>> breaking now on "action news," a heavy police presence on the scene of a deadly shooting in bucks county. and so are we. >> angry protesters point the finger at the city for a deadly fire. now philadelphia officials are firing back. >> a rollercoaster derails with riders on board. we have brand new video and reaction to their rescue. good morning everyone, 5:30 on this tuesday july 8th. tam is off, erin o'hearn joins us. karen is off, matt pelman here is along with david. good morning. >> good morning everybody. off to a fairly clear start although there's a lot of stuff happening and popping up to our north and west. looks like we'll get early sun, clouds like yesterday will that occasionally mix in and then we're keeping our eyes on a cold front that's off to the north that triggered some severe weather off to our north in new york state and northeastern pennsylvania yesterday. later on tonight we could get a round of thunderstorms coming through ahead of that approaching front. temperatures right now are warm, 76 degrees in philadelphia. still 68 in allentown but 76 in reading, 74 in wilmington and trenton, 75 in millville.

low 70's down the shore at this early hour. and as we head outside we are looking at fairly warm conditions. temperatures ranging from the mid to upper 70's between 6:00 and 8 o'clock, mainly clear skies to start out. and as we go through the day it gets hotter. by 9 o'clock, 80. 88 by noon. this is the time to get your exercising in certainly and then we're in the 90's the rest of the way. by 3 o'clock 93. a high of 94 today probably around 4 o'clock and 90 by 6 o'clock. the later we go through the day the better chance we have a pop-up shower and i think there could be some occasionally strong stuff later tonight. matt i'll have more thon coming un, okay. >> i'm watching for the runners taking your advice out here early this morning along the mlk west river drive, day. i'm not seeing them so come on people, get out there and start running. cars are running well on the schuylkill expressway here approaching spring garden street. eastbound go the taillights headed in towards center city. no delays in either direction. the road is dry. we don't have a whole lot of complaints so far this morning. i hesitate to say that but at

this point things are looking good. overnight construction on 95 southbound between allegheny and girard is cleared. as is the crash on the ramp from 95 southbound to broad street. and they also cleared out the construction that was on the ramps connectorring the turnpike with norristown. had some stoppages there overnight that have now wrapped up. there is still a broken down truck in plymouth meeting along ridge pike at colwell lane there by conicelli but that's off to the side. no need to worry about it. on the eastbound turnpike near willow grove overnight construction cleared. still some work on the northeast extension northbound past quakertown knocking out the right lane. matt. >> thank you matt. let's begin with breaking news. we're following in bucks county where police are investigating a triple shooting that left one man dead. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live on the scene in bristol township with more on this katherine. >> reporter: police are waiting for a search war rant. the weapon hasn't been recovered. one man has been pronounced dead on the scene, two more people were taken to the

hospital with gun shot wounds. police have not confirmed their conditions at this time and you can see that this scene remains closed off. again as i mentioned they are waiting for a search warrant to go inside the home. police were called here to the home on the 900 block of winder drive around 12:45 this morning and when they arrived they found one person was dead inside the home another was injured. the other injured man was able to go to a neighbor's home to call 911 and police say that was the only 911 call to come in about this. multiple shots were fired inside the home but the circumstances of that shooting, what was happening before those shots were fired, this all remains under investigation this morning. >> right now bucks county detectives are processing the scene. we do have detectives that are interviewing so we're just trying get as much information gathered as possible to try to get some leads on this shooting. >> reporter: police say this house has been known as a problem home by neighbors but they didn't elaborate on that. police say they have no known

suspects on this. you can see this remains an active scene here in bristol township. this all remains under investigation this morning. we're live in bristol township, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> thank you, katherine. there is calm in southwest philadelphia this morning following a night of anger and axe accusations over firefighters' response time to a deadly weekend blaze. police stood between protesters and the focus of their anger, ladder four, engine 40. the firehouse is around the corner from where four children died. demonstrators claimed firefighters delayed their response to the blaze. but fire commissioner derrick sawyer told the community yesterday that once firefighters got the call of the house fire, they responded within three minutes. sawyer said firefighters are crushed over the children's deaths. >> their hearts are broken. it's no way, no how that these members were not respond -- would not respond in a timely manner to save life. >> mayor michael nutter says firefighters are not to blame for the deaths. officials say they plan to

release the 911 calls connected to the saturday morning fire. we will bring that to you as soon as we get them. and we have more information about the deadly fire on our free 6abc news app including information for anyone interested in helping the families that lost their homes. >> 5:35 now. new this morning, philadelphia police are searching for the shooter who gunned down a man in a minivan. it happened in the city's parkside section late last night. police say the gunman fired 12 shots at the 21-year-old victim from point blank range in the 1600 block of south wilton street. detectives are still working on a motive but say the victim has had prior encounters with the law. for the first time this morning we are hearing from the riders aboard a stuck rollercoaster at the six flags in california. about two dozen people dangled 20 feet in the air when the ninja ride derailed last night. rescue crews lowered every one

to safety. four people in the front car have minor injuries. young witnesses near the scene heard screaming. >> it sounded like they were like panicking. >> yeah. >> 'cause they didn't know what to do. >> they were just confused and scared and they didn't really know what was going on. >> a park spokeswoman says a branch that fell on the tracks is responsible for the coaster derailment. the park remained opened and the other rides were in operation during the rescue efforts. >> happening today, the pennsylvania state senate will vote on a bill that would allow philadelphia to hike cigarette taxes to raise money for public schools. the two dollars per pack increase would help close the district's $93 million budget gap by more than half. last week the statehouse approved the same bill sending it back to the senate for final approval. the senate has already approved the measure once before. >> a pennsylvania house committee is meeting today to find out why a water treatment plant had so many problems in may. 18,000 montgomery county households in six townships

had to boil their water for four days and it forced 150 restaurants to close during that time. among those testifying at this morning's public hearing at the west norriton township building will be officials from pennsylvania american water, the company there had the problems. >> david's here to talk about the heat and the threat of thundershowers. >> yes, absolutely. storm tracker 6 live double scan matt and erin shows you we're dry for now which is good. as we take a look outside sky 6 has been shopping us brightening conditions we have a fair amount of sunshine coming up over the horizon early and then we'll get into more of a partly sunny sky later on. 76 degrees is the current temperature in philadelphia, dewpoint in the mid 60's so that's somewhat humid air, not oppressive. winds out of the south at just 6 miles per hour. future tracker 6 showing between now and noon there could be a couple pop-up showers maybe a rumble of thunder but i don't think you'll see a lot of that until later on tonight when we get a cold front coming closers to and a line of showers pops in. the best chance of

thunderstorm activity would be from areas close to i-95 off into the north and west later this evening. this happens to be the 11:30 at night view but really any time after we get into the evening hours there will be a chance of this and any storms that form tonight could feature gusty winds, heavy downpours, lots of lightning and maybe even a little hail so that would be something to keep in mind later tonight as we look at where temperatures are going, 77 degrees by 8 o'clock, by 11:00, yes, sir spend the afternoon in the 90's, our high of 94 hitting probably 3:30 in the afternoon temperatures across the region, the lehigh valley going to 91, if you're down the shore mid to upper 80's is where you'll winds up. humid and again the chance of thunderstorms but most probably holding off until nighttime. tomorrow looks kind of unsettled. that cold front that's coming in that triggers the thunderstorm activity north and west across the region tonight comes a little bit farther south and if we do see thunderstorms tomorrow i think they'll probably be centered more south and east of philadelphia but there could

be a little bit of something popping up just about anywhere tomorrow, somewhat unsettled. 94 hot and humid today. tomorrow warm and humid, 89 degrees and like today, we've got another round of late day or night time thunderstorms possible, at least in some spots. but thursday things get better, clouds and sun, a high of 86. while we're posting a slight chance of a spotty afternoon thunderstorms butter things are getting better because this frontal boundary is passing down to our south on thursday. behind that on friday, the pick of the week, sunny and nice on friday, a high of 85 degrees. phillies back in town for three games before the all-star break and that will be a nice night for baseball. saturday a mix of clouds and sun 87. we start to get more humid during the day. there's the chance of a spotty thunderstorm around but by no means is saturday a washout. 6abc night at ppl park for the union. i'll see you down there. sunday 88 degrees warm and humid and another spotty thunderstorm is possible. >> thanks, david. >> thanks, david. >> next israel ramps up its group overnight amid fears an

>> ♪ >> hello everyone. it is tuesday morning, 5:42. live picture cape may new jersey heading up to a high of 94 in philadelphia today, much cooler at the shore. look out for thundershowers later. >> look out at what's happening on the roads this morning, matt pelman. >> i don't want to take us back to a bad place because for some of us the memories are all too fresh but let's talk about the winter, matt and erin and you remember how over the course of the winter we had so many potholes on these ramps that connect 202 and 422 with the schuylkill expressway. well, they have decided it is now time to really once and for all at least for awhile take care of the potholes so they're working on repaving these ramps. overnights this week you'll see restrictions here on the ramp that connects 202 northbound and 422 eastbound to the eastbound side of the schuylkill expressway. crews are not out there right now but they'll return tonight at 8 o'clock and hopefully create a nice smooth ride that

is not impeded too much by next winter. meanwhile let's talk more construction and some disabled vehicles. we're expecting lots of disabled vehicles today in the high temperature. there's one right now pottstown along south keim street at 724 which is schuylkill road. here's one of those new work zones that starts today and is lasting all week from 9 o'clock until 4 o'clock they're closing 113 main street in trappe between ridge pike and 29. you can use 29 or seventh avenue as in some alternates. in falls township bucks county old route 13 closes entirely starting today for the next couple weeks between penn valley road and mill creek parkway. they have been doing work that the that area because of derated drainage pipes. today they close the road entirely. maybe stick with new route 13 instead of old route 13. at least you have options there in bucks county. time for the commuter report brought to you by the waze app.

let's see what our friends in the suburbs a talking about. how about the 30 pipes in chester county. let's go down into delaware county, that i know are looking good so far this morning along 202 baltimore pike. you see a couple of friends out and about but no one is reporting any problems at this point. matt. >> that is good. thank you, matt. breaking overnight israel has launched a military offensive against hamas. israeli leaders say it has hit the gaza strip 50 times to try to suppress rocket attacks since israel. the violence follows the abduction and murders of both israeli and palestinian teens. president obama wrote an editorial which was published in an israeli paper calling for both sides to put an end to the acts of retribution. investigators in georgia want to review the medical records of the toddler who died in his father's sweltering suv. 22 month old cooper harris died on june 18th. boy's father justin ross harris is charged with murder. police are reviewing computer drives and other electronic devices recovered from harris' vehicle.

both harris and his wife have admitted to researching hot car deaths online but say it was not with criminal intent. and happening today, president obama plans to ask congress for $2 billion in emergency spending to deal with the u.s.-mexican border crisis. unaccompanied migrant children from central america have been crossing the border by the thousands leading to protests in california where many end up. the obama administration is calling it a humanitarian crisis. the white house is requesting more money for immigration judges detention facilities and he'll aid. >> a philadelphia community came together to remember the teenage here drowned in ocean city last week. friends and family of corinthian hammond gathered at the grover school in the olney section of the city to mourn the 14-year-old who everyone knew as corey. the family has start add memorial fund to raise money for a funeral. hammond's drowning is prompting extended lifeguard hours in ocean city. the beaches at eighth, ninth

>> new here on "action news," there may be no crying in baseball but a sleepy yankees fan is lining in court. andrew rector filed a $10 million lawsuit against 2espn announcers. he says they mocked him when he was caught on national television sleeping in his seat during a game at yankees stadium in april. he says commentators dan schulman and former philly john kruk called him fat and stupid and he named major league baseball and the yankees as defendants. >> in his defense the yankees haven't been playing that well. [laughter] >> we're all a little sleepy and people mock us all the time. >> that's right, yeah. >> outside this morning we'll work on that here in plymouth meeting things are looking good along the blue route 476 headed towards the mid county tolls. if you want to head up the northeast extension no huge problems like yesterday morning. just a little northbound construction up around quakertown but on the blue route portion of 476 all is fine so far. here in voorhees township that that white horse road bridge

the comedian injured in the car crash that hurt tracy morgan. both men suffered critical injuries in that june 7th crash that took the life of their friend james mcnair. the surviving comedians are out of the hospital and in rehab facilities. truck driver kevin roper is favoring charges of vehicular homicide and assault by vehicle. an accident involving fireworks cost a meteorologist his eye. dave rexroth is chief meteorologist at the abc station in detroit remains in the hospital. he was vacationing in iowa city iowa during the holiday weekend when the accident happened. rexroth will undergo surgery tomorrow. eventually he'll receive a prosthetic eye. details on the accident were not released. >> a vacationer took video of some beach thieves caught in the act in florida. >> you need some help? >> do you know how to do it? >> yes. this is our stuff.
