says a huge wild fire that destroyed dozens of homes was set on purpose. those flames destroyed 36 homes in san diego, the police say that the person that started the fire is underage, they have not released details about their investigation and it took 500 firefighters to get those flames under control. >> a family rescued at sea that was strand after a trip around the world is telling their incredible story. they planned their trip from mexico to new zealand with their two young daughters, 18 days in they ended up strabded in the pacific. they were 900 miles offshore and their 1-year-old daughter got sick and needed a doctor. a plane came and parachuted to the family. >> we are both experienced sailors and we raised our daughters on a sailboat and we

were very prepared and knew what we are were doing. >> they plan to sue their satellite carrier, because they say it cut off their connection while they were stranded. they say any money will be used to pay back taxpayers for their rescue. the dow dropped 70 points and the nasdaq down 23 points and the s&p 8 points lower. fewer americans applied for unemployment benefits last week, the labor department says it fell to 304,000, the lowest number in seven years, applications is a sign of layoffs, the numbers show that employers are laying off less employees. companies could step up hiring in the next few months. boeing says it expects the demand for new aircraft to rise.

sitting in the southern part of our viewing area near harrington and west of milford, there is a flash flood warning until 8:00 tonight, it does not include dover, it's far south but high water on the roadways down there and streams running on the far side. that is the only area seeing the rain, 86 in philadelphia and 84 in wilmington and cooler here at the shore, with temperatures own in the low 70s. as we look at satellite 6 along with action radar, we add the heavy rain in northern parts of atlantic county, that was 4 inks of rain in ocean city. that is firing up west of dover and that area is slowly drifting and through 7:00 tonight, even though we have a flash flood watch out for the southern part of our area, it will be very spotty if anything really develops and that is the case through 11:00 tonight. can you see it on storm tracker, most areas are dry just a few pop-ups here and there, and if

from 4 to 39. haskell killed his sister-in-law and her husband and their children. the 14-year-old that survived the shooting is now in the hospital. hundreds of philadelphia school district employees are out a job today, officials confirm to "action news" that 324 people got pink slips today or will get them tomorrow. most of the workers are noon time aids and special education classroom assistants, the district maintains that the move is not related to the stalled cigarette tax bill that provide $45 million in state funding, if that tax is not enacted by august 15th, 1300 jobs could be in jeopardy. >> a lightning strike hit two homes this morning and set them on fire. in galloway township, just before 2:00 a.m.

crews were able to get both fires under control quickly and nobody was hurt. a berks county woman is arrested for allegedly stealing more than $61,000 from a youth sports league. prosecutors say that kelly prince miller used her role as treasurer to withdraw money from the athletic association account. miller is free on $40,000 bail. two fall and firefighters were remembered today just blocks from where they died in the line of dutdy a little more than two years ago, the huge mural bearing the likenesses of murray and sweeney were unveiled on arizona street in kensington this morning. the two men died while fighting a fire on april 9th of 2012, that mural honors their service

and commitment. the teenager accused of running a drug ring, dubbed the main line takeover project appeared in court this morning. timothy brooks left court in ardmore after waiving his preliminary hearing, he is charged with recruiting sub dealers to sell drugs at several local high schools and colleges. his arraignments is set for the end of the month. flds police are investigating a possible shootout on the passyunk bridge this morning. chopper 6 hd was over the scene when officers canvassed the lane. they heard gunshots shortly after 5:00 a.m. and investigators ended up finding 10 shell casings on the bridge. the bridge was reopened by 6:00 this morning. >> a lehigh valley college student was talking about the moment he rushed into the waters

. we are back with breaking news in the olney section, a nasty wreck on roosevelt boulevard at f street right now, this crash happened at 4:20 and you can see the cars involved there, one of them off the road in the southbound lanes, one or two of the others still stuck there. looks like a minivan and a black sedan behind it and the other car off the road, we are told that two people are injured right now, one is transported i am told to einstein medics. and police are there attempting to direct traffic around this. we are approaching the rush hour

with jaime apody, meteorologist, cecily tynan, rick williams and monica malpass. it is thursday night and nd rick is off and sharrie williams joins us and the big story on "action news" tonight is the flooding concern for part of our region. >> people down at the jersey shore spent the day dealing with flooded streets in ocean city several vehicles got stuck in the flash floods, and several inches of rain fell in parts of atlanticic and cape may coins this morning. >> lets check in with cecily tynan and the latest from accuweather on the flash flood watch. >> i want to show you what the radar looked like at 7:30 this morning, this was very localized. it was over northeastern cape may and southeastern atlanticic county, at 7:30, we had one intense cell and downpours, what happened is known as the training effect, you get storms

over the same area over and over again. at 9:00 one and 10:30 and finally around noon it began to taper off but by then we are looking at a tremendous amount of rain in a short amount of time. bear in mine, atlantic city, the entire month of july, they get a little more than 3 inches of rain but west of the garden state parkway, 7 inches of rain in ocean city and i had pictures send in from my facebook page, this is sent in by lanie, this is 32nd and haven avenue you can see the water up to the top of the tires on the car and the same area they had to put up barricades, some folks were kayaking on the street with all of this rain. stormtracker 6 live double scan showing right now more rain is on the way, the same area that already got all the heavy rain. the national weather service has posted flash flood w
