joseph live at the big board and the sweltering heat. >> it's hot and sticky out there today and hopefully the trees will get a drink of water thanks to mother nature later on tonight and cooler temperatures to follow. as we look at double scan live, it's quiet across much of the area now and any storms are really to the north and west of our viewing area, we see a couple of showers and downpours trying to pop near birdsboro in the southern part of berks county and the lancaster-berks county line, a downpour here or there. these are trying to bubble up, so to speak, they are falling apart and not much support in the atmosphere to get things excited just yet. as we look at the dew points it's a steam bath, 70 in allentown and 77 in wilmington and 73 in millville, and a reminder, when dew points are a reminder at 70 degrees, it feels oppressive and the atmosphere is holding a lot of water right now. as we look at the heat index,

the dew points and air temperature, feels like 96 in philadelphia, and 95 in trenton, but at the shore a bit of a break feeling like 80 degrees, with a nice strong sea breeze coming in off the atlantic. as we look at storm tracker 6 live double scan, you can head far to the north in northern new england and the state of new york. this is where all the storms as they are passing through they prompt severe thunderstorm warnings with it. the tail end of this front -- more storms in central pennsylvania are not reaching severe limits, we look at future tracker by 7:00 tonight, you see hit or miss downpours or thunderstorms entering the far western suburbs by 9:00 tonight and pushing into southern new jersey by 11:00, at the shore are you good to go at the boardwalk tonight, because it's not until they late you'll see

bears come in a new neighborhood to raid the trash cans, boulder, colorado, city council is making a push for bear resistance trash cans but the only way to figure out if they work is to let the bears get at them and try it. they gave the trash cans to a group of bears at yellowstone national park and encouraged them to pounce on them and tear them up but the cans passed the test, they are bear proof. >> i think they were looking for cupcakes, i like cupcakes, a lot of people do, and lebron james knows this. and we'll tell you what he did it's kfc night.

at logan circle. she was able to fight him off and call police. he was arrested a short time later and he is facing charges of attempted rape and simple assault. the victim was treated at an area hospital and released. a former nazi guard living in the area for decades. will never face charges. he died at the philadelphia hospital last night. the news came the same day the federal judge granted the extradition request. he maintained his innocence until his death. murder suspect george sergeant is found competent to stand trial for a woman found dead at

a recent college graduate is dead following a freak accident on a delaware beach. rob are the pine was digging a ten foot hold in half moon bay when the sand collapsed around him. nearly 40 people rushed to save him frantically digging with anything they could find. even though they managed to get the 26-year-old's head free, it was not enough to save him. he was pronounced dead at the scene. this is what may flies are doing to parts of the midwest. every inch of this bank in minnesota was covered with flies, and at one point so many were swarming they showed up on the national weather service's radar. the bug that only live for 24

it's hot and humid and sticky out there and uncomfortable and it won't last too long. a few thunderstorms roll through tonight and that drops the temperature and the humidity starting tomorrow. as we look at double scan live, some areas get rocking and rolling all day long this evening. the radar is quiet on double scan live. with the exception of the far suburbs. can you see here, a couple of thunderstorms from bethel, between hamburg and pottsville. this particular storm north of hamburg about to enter the north part of pottsville. this is moving to the east at 20 miles per hour. winds 14 miles per hour and pea size hail and heading to lynn

port at 5:20 and albany at 5:10. again, these are thunderstorms that are releasing gusty winds but not reaching the severe criteria, over 58 miles per hour. as we look at the numbers, it is hot everywhere, 91 in philadelphia and 91 in allentown and 91 in dover. at the shore we are breaking the heat with temperatures only in the upper 70s, we factor in the humidity and it feels like the 90s in the area and the exception is the shore and over 100 degrees in the state of delaware. as we look at satellite and delaware. look at this box that pops up in southern new england, this is where the front is supplying the severe weather in new york city and northern new england. the line through central pennsylvania is broken in nature and we'll see strong if not severe strongs pass through this evening, future tracker holes
