it is wednesday night, and the big story on wednesday tonight is breaking news in the west oak lanes section of philadelphia, 11 shots were fired in the playground at the simons rec reaction center. two teens were hit and one is in critical condition. dann cuellar is live at the scene. what is the latest there? >> reporter: philadelphia police are gathering evidence here on the scene and what parents describe as a crazy scene at the simons rec center. around 4:45 this afternoon, the 14th district police received reports of gunshots at the rec center playground and they found two men had been shot, an 18 shot in the groin and he is in critical at einstein and a 19-year-old was also shot in the thigh, is he in stable condition at einstein. two gunmen are being sought and

they found at least 11 bullet cases from two semi automatic weapons on the scene. concerned parents rushed to get their kids. >> we know at the teem of the shooting at 4:45 in the afternoon, the simons playground had 30 people on the playground. and there were adults playing basketball and young, tender age children with young parents on the playground. >> i got a phone call saying come pick your kid up, they are shooting at the rec center. it's a shame that the kids can't play safely. >> become here live at the scene, investigators are gathering evidence on the playground and fortunately no children were injured but an 18-year-old shot in the groin and doing critical and a 19-year-old shot in the my

reported to be in stable at einstein. dann cuellar, channel 6 "action news." >> there is a major development tonig tonight, philadelphia police have arrested jeremiah jackson for the blunt force death of laura araujo. david henry is live with that story. >> they lived in the same boarding house sharing a common kitchen. she was in the process of moving out because he made her uncomfortable, her instincts were right, police say he killed her while trying to rob her sunday night. her body was found in a vacant lot early monday morning, three hours earlier firefighters were called to south philadelphia where a car was burning, a fire investigator learned that the car was registered to laura's

father. the investigator was called to the university of pennsylvania where a man was theres with burns and he connected the dots. >> he was watching the news and later the victim was identified as laura arranauaraujo. he then called the police. >> he is identified as jeremiah jackson, he was picked up at the burn center and admitted to beating and strangling araujo, they found blood and other evidence of a violence struggle. other members of boarding house had ksh you'll conversations with jackson and were stunned by what happened. >> it's shocking that someone behind our doors, he had access to anyone of us. that is crazy.
