until 4:00 p.m. for all the beaches from cape may to sandy hook. in particular we are worried about the rip currents and the 4 to 6 swells battering the beaches. when i come back we'll talk about that and have the the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. >> we're following a developing story, four children have been died after nearly a dozen row homes went up in flames in a three-alarm blaze overnight. kenneth moten joins us live from the scene with all the details, kenneth? >> reporter: and eva, the details are still coming in at this hour. early this morning we were able to confirm the death of the four small children. take a look at the devastating and active scene on the 6500 block of gestner street in southwest philadelphia. the fire ripped through 8 row homes and displaced 40 people. firefighters got the call around 3:00 a.m.

they were able to get here quickly, because their fire station is literally around the corner. several people were able to get out, the four children, the age also are heartbreaking, 4-year-old twin girls and 4-year-old boy and 1-month-old boy died in the fire. the mother of the twins was watching after her girls and the other children was able to jump out the building, and was treated for smoke. the woman and the children were from liberia, africa. >> it's shocking everybody. we will pray for them, it's so bad, everybody -- [crying]. >> reporter: obviously a lot of emotional people out here at this hour, two 11-year-old girls were injured who suffered smoke and were treated on the scene. as you come back here live, the

amount of grief is intense. a red cross shelter has been set up at nearby bartram high school. dozens of evacuees have checked in there so far. from the update we got from red cross, they are expecting more. the fire commissioner will give another update around noon and we'll bring that to you at 6abc.com as soon as possible, kenneth moten channel 6 "action news." >> two teens were shot overnight and police are looking for the person who pulled the trigger. the gunfire broke out around 11:00 p.m. around the 2,000 block of east atlantic street in port richmond, an 18-year-old and 15-year-old were shot in the leg, both were treated at temple university hospital. the motive is under investigation. a man was run down by a car in west oak lane and police say the female driver did it on purpose. it happened along the 7400 block

of fayette street around 9:30. the man was rushed to albert einstein medical center. police are trying to figure out exactly what set all this off. a 3-year-old crushed by a security gate that fell outside rita's water you ice will be laid to rest today. enone taber tackle church will host a public viewing for wynter larkin. philadelphia's fabulous 4th ended with a fabulous display all live on 6abc. expecting ten named storms, five of which become hurricanes and we've seen one, we're watching the el nino, this is a season where we expect hurricanes to form close to the main handle. the el nino will encounter strong sheering winds. we'll not be concerned about what's happening out here, it's close to home, because these waters in the gulf and off the carolina coast are very, very warm. you'll get a lot of spin-up type of storms, big hurricanes in here that will be steered inland across the u.s. mainland, we've seen that with arthur. it's not the big storms we see in the middle of atlantic, it

this is the scene on the 6500 block of gestner street. this fire was so intensity damaged several cars on the streets and melted the sidings on the houses across the street. le showls have been destroyed, but every home on that side of the block has been impacted. here the ages. victim, 2 four-year-old twins. a 4-year-old boy and a 1-month-old boy. the mother of the twins jumped out of the a woman and suffered smoke and is okay. we spoke with witnesses and people who know the victims' families moment ago. >> everybody bring her children to her to take care of the children. she don't care.

he saved the people inside. the action cam near 51st and chestnut. firefighters arrived torched flames shooting from the third floor. lamont boyd said he smelled smoke during a walk to the store and jumped into action. >> the first things i did was kick in the front door in and got to the second floor and banged and got the people out. >> reporter: all three floors were damaged. no word on the cause of the fire. >> a car crashed into a northeast philadelphia apartment building police are looking for the driver. who apartments were severely damaged in the late-night wreck near red lion, no injuries reported. the 4th of july week was capped off in grand style last night. check out this massive fireworks display that lit up the night skies over the philadelphia use people of art.

the hurricane is over my shoulder in the canadian maritimes battering the coast of maine. we'll see lots of bright blue and sunshine. here's the close up of what was once hurricane arthur it's post tropical storm arthur. it's losing it's tropical characteristics that's why we call it post. in the in effect a couple of hours it will be nothing other than that an ordinary low pressure system. nothing going on today, or tomorrow. it is monday afternoon when the weather pattern begins to change again. we have a warm front that will punch through as the front passes through, it will trigger showers and thunderstorms mainly west of the city. the biggest difference with this front is the air mass. nice and pleasant today, high temperatures in the 80s, we'll see dewpoints in the 40s and 50s
