tam is off, nydia han is here. >> everybody is worried about our 4th of july celebration. >> reporter: we have flash-flood watch the reason because of the rain we got last night and philadelphia south in the morning of the 4th there could be additional rain we want you to be ready for fast-rising waters when the overnight storms come in. you might hear rumble of thunders down the shore, but they are pushing away from you, they are dry. last night we had watch boxes we'll keep our eye on this line of precipitation as we go into the afternoon. there will be sun coming before that, probably the atmosphere will be warm and humid and cooked up, even though this doesn't look like much now as it pushes toward the east and the

evening we'll see a redevelopment of another line. 75 degrees and dry in philadelphia. it is still on the muggy side. that front is off to the west there's nothing that happened overnight that's cleared out the humidity. as we look at it today, it's going to be another hot one. 76 by noon, 89 by 3:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m. 88. i'm going for a high of 90. if we hit that that's the first heat wave. season. tropical storm arthur, the winds are up to 70 miles per hour, this will be a category one hurricane i'll have more on arthur and it's affect on the 4th july. >> the heat and thunderstorms rocked aerials in the delaware valley and left behind a lot of damage. katherine scott is live at the scene of a possible lightning strike.

katherine. >> reporter: matt, that's right. as the storm moved through there were quite a few fires. as you look at this apartment complex there's quite a bit of damage and investigators are looking to see if lightning was the cause of the fire. lightning lit up the sky as fire crews put out the flames at the apartment complex. the fire broke out at 8:20. 1 families were displaced. nobody was injured, but quite a bit of damage left hind. in burlington county officials are investigating if a lightning strike is behind a house fire in edgewater park. the fire was reported on the 200 block of bar numb street. the fire was brought under control in half-hour's time. one person was treated for minor smoke inhalation there.

in montgomery neighbors reported hearing a boom of thunder before seeing smoke coming from this neighbor's home on the 100 block of rairch hollow drive -- raven drive. the red cross is assisting the family of four. all of these fires remain under investigation. fire marshalls in different areas looking to see if lightning strikes could be behind these fires. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> residents and tourists are being ordered off the outer banks as tropical storm arthur approaches. we'll have a live report from nags head north carolina later in the newscast. >> our developing story on the delaware river. the search will resume at daylight for the 66-year-old man who disappeared in the delaware when his sale boat capsized.

he and four others were trying to dock it when storm winds flipped the boat over and sank it. the four others were able to swim to shore. they last saw a missing man cling to go a small cooler in the water. search crews found the cooler on the jersey side of the river, but not the man. we'll give you an update from police in our next half-hour. >> police believe a leak in a propane tank caused the food truck explosion. the tuesday blast sent a fireball across wyoming avenue critically injuring five people. the viewer video shows septa police coming to her aid. sheshe is in the hospital with severe burns over much of her body. they can be seen carrying her daughter out of the truck. witnesses say they smelled gas right before the explosion.

>> investigators have to determine if a woman from the time feltonville section was murdered or died of narl -- natural causes. the body was discovered inside a freezer inside a home on north lee street on tuesday, police believe she had died in january. she had lived with her son who has not been seen since that discovery. a western pennsylvania couple is accused of leaving a 2-year-old in a hot car while they drank in a bar. police arrested them on wednesday morning in pittsburgh. someone called 911 when they found the boy in the car slumped over and sweating and unresponsive. police say the windows were cracked but the temperature at the time was 80 degrees. the boy is expected to recover. a bizarre case out of fayette county. police arrested a man accused of

assaulting her ex-girl friend's husband with a sword in north union township. police say the ex-lovers were arguing over a 6-dollar walmart car. the woman's husband tried to intervene and he attacked him with a sword. the suspect was arrested. time to held to head to thg board and talk about our first look at business. facebook's second in demand is responding to the revelation that the social media site conducted a secret experiment. the two year study manipulated the news feed of hundreds of thousands of facebook users to see how emotional states are transferred to others. the june jobs report is out this morning. communist said the economic

recovery is gaining steam. stock futures are lower right now. two popular pennsylvania state colleges rank as the most expensive public universities in the county. the federal government said the university is the most expensive four year school for in-state students coming in at number two, penn state. >> the pennsylvania legislature has granted philadelphia permission to impose a cigarette sales tax to fund public schools. the house voted 119-80 is to send a cigarette tax bill back to the senate. it will help close the $93 million budget gap. it is a vick -- victory for the democratic legislator despite republican control.

11:00 p.m. don't for the most part. down the shore you will have stuff rumbling through. there's the flood watch in effect friday until noon because of the volume of thunderstorms. today's storms, afternoon and evening like yesterday. they will will be fairly numerous and they could produce drenching downpours and possible flooding on flashing streams and streets, okay. some of them could produce gusty winds, too. i'm not ruling that out. it's going to be a hot one, 77 by 8:00 a.m. 8:00 a.m., 77 degrees. 11:00 a.m., 83. high of 90 degrees. allentown, upper 80s in reading, allentown, trenton. 09 in millville, and the shore highs in the low to mid 80s.
