trapping brothers and 4-year-old twin girls. the twins father remembered his girls who loved sunday school and music. >> my little girl loved to play and they loved to read. they love art and sing. he said the girl's mother was inside at the time of the fire and jumped to safety. family members say she tried to get back in. >> she is a mother, everybody bring their children to her to take care of the children. >> reporter: fire officials believe it began on the front porch and spread. there were two working smoke detecters inside. firefighters responded in 3 minutes. >> the members of the fire station are heart broken. >> reporter: mayor nutter spoke to the victims including people displaced. outside officials boarded up the home and neighbors dropped off balloons and teddy bears near the site. >> pray for their souls and may

a memorial is growing at the site of the three-alarm blaze on the 6500 block of gestner street. the fierce flames engulfed four homes and spread to four more. after a woman jumped to safety she realized her twin girls were trapped inside. she couldn't get back inside to save had your 4-year-olds. 1-month-old boy and 4-year-old brother died in the fire. mayor nutter visited with the victims' families. >> i can only pray that their pain was not long, that they did not truly feel and experience the intensity of this fire. >> firefighters think the flames may have started on the front porch of one of the homes. the commissioner said crews visited the property last year and installed two smoke alarms.

yesterday he made an urgent plea to residents to plan, and practice their own family escape plan in case of fire. cleanup continues at the site of this house fire in trenton, new jersey. the action cam found crews sifting through the second floor damage on the 400 block of grand street this morning. the two-alarm fire spread to a pair of adjacent homes after 7:00 a.m. there are no reports of any injuries, the cause is under investigation. police in delaware say two men were killed after a driver who was speeding from the scene of one crash then collided head on with another car. it happened at mark road and chestnut street yesterday. state police say 53-year-old was speeding away from the crash on naamans road when he hit the center line and traveled into the path of another car.

more than clothing on their back. amy buckman is outside christ international baptist church where doe facings are going to help victims of the fire. >> reporter: you can see on the front steps of the church many goods donated by the folks in the neighborhood and beyond is just around the corner from where the tragic fire curled. there will be a service when people will come together to mourn the deaths of the four young children and try to begin the healing process. more than 24 hours after the fire that ripped through 8 homes on the 6500 block of gestner street. this tightly knight -- tightly knit community is in palin. they are mourning -- is in pain,

they are mourning twin girls and two brothers. >> my little girls, they loved art and sing. >> reporter: it is not just the family who are shaken. members of the fire department who arrived on the scene within 3 minutes of getting the call are at a loss. >> they gave all they had. the members of that station are heart broken. >> reporter: 18 fire victims are staying at the red cross and they are helping another ten with financial assistance. while the church is expecting physical donations of food, blankets, toys and clothing and other necessities, the red cross that will be taking financial donations for folks who want to help. live in southwest philadelphia. i'm amy buckman channel 6 "action news." nydia? >> looks like the donations are pouring in. we've been keeping up up to date on the story on our 6abc news

app and 6abc.com there we have information to help those affected by the deadly fire. a violent confrontation and housing authors officer and four men in a car. the officer opened fire on this white dodge charge after the driver tried to hit the officer with the does an. this started at 8th and south when the car was holding up traffic. the housing authority officer told the car to get moving. that's when police say a passenger got out and aimed a gun at the officer and took off running. the driver and three other men in the car were arrested after police tracked down the vehicle. it is surge is on for a serial burglar in south jersey, police say someone broke into four business in the edgewater park burlington county overnight. the first happened at the dai

repair shop. a car place next-door and tire store and nearby restaurant. it is unclear what the thieves got away with. police plan to check surveillance cameras in the area to identify suspects. two people were rushed to the hospital after a crash on the lincoln drive near rittenhouse street in fairmont park last night. police say a car and suv collided. two people were taken to temple university hospital for treatment. galloway township police have arrested a man from atlantic county for allegedly driving while intoxicated with two kids in the car. he arrested on route 30 at the garden state parkway. a concerned driver called 911 about a car driving erratically. he is being held for child endangerment, dui and heroin possession and reckless drive.

the children were returned to their mom unharmed. governor corbett received the no new taxes bill on tuesday, he has ten days to sign it veto the entire thing or veto certain parts. his secretary sailed the governor is considering whether the spending plan takes too many risks to balance the budget and whether it's acceptable for some sort of relief from rising pension costs. businesses along the jersey shore are looking to recoup their losses after rain and rough surf on friday. live look at cape may, it's a gorgeous day on the beach. go out and enjoy it. businesses at the shore are feeling the pinch from hurricane arthur's winds and rains on friday. but the holiday weekend was not a complete washout. >> we came down this morning

arthur have left hind flooding -- behind flooding, down trees and damage in nova scotia. arthur brought winds of nearly 70 miles per hour, knock out power for 200,000 people. it caused flight cancellations and delays at the airport in halifax. thousands of homes in new england are in the dark because of arthur. officials in nantucket opened a shelter for one thousand people who missed the last boat leaving the island. the rain is gone, but water advisory remain in effect for small boats and swirnls along the shore -- swimmers along the shore. those advisory are for our area, as well. >> reporter: the small craft advisory is in effect today, as well. when arrest -- arthur was in the

southern atlantic, the ocean temperatures were in the high 70s, once it got up here it was in the 50s. the water has warmed up a little bit, but it's cooler than it was prior to arthur passing on by. that's the view, cape may, temperatures are climbing in the mid 70s. 77 degrees in philadelphia. dewpoint, 55. winds picking up out of west at 16 miles per hour gusting to 20. pressure reading 20.11 inches. 74 in quakertown. pilots, 76. chester up to 80 degrees. glassboro, 80. hammonton, 76. gandys beach 78 degrees and 76 right there in sea isle city. the good news, the dewpoints are low, so it's nice and comfortable, as long as we stay under the 60-degree mark we're
