the 6500 block of gestuner. the a fire station and police station are around the corner, again, four children are confirmed dead a, a woman in her 40s and 11-year-old girl were taken to the peaf for smoke. a second 11-year-old girl was treated at the scene. the evacuees are being taken to the police station the 12 district. we have a crew out there to us updated on the strategy. fire broke out in a row home in west philadelphia. a neighbor said he saved the people inside. firefighters arrived to find flames shooting from the first floor. he said he smelled smoke during

a walk to the store and jumped into action. the first thing i thought, people are in there, i kicked the front door in, i pulled in the second door, i banged and got the people out. there were people on all three floors. >> the cause is undetermined. >> a car crashes into a northeast philadelphia apartment building this morning, police are looking for the driver. two apartments were severely damaged in the late-night wreck. no reports of any injuries. the 4th of july week was capped off in grand style. check out this massive fireworks display that lit up the night skies over the philadelphia museum of art. it was a fitting way to cap off a week-long celebration of america's 238th birthday. the benjamin franklin parkway was packed with hundreds of thousands of visitors for the annual philly 4th of july jasm.

and shows and postponements and cancellations. hurricane arthur dampened celebration up and down the east coast. it left behind a trail of damage where it made landfall as a category two hurricane. many residents say it could have been worse. scott goldberg has more from seaside heights ocean county. arthur flooded heys and knocked down power lines. the storm tore up the main roads and tossed around boats like bathtub toys and dumped sand do you knows on doorsteps. >> i thought this is not the place for a person to be. >> reporter: even so by first light it was clear that arthur struck only a glancing blow. >> there have been no casualties or serious injuries reported. >> reporter: this sign said what

hurricane as vacationers salvaged what was left of their holiday weekend. >> we're going to make it last. >> reporter: arthur's impact went all the way up the east coast. chilly winds and gray skies left beach goers bummed out. >> how did the water feel? >> cold. >> reporter: and dangerous rip tides. fireworks displays were put off until the 5th. tonight a weekend of hurricane arthur is strong enough to cause flash flood warnings and high wind and wave advisories on costal new england. many business owners were disappointed that the holiday got off to a dreary start, but the forecast is better and there's a lot of people here ready to spend money, scot goldberg, abc news, seaside heights, new jersey.

produce damage. we had nice weather across the delaware valley. we continue that weekend winning streak. this is 7 or 8 weekends in a row where we've seen lots of sunshine and comfortable temperatures. that's the view down in cape may. all is quiet on the sand, however, we are dealing with the pesky rip currents. pay attention to the lifeguards, we have waves 4 to 8 feet, pay attention to the lifeguards on the sand. 66 degrees, here in philadelphia. make that 65. dewpoint, 45. you can see how nicely the air has cooled off. the dewpoint temperature was actually in the 70s couple of times in the past week. that's nice and refreshing. wind out of the northwest at 12 miles per hour. pressure is starting to rise. allentown, 59. poconos 5. 62 in millville. sea isle 63. a cooler 58 in lancaster, winds anywhere from 10 to 15 miles per

hour. we'll deal with the breeze all afternoon out of the west/northwest it's a drying breeze that's what lowered the humidity levels off, but, again, it will be chilly throughout the morning hours with dewpoints always low as they are now. there's hurricane arthur pulling off to the northeast clearing toward the northwest, again, with high pressure building in from the great lake states that's means gorgeous weather for us, not only today, but for tomorrow, as well. as we look wider there's a warm front stretching across the high plains. the high will work out to sea during the course of the weekend, that will allow the warm front to punch through on monday, the heat and humidity returns starting at the start of the workweek. say goodbye to hurricane arthur, a nice pleasant breeze out of the northwest. lots of sunshine. tomorrow, we'll lose that breeze, temperatures milder, pleasant in the humidity department. here comes monday, here comes

dead in a huge fire overnight. we have been following this breaking story for this morning. in a briefing minutes ago, commissioner sawyer said four people were hurt. the inferno damaged at least 8 homes on the 6500 block of gestner. 42 people were displaced. kenneth moten will have live reports from the scene. tragedy in just a few minutes. checkers is planning to double its restaurants in the philadelphia area. the drive-in chain is hoping to expand to 40 locations by the year 2018. that would be an increase from 23 locations in our area today. checkers recently signed an agreement to open the new location in the area. lots of us take our kids to the movies on those hot summer day, but the trip can get expensive.
