cars that were lost this morning because of the intensity of the rain and how quickly it fell. >> lets get the latest from double scan radar and cecily tynan. >> we are getting heavy downpours tonight in the same area that got them this morning. stormtracker 6 live double scan, showing there are a few spotty storms in the lehigh valley, but really the focus of heavy rain is from atlantic city to milford delaware and all areas to the south and because of the rain not only now and this morning, the national weather service posted flash flood watches until midnight for atlantic and cape may and cumberland and salem and kent county delaware, the potential for more heavy downpours could bring more flash flooding. satellite 6 along with action radar shows that what is happening this morning is the training effect. these storms moved like a train on a train track over the same area over and over again. at 7:00 we had the heavy cell in

service to 5600 customers at that hour down from 260,000 at the height of the storm, they made the most progress. it happened today on the 2300 block of ridge avenue in north philadelphia, a gunman tried to rob a pharmaceutical deliveryman making his rounds at a local delivery store, the scene was outside, two daycare centers, david henry is live at the scene of the shooting, david have you the details. >> reporter: jim the bullet fired out here in broad daylight could have hit anyone including two children, the delivery van pulled up and parked down at that corner. what the driver didn't know at the time was that he was being followed and would soon be staring down the barrel of a gun. >> it was all caught on video surveillance. the white delivery van pulls up followed by a green sedan and a passenger gets out of the car,

the driver pulls on to a side street and parked around the corner, he gets out and walks back towards the pharmacy, the two workman down the block are startled by the sound of a gunshot and start backing up and the driver of the car apparently reacting to the shot hustles back to the car and gets back in and then speeds off. his partner allegedly shot the deliveryman in the hand in a botched robbery attempt and ran off. moments before two employees of a nearby daycare center, can be seen turning the corner with two buggies. >> we have over 100 children in this building and it's stressful we need to keep these children safe and things break out at any moment. >> the day care on the side of pharmacy immediately went into lock doub. the wounded deliveryman ran into the pharmacy calling for an ambulance.

>> i'm in shock, you don't expect stuff like that to happen. an ordinary day. >> the man was rushed to the hospital for a hand wound and he this believe the robbers were casing the pharmacy and the van was filled with valuable drugs, just one oxycodone pill can fetch $80 on the street depending on the dosage. pharmacy employees say this is the first instacident since opeg in march and are happy the deliveryman was not badly injured. >> he is nice and quiet, and someone is low and petty to shoot him. >> they are lucky nobody else got shot, including the day care workers and children that turned the corner just seconds after the shot was fired right over there. david henry, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you david.

philadelphia police are still looking for the man who attacked and robbed a 91-year-old woman inside of her home in cobbs creek, audrey washington arrived at her carpenter street house to find two men inside and they punched her and stole the rings off her fingers. she is bruised and sore and otherwise okay the men got away with a television. investigators are checking servers cameras looking for the prn that fired ten shots on passyunk avenue, chopper 6 hd was on the scene as investigators tried to piece together what happened. a security guard at the refinery heard shots and called police, the shooter is still on the loose. >> more than 300 philadelphia school district employees are receiving layoff notices starting today. the layoffs will impact noon time aides and special education

classroom assist antss, no teachers receive notices yet. district employees are notified today and tomorrow and they become affect july 31st. the federation of teachers call the cuts a contrast tragedy and they are work to restore the positions. superintendant william hite says there will be more layoffs if the tax is not enacted before july 17th. mayor nutter used his line ilt emveto democrats criticized the governor for lacking leadership and scapegoating teachers and the governor's speech had a campaign style tonight as he called on lawmakers to sacrifice with the rest of the state. corbett is currently seeking

a ten car pileup in philadelphia this morning, the state police and philadelphia police responded to this crash at the cotman exit. it happened at crews spent two hours clearing the scene, there were no reports of injuries. a corporation plans to put new roots down in camden where hol tech international will make its new home. the 600,000 square foot design will create 400 jobs for the area. it was awarded $6 million in tax breaks over the next 10 years, the new jersey department of

transportation conducted a hurricane evacuation drill today. to test the mobilization response time and the preparation of roadway flow plans, being able to quickly reverse the direction of traffic is important to maximize the capacity of the road during any emergency. a staple of the philadelphia museum of art got a -- the statue of diana, it's a feature of the museum since the 1930s, they are thrilled that the sculpture is once again glowing in the great hall. it's called tech girls, an organization encouraging girls to take on leadership positions in technology industries where they are traditionally underrepresented. they are holding their entrepreneurial camp at their university.

parts of the jersey shore got pummeled this morning. there are still flood watches out there. >> this front has stalled and stormtracker 6 live double scan showing where in philadelphia it's beautiful right now and we have a band of rain draped across the shore into southern delaware and some of it is pretty heavy. fortunately ocean city that got the flooding this morn, the heaviest rain is south of ocean city, cape may and sea isle city and west of milford is beginning to dry out. there is the dry line, this is slowly moving to the east and we have pockets of real heavy rain in cape may, all the shore towns from sea isle city to cape may. it will gradually dry out over the next several hours. but these are slow moving downpours, be patient it will take a while. the national weather service

issued a flood watch for southern new jersey and delaware for the potential for more flash flooding and downpours. i always say turn around don't drown, if you see the flooding don't try to drive into it, your car can stall out quickly. temperatures are comfortable, 84 degrees, our high is 87, the average high for this time of year. trenton 83 and wilmington 82 and a rain cooled, 68 degrees and millville 73, satellite 6 along with action radar showing this stalled offshore, we see the focus of the moisture around philadelphia, some of the clouds to the south of this system that slowly begins to move to the south and east. the high pressure takes control and friday is brighter north and west of philadelphia, closer to the high pressure 86 degrees with the front close enough, the stray shower is possible south and east along the shore points,

as we head into saturday, the high pressure muscles in and nice weather, not oppressively humid 83 degrees and good amount of sunshine and we increase the humidity on sunday and saturday is the pick of the weekend. if are you down the shore tonight, more heavy downpours for the next couple of hours tomorrow, a stray thunderstorm is possible and not completely dry and not a washout, saturday loads of sunshine and 78 degrees, sunday is looking nice on the beaches and partly sunny and a high of 78 degrees, if you are heading to the poconos, the possibility of thunderstorms tomorrow and 79 degrees, saturday a mixture of sun and clouds and sunday more humid and thunderstorms possible late in the day with a high of 78 degrees, even the mountains saturday will be nicer than sunday. partly cloudy skies in philadelphia and soggy at the shore for the next couple of hours, 61 is the low and the
