tribute from the only survivor of the shooting rampage in texas. three days since investigators say cassidy stays parents and sibling where is killed by her uncle in law and today the teenager honored her loved ones in a very special way. "action news" reporter kenneth moton is live from the satellite center with more on that story, kenneth. >> reporter: let me remine thaw cassidy stays pretended to be dead after she and her family members, were shot. police say that her actions saved lives and today, she was back at the school of her brothers and sisters attendance for that special memorial services. >> ♪ >> reporter: standing strong and surrounded by so many loved ones in her muse ton community 15 year-old cassidy stay publicly remembered her parents and sibling, who were gunned down, just days ago. >> i'm really thankful for all of the people that have been praying for me and keeping me and my family in their thoughts. >> reporter: investigators say wednesday, three three-year old ron haskill executed his

ex-wife sister katie stay, her husband steven and their four children because they wouldn't tell him where to find his ex. daughter cassidy was the lone survivor taking a bullet grazed wound to the head but she was able to lead officers to haskill whom police say was on his way to kill his grand parents. >> difficult to imagine how we will ever move on, but that is how we think is to best to concentrate on the living. cling to the hope of life, that emerged in this terrible darkness, to all of the lives that were spared, including our own, meanwhile. >> reporter: meanwhile in the houston courtroom haskill collapsed twice as he heard capital murder charges against him . the his defense attorney cited mental illness and lack of medication. reasons for the the deadly rampage that took away this teen's family. >> i know that my mom, dad, brian, emilie, becca and zach are in a much better place, and that i'll be able to see them again some day. thank you all for coming and shoaling your support for me

and my family. stay strong. >> reporter: cassidy offered thanks first responders, her nurses and her doctors. she says she's on the road to recovery, walter, brave girl. reporting live from the satellite center this evening, kenneth moton for channel six "action news". >> her strength is incredible, thanks kenneth. much more on this story coming up on world news with david muir tonight at 6:30 directly after "action news". two philadelphia police officers found themselves, putting their lives on the line, this morning by rescuing two women from the burning home. fire broke out just after 2:30 inside a home in the mantua section of the city. the officers from the 16th district saw the blaze and ran in, to help, in the burning home to help out. inside they found two women and brought them out to safety. two other adults were able to escape on their own. we're told a fire fighter was injured but expected to be just fine no word on how the fire started. comedian tracie morgan has been released from a rehab facility about a month after he was nearly kill in the car

crash. a spokesmen for morgan says the star will continue his recovery at home with an aggressive outpatient program. morgan suffered a broken leg and broken ribs in his limousine van when it was hit by a wal-mart truck on the new jersey turnpike back in june. that wreck killed six two-year old comedian james mcnair also known as jimmy mack. morgan's attorneys have already filed a negligence lawsuit begins wal-mart. "action news" has confirmed that president obama will be visiting delaware next week. governor jack markell's office says mr. obama will be in the first state on thursday. we will keep you updated concerning the details of his visit, once that information is available. well, more than a thousand trump plaza employees are expected to receive notices on monday that they could soon be out of the job. news came yesterday, that the casino will likely close its doors by the end of september. just the latest blow to atlantic city's casino industry. the atlantic club closed in january and show boat is closing next month. all while the managers of the

revel casino hotel are still looking for a buyer. welshing moving on to the accu weather forecast. you just knew it was just a matter of time before humidity made a come back. fact of the matter is sticky conditions will return during the second half of the weekend. meteorologist melissa magee joins oust i had side on the patio with the the first check of the accu weather forecast. >> hey there, walter not a bad start to the weekend with plenty of sunshine. from the start of the weekend at least we have low humidity but these temperatures are coming up. temperatures today for the the most part in the 70's and 80's. philadelphia right now 87. trenton 83. along the coast from beach haven down to sea isle city with the southerly wind and that afternoon sea breeze kicking in. so temperatures there holding at 74. reading 78. poconos 76 degrees. the let's talk about the dew points, that is level of how much moisture in the atmosphere throughout much of the the day-to-day, which was very comfortable with low dew point temperatures. right now you can see we have a dew point temperature of 07 in reading. sixty-five wilmington. so slightly on the humid side.

he demanded money and the clerk complied. the suspect then fled on foot from the scene, no word tonight on a possible suspect in this case. "action news" viewers captured the moment an suv plowed into a house right there in horsham, montgomery county. it happened at 10:00 a.m. near intersection of avenue b and palmer avenue. the driver apparently lost control but no word tonight as to why. nobody was injured. and an 11 year-old girl from philadelphia is all smiles tonight after a birthday party fit for a princess. in fact today's party was more than just a celebration, it was also about helping the youngster through her battle against a very serious condition. people that packed a fundraiser at curtis bowling lanes in ewing, on sat the day and the community, who donated gifts for raffles and tapes. today isn't just a fundraiser we are celebrating cocoa's 11th birthday because you were in the hospital during your real birthday what did you do to get ready to day. >> i got up, i got dressed, and did my hair, make up and i got my nails done yesterday. >> reporter: cocoa has pulmonary fibrosis, she spend most of her time the at the children's hospital of philadelphia she knows new lungs are her only option. >> i think it will be good because then i won't get sick a lot, i won't be in and out of the hospital. >> my heart, my heart, my heart, everything to me. >> reporter: cocoa lives with her grandparents in northeast philadelphia. her mother is not involved in her life and her father was murdered will eight years ago. they are raising money for cocoa's room and medical

destination in qualm. philadelphia, is turning purple for one of the largest african-american greek fraternities in the country. 25,000 members of the omega phi are in philadelphia for the grand conclave. they hosted a health and career fair at pennsylvania convention certainty. if you are in town you will see lots of purple and gold, fraternity colors until the convention wraps up on july 16th. and women in center city received a little lesson on self-defense this morning. councilman johnson hosted a free self-defense class for women, in partnership with the organization called handbags for peace. the event was organized in the wake of a sexual assault last month, near 19th and spruce streets. today these women learned how to fight off an attacker and get out safely from dangerous situations. still to come on "action news", lesean mccoy, changes his football shoes for basketball. we will show you the star studded event, w

meteorologist melissa magee has the exclusive accu weather seven day forecast with the humidity on the way. >> yeah, it was a great start to the weekend. >> really was. >> low humidity. humidity cranks up tomorrow but with that threat also come some showers and storms that pop up in the afternoon. storm tracker six live double scan radar showing it is quiet across much of the region. there is a spot shower to the west of our area, moving into

lancaster county. we did have some showers earlier this afternoon, across reading. those are starting to die on down but i will not be surprised if we had another pop up shower or storm, namely, north and west of the city this evening. we will show you picture outside, action cam was outside earlier today in fairmount park looking at waterworks there and people on the grass, maybe having a picnic outside, and comfortable conditions, and really no humidity to talk about until tomorrow. high in the city, climbed up to 89 degrees, 2 degrees above average. average for us this time of the year is 87. record 97 setback in 1936. we have a southerly wind overhead this evening. temperatures for the most part very mild. eighty-seven in the city. trenton 83. poconos 76 degrees. from sea isle city up to beach haven with that southerly wind we are tapping into an afternoon sea breeze with 73 there. but as you move west ward into reading, 78, pair of seven in lancaster. here's satellite six with

action radar. southerly wind moving in the region. we also have some evidence of a storm moving across west of that i-95 corridor. we had a shower or thunderstorm earlier today. i would not be surprised if we have one early this evening before the the sunsets, and we will get some of that, cooling that will take place in the atmosphere. here's your set up looking at future tracker six. fast forward to 8:30 tomorrow morning. two things are happening tomorrow. one, we will continue to tap in the southerly win. humidity increases tomorrow. and with that southerly wind and that moisture on the way there is another threat of some showers and thunderstorms, namely, popping up as we get in the afternoon hours on sunday. so 2:30 future tracker six is showing you a line of showers along i-95 corridor from trenton to wilmington. as we move over to the north of the poconos a few more the scattered showers that we will be tracking. 8:30 tomorrow evening, the bulk of that activity will stay north and west of the city from the poconos on south and west ward into lancaster. so, it will be a good idea by
