was much better. lets get the latest from meteorologist cecily tynan and adam joseph. cecily? >> reporter: we start with stormtracker 6 live double scan, impressive storms are breaking out in the suburbs one line in southern lancaster county extending to lancaster 452 and berks county, they have been getting pounded. this region alone, the past 15 minutes, 330 lightning strike, as we zoom in just now east of the reading we are looking at heavy downpours, we have winds up to 40 miles per hour. with this line of storms, right now the main concern is the potential for flooding downpours, near birdsboro, it's raining at the rate of 2 inches an hour and 2 inches an hour in lincoln as well. the weather service has posted flash flood warning for central

berks county until 9:30 tonight. they have already received 2.5 inches of rain here, it's a good time to remind viewers turn around and don't drown, keep the kids away from floodwaters, they are very dangerous. this is ahead of a cold front out to the west and severe flood watches are in affect until 9:00 and more rain is on the way tomorrow and this will sweep out the heat and humidity and that will be a welcome change after today. for details on the oppressive heat lets head to adam joseph. >> not only oppressive, but the hottest day in philadelphia in just about one year, 96 was the high in philadelphia, the last time it was equally as hot was july of last year, this is 10 degrees above normal and the record is 103 set back in 1801, it felt like 103 and 94 in

township, montgomery county, is charged with the murder of his father whose body was found last friday in susquehanna county and his son is also charged in the crime. sara bloomquist is live at the victim's home in plymouth township. >> reporter: well, investigators have charged him with murderering his 88-year-old father, his son david jr. is accused of helping to dispose of the body, the three men, father, son and grandson, shared this montgomery county home where the murder happened. according to court documents, they told investigators exactly how and why he killed his elderly father. crime scene investigators carried evidence, including this large black bag out of the home in plymouth township. the elderly homeowner,

88-year-old jacques has been murdered. >> they are nice people, i don't see them outside a lot, i never thought anything about it. >> it doesn't make me feel good, there is a lot of sickness out there and unfortunately it's everywhere. >> he shared the home with his son and grandson both named david. according to court documents, david senior told investigators he was throwing him out and hit him on the back of the head with a flashlight, killing him. hid the body in the hall closet and stole his gold jewelry and sold it to buy gas and heroin. and got his son david jr. to help dispose of the body, they put it in a tarp and put it in the back of this car and drove it to gibbs bro, they identified

philadelphia, authorities think they know what caused the blast, live at the scene is "action news" reporter, david henry, have you the update. investigators are pointing to a leaking propane tank as the probable cause of that horrific explosion and it's hard to believe that no one was killed when this entire intersection was engulfed by the blast of that propane tank and it may have been a lot worse except forever the quick work of three septa police officers. >> heard the explosion and i looked up and saw the fire ball engulf the entire avenue. >> they were park aid block away when the food truck exploded. they rushed to the scene and found people walking in a daze and lying on the ground. officer don was there seconds later and the danger of another explosion. >> there was a propane hose hissing back and forth and another tank on the other side and maybe the gas tank in the

truck was still a factor in play here as well. despite the danger, officers started doing what they could to move the victimed away from the still burning truck. >> instinct kicks in and do you what has to be done and afterwards you start to think about it. 13 people were take and to the hop and five are still in critical condition, that includes the owner of the truck. and her 17-year-old daughter and her 13-year-old niece and another relative. an elderly man walking by is also in critical condition. one man was standing on the steps of his house across the street. >> i heard the fire and i ran and all i saw was the lady outside of the truck with fire coming out of her neck. >> he suffered burns on his arm and ear, there were two 100-pound propane tranks on the

truck and one started leaking and envelopes the truck in a cloud of gas, they believe it was ignited by the cooking grill. they show that the truck was properly licensed and inspected. victims feel lucky to be alive. >> i ran over there, because the fire was so intense, it just burned me, burned me bad. >> federal investigators from osha, atf and the philadelphia fire marshall are on the case and they say it may day days or even weeks until they know the exact cause of the leak. >> thank you david. the rock band styx may need to find another ride out of philadelphia, after their tour bus kautd fire today in a parking lot in northern liberties in philadelphia. this happened just afternoon. at the intersection of front of

trenton's full mayor spend the first day on the job saying thank you. mayor jackson gave their supand has a busy day ahead. tomorrow he plans to volunteer at a soup kitchen and tomorrow he will spend time with local service men and women. a local theater is forced to close its doors despite a successful season in 2013, the prince music theater in center city philadelphia is having difficulty raising money.

into the tropical moisture, looking at downpours tomorrow, tomorrow nitd and friday morning, could drop 1 to 3 inches of rain and that could cause localized flooding. 4:30 tomorrow afternoon we'll begin to see storms firing up west of philadelphia. and friday morning is not a good beach morning, real heavy downpours in delaware and new jersey and things begin to improve into the afternoon and that moisture moves away from us and we are looking at drying conditions in time for the concert and fireworks. that is good news, tropical storm arthur is close to being a hurricane. another 4 miles per hour and it's a category one hurricane, the track still takes it as a cat one hurricane to the east early friday morning and out to sea. we get the tropical moisture and
