are off today. in the news speed limits take affect on the turnpike. but the big story this after floon, more airlnes are canceling flights in israel as the country's battle with hamas has turned to war. fighting continues today in the southern gaza strip. secretary of state, john kerry, landed in tel aviv despite concerns about rocket attacks. the faa has banned american airlines from landing there. it has left thousands of passengers standards around the world. john rawlins is live with more on the impact there. >> reporter: we are waiting for word from the faa, but in the

meantime. u.s. airlines announced though will cancel the flight from here to tel aviv, a non-stop flight. they said in a statement, that the safety of our passengers and crew are our top priority. we have canceled 796 to tel aviv on july 23rd and we are reaching out to customers to reaccommodate those affected. >> it was a delta jet after a hamas launched rock the fell about a mile from the airport. it issued 24 hour stay away directives. after the downing of the jet in ukraine, the safety of aviation in a war zone are front and center. it is in the minds of people

news." >> thanks john. the latest from ukraine where russian rebels shot down two fighter jets killing at least one pilot. it happened 20 miles from where the malaysian airlines was shot down last week, and the bodies are starting to be returned to their families today. two planes carrying 40 victims arrived in the netherlands today. the netherlands saw the heaviest death toll in the crash that kill aid total of 298 people. british investigators are work on a pair of black boxes to retrieve data on the flight's final minutes. we are following the ongoing fight in gaza and the malaysian airlines crash on 6abc.com. turn now to accuweather, we are dealing with steamy and stormy conditions today.

storm 6 hd is looking at hot and humid weather this noon. we are tracking strong storms later today. we turn to the big board and david murphy. >> we have a big mass of humid air piling in from the south all morning long. a cold front is out to the west and close to it is showers and thunderstorms pushing in to areas like west virginia and areas to the west. this front is on the way to the east and moving very, very slowly and it could be in philadelphia, we don't see a lot of this action until this evening, maybe before then in the northern and western suburbs. and before that is the flow of air from the southwest, the heat and humidity driving up to the southern states, and it's here. locally we have not seen much precipitation yet and the hint of anything is out to the south and west of harrisburg, it looks like a thunderstorm has formed and you can see the tail end of

for storms and weather in your area. news out of radnor township, a man is arrested for dealing drugs in the parking lot of the mcdonald's where he worked. police announced the arrest of allen trumel a short while ago. police say he was an employee there for two years, detectives were tipped off to the alleged drug dealing last month. we'll bring you the latest on 6abc.com and starting on "action news" at 4:00. new from our delaware newsroom, a 15-year-old boy is charged with first degree murder, police say that michael wally shot and killed a 19-year-old last month, raleigh was arrested yesterday at his home, and he is facing drug and weapons charges. investigators have not announced a motive for the crime. an aggressive driver is blamed for a two-car crash on

the schuylkill expressway, chopper 6 was over the conshohocken this morning. it happened at the end of the on ramp on the blue route north, a driver was flashing tis high beams at another driver as traffic merged on to 76, that driver hit another vehicle and lost control. the investigation is ongoing. the smell of smoke forced hundreds of hotel guests into the streets of center city, for hours this morning. crews evacuated at 4:30, and firefighters are ventilating the building ever since. katherine scott is live outside of the hotel with the story. >> i spoke to hotel management. they are hoping to get people back in the next hour or so. they are weighting for lni to clear the building. if you take a look now, people are still waiting outside.

hopeful that they can get back in soon. after being roused from this beds this morning. >> it's 4:00 in the morning, the alarm went off, everybody just migrated here, for hours, this is where many sat, after smoking conditions forced evacuations of hotel guests at the philadelphia downtown at the 200 block of north 17th street. alarms went off since 4:15 email and guests made their way down the stairwells, i got down there and said oh snap, the fire is you could see all the smokes. >> it filled up the lobby and some of the guest floors, they blamed a malfunctioni electrical panel for the problem, food and beverages were provide and some waitedn the archdiocese across the street. ventilation fans helped to a out the building and guests were

this afternoon and tonight. as we look outside, the action cam is out earlier, and pretty pictures, you go outside in rittenhouse square and especially in the afternoon or anywhere in the region, it feels stickier, and less comfortable, than this picture would suggest. your dew point in the city is up to 70, when we get a dew point of 70 degrees, that is when we start talking about oppressive humidity out there. the wind is south-southwest at 13 miles per hour. in this condition it doesn't help much. 86 in trenton and 87 in dover, it's starting to inch up there as well. keeping up with the heat combined with the humidity, it feels like it's well into the 90s. satd light and radar starting to well up to the north and west

and lines of precipitation are trying to form. this is th cold front that is first of a forcing the heat and humidity from the south and it is coming closer into the afternoon and evening especlly, we'll be looking at that frt and mixing with this air and uing it for thunderstorms. future tracker 6 shows some of this beginning to pop up in the northern and western suburbs and by the time we get to dinner time there is more of them in the western areas, then we get into 8:00, 9:00, rolling through philadelphia right now. any of these storms could produce torrential downpours in the oranges and reds and strong gusty wind bursts where you got the rain and hail here and there and lots of lightning out of these. we get to later and all of the stuff is down and off the shore. as we look at allentown it will be hot and humid and an

afternoon high of 87. warm and humid at the beach and you can take the refreshing dip in the ocean if you want. doesn't look like any storms down at the shore until later tonight. if you are headed to the pool it's a hot one, 90 at 2:00 and 91 by 5:00 and it's a sunscreen day despite the fact you see some clouds. it's hot and humid and late storms in the forecast and then this evening, right through philadelphia. morning showers and storms cannot be ruled out, in the afternoon we see the sun come back and humidity drop a bid and a high of 82 degrees, tomorrow is the transition day to better weather. we enjoy a nice day, 88 and still not that humid. stickier and clouds and sun and the possible of a stray thunderstorm later in the day.
