rushed to help him. >> i grab the older gentleman, put him on the stems next-door. >> when she jumped out, i able to break her fall and the on him thing she walked away with was a scraped leg. >> the woman is being treated for minor injuries from jumping from the window. the fire marshal is looking into what sparked the blaze. a woman and child were shot in delaware county. police say the man who opened fire is now dead. gunshots rang out on the 1100 block of haverford road in ridley township. the suspect the woman and child before taking off in the car. officers chased him and he controlsed the intersection at oak lane and chester pike and fled that scene. police continued the chase until the suspect came to a deadened on brainard boulevard in sharon

hill. that's when the suspect shot himself. >> reporter: i've lived here 17 years, never have i seen any accident like this or commotion until this day. >> police pronounced the gunman dead on the scene. no word on the condition of the woman or child. the search is on for two men suspected in the carjacking and deadly accident in tioga. afternoon. once the cold front swings through, it will feel like a breath of fresh air. high temperatures will be in the 70s for most. a lot of cloudy cover counts jersey shore. the delaware bay region, the i-95 corridor, we're seeing skies brightening north and west, poconos seeing a combination of sun and clouds. future tracker 6 this afternoon, it will be warm and sticky. combination of sun and clouds, there's an isolated chance of a pop-up shower or thunderstorm north and west. it's only 25 or 30% chance. the main event arrives tonight, 10:30 it's clear, according to this model all is clear. to the west pushing through central pennsylvania, harrisburg and york area we're seeing heavier downpours at that point. it's this complex right there that will push through southwest to northeast in about a three hour span. that complex could bring strong damaging winds, drenching

>> reporter: welcome back everyone, 9:24 sunday morning, we're looking at storm tracker 6 live double scan. most of the activity has pushed off the coast at this point and we're drying and clearing out across central portions of pennsylvania. if you would look at a surface map you would notice a series of frontal systems a warm front that is knocking on the door as i speak. a cold front that's pushing through the eastern portions of the great lake states. it's between these two frontal systems which is known as the

unstable sector that promotes strong to severe thunderstorms. it would be this area out through here, that's where it is sitting right now. all this progresses east over the next 24 hours and pushes over top of us into the late evening hours into the overnight. the sun that we see today will fire up thunderstorms across the appalachians all of that will march east into our neck of the woods. ultimately we're in the middle of a pattern change. we're going from soupy oppressively hot air with temperatures close to the 90s to tuesday, temperatures in the 70est, payoff is tuesday. >> people scene, robert downy junior said he would be up to doing iron man. he said he would have no problem to suiting up for iron man iv.

has flown from liberia to africa. this weekend it was discovered that an american doctor was contracted the virus while working in liberia, he is being treated in isolation. >> a manslaughter has been charged with allegedly setting fire in south philadelphia. christopher smith was arrested shortly after crews arrived on the 1700 block of sigel street. he pushed in an air-conditioning unit and sprayed flammable liquid inside. an officer was nearby and alerted the people inside. the family had to jump out of the window to escape the burning home. smith has been charged with arson an attempted murder. >> two firefighters suffered minor injuries while paddle battling a blaze in philadelphia's mantua section. it started in a vacant buildings on mantua avenue at 7:30. firefighters were able to bring it under control in a half-hour.

cause is under investigation. a propane tank exploded and set an rv on fire in northeast philadelphia. an "action news" viewer sent us is this video of the flames as they engulfed the rv at the intersection of east cheltenham and oakland street. police say a 36-year-old woman was cooking inside the rv. she also in critical, but stable conditions with severe burns at temple university hospital. a 5-year-old boy was treated for escapes. two other people escaped unharmed. two women were killed and the 6 others hurt if a crash while in a sedan that collided with a pick up yesterday afternoon. the accident happened on the southbound parkway in stafford township, ocean county. a boy and girl in the back seat of the car suffered serious injuries. four people in the truck suffered minor injuries. police are investigating what

cause the the crash. police in camden are investigating the city's latest murder, a man in his 20s were a shot several times while hind the wheel of a car. the vehicle crashed into a fence. the victim was taken to cooper medical center where he died. police have no motives or suspects in the shooting. >> from our delaware newsroom, state police are investigating a shooting at the sun set station shopping center in new castle county. it happened in the parking lot on the 1800 block of pulaski highway in bear. three people were inside the car when one opened fire hieght -- hitting a 2-year-old -- 23-year-old man. he got out of the mom and ran for help. police are searching for those involved. joe paterno's son is saying he didn't tell his coaching staff about child abuse of

delaware county district attorney's office are trying to piece together the details of what led to a fatal shooting of a 5-year-old boy late last night. it happened after 11:00 p.m. in the 1100 block of haverford road. a 5-year-old boy and woman were shot, the boy was pronounced dead, the woman is in critical condition at crozer-chester medical center this morning. the male suspect fled in a car belonging to the victims. police chased him and caught up with him at a dead end in the 300 block of brainard boulevard when the suspect shot himself. he was taken to the hospital and is extremely critical condition on life support. neighbors said a birthday party occurred earlier in the day at the location where the initial shooting curled before all the -- occurred, before all the trouble began. at this point, police are not saying what the relationship is among the two victims and the

suspect. but, again a 5-year-old boy dead the woman in critical condition, the gunman on life support this morning. live at ridley police in folsom, i'm amy buckman channel 6 "action news." >> four people including two children were hurt in a house fire in northeast philadelphia this morning. the blaze break out at 5:30 in the 1300 block of elbridge street. one person jumped from the second floor to safety. that person was taken to the hospital for a minor injury. two children and another adult are being treated for smoke. it took a half-hour to get the fire under control. no word on what started that blaze. philadelphia police and two brothers are being credited with rescuing a couple from a burning home overnight. the fire started before 2:00 a.m. on on the 900 block of west huntington street. the brothers heard a commotion and saw the flames and went

running to the couple's rescue. >> we all kicked the door in, i grabbed the older gentleman to get him out and get him on the steps next-door. >> when she jumped out i was a little bit to break her fall, the only thing she walked away with was a scraped leg, that was a blessing. >> the couple was taken to temple university hospital, where they are being treated for minor smoke and the woman is being treated for minor injuries from jumping from the window. >> we have information on the shootout last thursday at the hospital crisis center in delaware county. "action news" has learned the suspect 49-year-old richard plotts has been arained from his bed -- arraigned from his bed side. he he is accused of shooting and kill his case worker, teresa hunt at mercy fitzgerald hospital. psychiatrist lee silverman was
