent her to the

hospital, causing burns and damage to her living room. >> all of a sudden at any blew up. >> using the 6 year old computer at the desk when fire broke out. >> i caught my shirt on fire. i grabbed my shirt off. the rug was on fire and everything, it blew like five or six feet. >> and burns on her arms and face as she ripped off her burning blouse and used it and the water from her dog's bowl to distinguish the flames and she hurt her foot as she ran from the room to get her disabled husband. >> and my foot is the worse. i came down and steps on the battery part. yeah, stepped on that. >> they are not sure what caused the lithium ion battery to explosion. it could be the battery, a

>> adam joseph now keeping an eye on a very important week and lots going on. >> yeah shall the first day of july tomorrow. and not only do we change the calendar, but changes in the weather as well. and not for the best. we look now at stormtracker live double scan around the region. we are showing lots of sun. some clouds out there, but all is quiet at the present moment. and temperature-wise pretty perfect for this time of year. 85, pretty much normal for philadelphia. the normal high 86. 84 in the lehigh valley, 84 reading. 78, cooler in dover and at the shore with the wind off the water. temperatures there only in the 70s. looking at satellite and radar across the eastern half of the country. all looking ok right now. to the west a little showers in the appalachians but they fall apart here this evening. and tracking a cold front

pushing through the midwest. along the front severe weather south of waterloo in yeah. some tornado watches and warnings, hail damage. pushing east towards chicago. it is weakening and it will continue to weaken. we will not see that severe weather with the front. as the front arrivals it sparks its own down pours and thunderstorms for midweek. but prior to the front arriving from the west. tuesday and wednesday the high pressure will be just to our east. this is a heat pump with the winds coming out of the south. heat indices tuesday and wednesday between 95 degrees and 105 around here. true oppressive humidity. then wednesday afternoon into thursday, downpours and thunderstorms arrive with the front. and if that isn't enough to watch here this weekend, at the end of the week for the 4th of july we will be watching for the possibility of a tropical system that develops off the carolinas and moves just to our south and east. in fact, as we look at what we call the spaghetti plots later

this week, every single line is a different computer model looking out into the future this is for friday, the 4th of july 5:30 in the afternoon. showing the consensus of all of the models agree if there is a tropical feature or storm it slides off the coast, but close enough to bring some rain to the jersey shore and also the possibility of some very strong rip currents for 4th of july and on saturday. if you are at the shore this week it looks great the next two days. take it. and 85 degrees. a little cooler at the shore, ability of a sea breeze. 88 and dry. and thursday the wet day, 84 degrees with number use downpours and thunderstorms. and the seven-day forecast hot and humid tomorrow, 92. and a scorcher wednesday, possibility of downpours and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon. and then the majority of the tropical downpours would arrive on thursday. thursday could be a pretty active day of 88 degrees. then we will watch the tropical

tonight is more trouble for general motors. g.m. has issued a recall of 8.2 million vehicles, primarily because of faulty ignition switch. the latest recall involves mostly older mid-size cars because of what it calls unintend unintended problems. and it has no conclusive evidence that the faulty switches caused the crashes. the recall covers seven vehicles including the chevy malibu from 1997-2005. the pontiac grand pre 2004-2008. the cadillac cts, 200-2014. and the c.e.o. says today's recalls stem from a safety review from within the company and "if any other issues come t
