philadelphia is in mourning and asking questions tonight after flames destroyed homes and claims lives of four children. saturday night, i'm walter perez. the big story on "action news" tonight is the investigation into a fast-moving and deadly fire. as we told you, four young children were trappeded in and could not be saved. 28 people are homeless. annie mccormick is back on the scene on the 6500 block of guestner street and what's the latest on the investigation here annie? >> reporter: walter, this fire was so intense it took out nearly this entire city block. witnesses say the woman able to jump to safety lost two of her own children and she desperately tried to get back inside. >> i want to die. >> family members broke down near the scene of the deadly four alarm blaze that killed four children. it sfreed four more. trapping two brothers 1 and 4

and 4-year-old twin girls identified by family as marie and maria boa. the twins father remembered his girls who loved surprised school and music. >> my little girl they love to play i mean they love to read. >> he says the girls' mother was inside at the time. fire and jumped to safety and family members say they tried get back in. >> the fire was everywhere. she took older kids and put them through the window. >> fire officials believe it began on a front porch and spread. there were two working smoke detectors inside. firefighters nearby responded in three minutes. >> they did an excellent job and did their best and gave it all they had. the members of that station right now are heartbroken. >> mayor nutter toured the damage and spoke to the victims, including people displaced. while outside officials boarded up the homes and neighbors from the tight nit liberian community

dropped off balloons and teddy bears near the site. >> i can only play their pain was not long and that they do not truly feel and experience the intensity of this fire. >> and fire officials say they're still investigating a cause. more than 30 people are out of their homes tonight. red cross is assisting them. many of them are staying at the red cross the house and red cross says as always they're in need of financial and clothing donations. reporting live now in southwest philadelphia, annie mccormick, "channel 6 action news." walter. >> thank you, annie. two men were killed during a head on collision in wilmington, delaware this afternoon. state police skourd the crash scene marsh road and chestnut. a 53-year-old driver was fleeing the scene of another crash across the center median and hit a car driven by a 68-year-old

man. both men were pronounced dead at christianne hospital. troopers tell us neither victim was wearing a seatbelt. marsh between nayman as and harvey was closed three hours. police arrested a man driving while intoxicated with two kids nadz the car. officers located the car route 30 garden state park we and arrested 30-year-old paul d e ce ino of mays landing. concerned driver called 911 about a car driving erratically. he's held on $10,000 bail for child endangerment. d wi. heroin possession and reckless drivingch the 4 and 5-year-old inside the vehicle were returned unharmed to their mother. a teenager from glen mills, delaware county is recovering tonight after being involved in a terrible hit-and-run while visiting wildwood. it happened 200 block rio grande avenue 3:00 this morning, 15-year-old kody bragndy was crossing the road when he was

hit by a dark colored sedan. he was transferred to children's hospital of philadelphia. he remains in icu with head injuries. they tried to warn kody about the car speeding towards him. >> we were yelling his name kody! yelling for him. he would like -- he like got kind of sombified and rolled over and it was really bad. >> suspect's passenger side mirror was recovered at the scene. anyone with information is asked to please contact wildwood police. >> we turn now to accuweather forecast and with a little cooperation from mother nature we're basking in glow of truly spectacular weekend. it was a beautiful, clear night as families gathered to see the fire works in upper darby. it was postponed yesterday because of drizzle. apart from moisture it is one fantastic holiday weekend. meteorologist sct in for melissa. first check of the accuweather forecast, hey, ces.

weather is great. great crowds at the shore and looking forward to the fireworks. >> speaking of those fireworks it was impressive over sand and sea. perfect toned perfect saturday on 4th of july weekend. >> meantime the holiday weekend festivities were in full swaing long the camden water front today. thousands enjoyed, food, fun and family during the freedom festival. there were mreptstive games for the kids and shade for adults that needed a break. plus a beatles cover band held a free concert. and the local girl who served as inspiration for national or organ transplant policy change celebrated american independence today. sarah murnaghan served as grand marshall in newtown square. the 11-year-old is doing well thanks to a lung transplant that her family fought for in court. she road on the back of a convertible as you see there leading a caravan of festive float through her hometown
